450k would retire me....I don't need a big house and a lot of money. Give me a condo for my family, a gym membership and free me of debt and I'm good

After taxes, which is about 42%, thats 3,480,000. 2% for agent? another $70,000.

Dummy just spent 13% of a years salary on a car.

I agree that its stupid, but...
you could apply the same math to someone making $600,000 and buying a $45,000 BMW.
Is that just as stupid?

Briggs is mostly right and there is no right answer here. He'll have some pension money coming (we forget union takes a nice chunch too!)and there are way too many variables to consider. Is he supporting his parents, his brother, children out of wedlock, will he get married, divorced, is he investing now, are they good investments, post career ability to earn money etc etc.

sounds like the truck is not his from what we have read. Young man having fun is no big deal. guy flaunting his wealth known to have cash flow problems (previously written about) is a different story.

Iverson is not broke and he'll have a nice pension, but he blew a fortune. He'll be ok, but DAMN!

Jared Zwerling @JaredZwerling

Contrary to reports, Chris Smith told me today his bro doesn't own or rent the Gurkha F5 armored truck that he was seen in last week in NYC.

it's almost like people like you want the 'american way' to end,

but you offer nothing to replace it and there is even a good chance that your very existence is being subsidized by this 'american way' you loathe so much, but you don't see any of this. you can't see it

Yeah, and we all wish we had 50" verticals and could dunk in traffic on anyone, at any time. And could get paid for playing a game. And going to practice. And staying in shape.

They lead a different life.

We are not them.

You could also apply the same logic to all the non-NBA types who set off the whole CDO debacle. People making 250k/year getting approved for mortages for $1.5 mil.

why do people get jobs in the first place. To be able to purchase the things you want.

There is nothing wrong or even stupid about what JR did. He is living out his dream and those hating on it are just haters. Haters gonna hate....its what they do. I doubt there is a single person here that can honestly say they never made a purchase that others might view as stupid but, made you happy.

So apparently he did NOT buy a ridiculous $450,000 military vehicle

Anybody who was intimating that he was just another ghetto athlete who was going to wind up broke care to issue a retraction???

even if you were misled by internet rumor-mongering he remains a knucklehead... until he proves otherwise on the court in the second round and beyond.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

when you call him a knucklehead, please explain your reasoning. He has done a few immature things I credit to his youth, things like posting a girls but on twitter which, imo does not rise to such a level. Getting suspended for losing his cool for a moment after being repeatedly hit in the ribs by a defender hurt the team a bit, but is not even close to what some of our BELOVED Knicks have done in the past. I would just like to know on what such comments are based on?

the only driving he should be doing is to the basket.

How he performs on the court has little to do with if he is or remains a knucklehead in his personal life. Once you stop projecting personal characteristics on these players based on how they perform on the court and start realizing that athletes are also human beings, you may be able to stop placing players into your neat little "hate" boxes.

There have been superstars who are scumbags in their personal life. There have been marginal players or those who do not fulfill potential who are great human beings.

your being idiotic. This was a tragic event. Young guys and gals speed all the time (I bet you have exceeded the speed limit in the past). To call him a knucklehead because of this...you guys are worse than woman when it comes to using bullshyte to substantiate your arguments.
