Its always struck me as weird how teams, players and fans from states like Boston and Chicago hate New York and the Knicks so much considering how often those teams have beaten the Knicks. Some of my friends from Boston have told me that its a carryover from years past when Boston was hugely jealous of New York but, not sure about Chi-town and other states. the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. If they get the Pierce from last season, they won't be getting as much as the media is making it seem. As for KG, dude just isn't offensive minded enough. I remember Doc damn near begging him to take more shots only to see KG act almost passive on the offensive end last season. Maybe its his age and the fact that he puts so much work on the defensive end but, I just don't see them as being offensive Juggernauts. I expect Shump to be jacking Pierce for his lunch money this season. the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. ![]() Consider what we loved about "oak", "Spree" and "Starks" back in the day did not always sit well with other cities who love their team.
They might see things differently. While I can't stand Pierce and KG I respect them for their intensity and they give to their fans results. In the new era of player movement one never knows when young brash punk player who started a fight in MSG grows up to be one of the biggest stars in the league and gets traded to your team. Thats right, Melo was not liked by many a knick fan but he got traded here. Im sure if Lebron wanted to play in NY most of us would welcome him. If we not drafting and growing our own it almost demands consideration to accept a former enemy. KG is a tough one. Guy is pretty out there. Ron Artest is a knick. Enough said. |

JR got suspended a game for elbowing Terry, but I saw KG elbow Shump about 3 times in the head and face in a 2 minute span, and he gets nothing called on him! |

![]() Sheed was a very good player but I could not stand his game and whining to refs. Then he becomes a knick and Im supposed to love him? I admit, I warmed up to him. I read some threads here and there on the UK about some wanting Rondo? KG an Pierce were top dogs on my villian list but I softened up a bit by learing to appreciate their game. As I did for melo, Sheed, Kidd.......and now Bargnani. So the trash talk bother me? Naw, its kid of fun! Look forward to the games! |

“My dislike for the Knicks is more now because it’s right across the river,” Pierce said during an interview on the Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio. “The rivalry is going to go to a new level.” The feeling is mutual. |

Now we got the two boston villians and two teams that should figure to compete for the atlantic! For a rivalry to exist important games must be played. We can only hope for a playoff series!!!! I think ESPN had a pole that had Nets 4th and knicks 5th. Gotta figure HOme court won't facter in as neither team has to travel. |

Yeah, I guess we have to look at Ron Artest differnetly now too? "Real" BK people who are not die hard knick fans are not bothered by KG and thus will jump on the band wagon if it goes anywhere special. KNick fans are knick fans and hate him. The better the knicks are the more meaningful the games are, and thus real drama can exist. We got Metta World War, a year after Sheed! New NBA CBA is crazy! We got the dreaded KMart and we love him!!!! Knick fans loved Kmart and Kidd because of their play. If KG brings his intensity and Nets win they will love him, as we accepted ours. |

![]() I never had the hate for Kenyon that I do for KG. Not EVEN CLOSE. I always felt he should have paid Kidd for his all-star selection because Kidd made him look like really good. Plus, it helps that I liked him in college. He would act like a fool after every dunk but I don't remember him ever engaging in the crap that KG brought to the game. My hatred of Pierce grew after KG came and he tried to act all fake tough, grabbing Jamal Crawford around the neck after receiving a good (not dirty) foul. He never would have pulled that crap with someone more his size.

![]() Kidd was another matter altogether. I hated this woman beating drunk. After Steph's comments, he made it his mission to just beat the crap out of us. So considering how I welcomed Kidd, there is more than a little truth to what Nalod is saying.

![]() My favorite KG moment was after winning the title in 08' he had a moment to be interviewd and flubbed his line: Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett, in a very emotional moment after the team clinched the NBA title over the Lakers on Tuesday, screamed in response to a question by ABC reporter Michele Tafoya: “Anything’s possible!” A few of us in the room all caught it because you could see it on his face! It was very funny! It was to be his "going to Disneyland" moment but he blew the line! |
