NY first before others. Same way I pull for Yanks-Then Mets. Giants-then Jets. Rangers before Isle althought was a big fan of team when I lived on Long Island in High school and they won 4 cups in a row. They were a big deal!

Some "interesting teams" which I'll look in on with league pass like Spurs (the right way), Golden State (Dlee and curry), Rockets (Lin and those other guys) and The Knuggs with Gallo-Wilson-Moz.

Knicks before Nets but if Knicks eliminated in playoffs and Nets still going, I'll pull for them. I root for the knicks but will "pull" for the Nets. I'd rather Nets bring NYC a championship than another in Chicago or Miami.

Rooting for Paul Pierce- shame on you

Your right, but I have yet to see him play in brooklyn so it will be weird. KG is nearly as hard to "pull for".

Maybe a play on words but to me "root" and "pull" different.

Unce upon a time Melo was a punk cheap shot artist that was disliked by knick fans. Artest was a nut job (but from NY and ST jOhns so he gets a pass!), Rashweed was one of the most obnoxious players in the league and Z-Bo in portland was a punk. When knicks they become OK? So given that, I have learned to adapt.

Thru Reggie Miller I learned to not just hate on a player, but respect the body of work as well. Reggie almost became a knick and that would have been cool with most. Hated Jordan but mad respect and hoped he would be a knick, and same for Lebron.

I don't love Melo but he is a knick and I root for him.

With the new CBA more players will be moving year to year and for the most part because of this, and AAU there are few players that hate each other and rivalries that have any intensity anymore.

Nets depth makes them very interesting.

Yeah, part of being a basketball fan is adapting when a player you don't like ends up on your team (Keith Van Horn!)- if it's any consolation, hopefully KG and Paul Pierce spend so much time injured, it won't even be an issue for you!

If I had to tolerate Starbury on the knicks, then I can tolerate Pierce on the Nets. At least Pierce has earned respect and a place in the HOF with a ring. Marbury earned a place on the end of the bench and in the back of the truck.

Kidd was hated by Anti Net knick fans for a long time. Watching Kidd in his prime one had to admire his game!

Marbury was on track to the HOF based on Stats.

To be honest if we all managed to tolerate Marbury, Steve Francis, Eddy Curry, Jerome James etc on our team, there isn't really anyone we couldn't tolerate!

I don't really root for them either, I just like them more than every other team not called the Knicks. I do hope they win their games, but ultimately I don't care as much if they lose..

Iggy should fit in perfectly IMO. Which better utility man is out there right now?

I wouldn't say side teams but for some reason I have been drawn to Philly, Detroit, Indy and Phoenix for the past few years.

I like the cavs. I think they will take a big jump this year. I don't like the nets but in the past have watched them a lot because of my cable package. I don't know if I can do that this year. I hate pierce, Garnett and terry. Also, I never saw last years net team as having the heart of a champion. Not sure this year with the new additions.

Detroit is improved and could flirt with the 8th seed. Look at roster.

I agree with the Iggy signing... GS was great last year and now they added the perfect player for their roster. Iggy won't stop Durant or LeBron, but he sure will slow him down and allow the team to play both Curry and Thompson at the same time--as shooters, due to Iggy's ball handling ability. I know Curry is a fine point, but I'd rather him come off a screen in crunch time

Nalod, I have a similar background and outlook. I root for all NY teams but I do always have a first favorite. Knicks are first in Basketball; Mets are first over the Yanks (unfortunately for me).

I also followed the Nets in the ABA when they had Dr J. But now, I can't and won't root for them with Garnett and Pierce. My 2 least favorite players and not because they played for the Celtics. But because Garnett is the dirtiest and sneakiest player; and Pierce is a prancing Prima Donna. No way I root for the Nets with those 2 on their roster.

Honestly, not for the record. I always kept an eye on Philly and Detroit because I don't know why, I am just drawn to them, probably more for the cities than any team they assembled. Indy, as much as I hated them, I loved their style of play back in the days of the Davis Boys, Haywood Workman, Jackson, that physical play. I love how Donnie brought that back to them. David West is probably my favorite Pacer, followed by Hibbert and Stephenson. They always seem to chase players I like.

Phoenix, I kind of liked for a while. I'm talking before Nash. I didn't like those teams. I am talking Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle. I hated the D'Antoni Suns.

And as a mild confession, the Heat were another team I liked unless they faced the Knicks. Then I hated them. But Riley always seemed to get players I liked. Alonzo was one of my favorite players at the time. Hardaway I respected as a leader and a pest. I liked Jim Jackson when he was there. Even Majerle played defense. I loved their physical style.

The Miami team now though, is a bunch of pussies. no heart.

Living in Florida, I get all the Magic games so I've been following them on the side for years now. Looking forward to seeing what Oladipo can do.

I know what you mean- I feel bad for their fans more than I do for say the Bobcats or Magic. I think i see them as traditional, old school franchises. It just seems wrong when they're struggling.

Yep. I could barely tolerate them when they were New Jersey. When they moved to Brooklyn, I couldn't stand them. After they picked up the Boston turds, it became outright HATE.

I use to be a big Laker fan post-Shaq. I came to respect the hell out of Kobe and the legacy he was building. With them sipping some of that Dolan juice though, I've grown partial to the Bulls. I love Derrick Rose's and Carlos Boozer's game. I also love Tom Thib's gritty style of coaching. Together, they really are a beauty to watch when its clicking on all cylinders. The crazy thing is that they can easily get better with the assets they have e.g. the Bobcats 2014 pick, their own pick and Nikola Mirotic right's. If they manage to make a deal for Al Horford or LaMarcus Aldridge, it'd be a wrap for the league.

I actually love that team. When healthy, I think they easily make the playoffs. If they give Derrick Williams, a favorite of mine, a legitimate chance, I think they could be talked of in the same breathe as the Grizzlies.

I'm torn about rooting for them though. I see Kevin Love as a very real possibility to become a Knick. The Wolves sucking give us a real chance to sign K.Love in 2015 and maybe even trade for Pekovic.

I can't stand playing against the bulls (Noah and Rose wind me up), but I'll be honest, I'm really jealous of that team- I wish we had a defense like that. Also the grit they showed last year battling through injuries. Can't believe they picket Tyrus Thomas over LaMarcus Aldridge- if they had him instead of Boozer, they may have won a championship by now. However their owner is one of the worst in the league due to his greed, and Rose was lame for sitting out all of Last year.
