Don't you remember how last year teams like Indy and Chicago used the "run them off the 3 point line" strategy on us, which lead to them clanking open mid range shot after shot? Well if they tried that with him here, this is what will happen: yeah, I believe he shot around 52% off the dribble outside the paint. |

IJ does have some conduct issues going all the way back to college. Failed to have his scholarship renewed based on poor conduct and immaturity; fined almost $5k and banned from the Korean league altogether for flipping the bird at an official; flipped the bird again at a Boston Celtics fan while with the Hawks and got fined $25k...Wow. Rough past... He's a hard-nosed player, no doubt. Is he stable enough mentally though and then yeah, is that too volatile a mix with some of these guys we already have in the fold? Legit question.. |

![]() Would love to sign Ivan, would hate to waste a spot on Pargo- honestly he'd give us nothing. How do we go from Udrih, Brown and West to Pargo?! I'd rather sign Toure Murry.
Plus Pargo had some weird beef against us the season before last- remember that Hawks game near the end of the season, when he was acting up? I think Amar'e was bemused by it or something. |

Don't remember that but you're right 100% -- he's a pretty big drop-off from the other guys, even Delonte West....Would rather roll the dice on Bobby Brown's potential or even Toure Murry. Absolutely. The buck really needs to stop with Bobby Brown as the additional PG....He's already on record as saying he'd prefer NY over China and it sounds like he's willing to wait up to 8/15 AND ultimately accept less to come here (800k? His Chinese offer is for $1.2m). If that's the case, why even talk to Jannero Pargo? At this stage Pargo's the inferior talent and with his longevity he'd cost more...Makes no sense. |

Johnson, who calls Garnett a "dirty player," said the Celtics star tried to incite him to react, the Boston Herald's Dan Duggan reports.Knicks need this guy. He's got a little bit of a checkered past but I'd roll the dice on IJ man. Toughness coming out his pores coupled with some underrated skill and an ability to play both forward spots. Great guy to have in back of MWP -- kind of like a poor man's MWP actually (I see some Kawhi Leonard too -- a little heavier and the jumper's not as advanced yet but there are similarities -- IJ's got some very quick hands/feet on defense, he can get up the court quickly even with the rock in his hands and he can rebound & score the ball well). Anything ever happened to Chandler/Amar'e, MWP etc. it'd be nice to have guys like Earl Barron and Ivan Johnson around as the next wave on the depth chart. That's how you keep it rolling during tough times, injuries etc...Deep teams can survive that...Can never have enough depth esp. if they're serious about a championship...Not sure how close we are really--gonna have to see how it all gels--but to me adding the quality of Beno Udrih/Ivan Johnson/Earl Barron 13-15 puts us that much closer. All those guys can play; they're not your typical 13-15 type players (Udrih's immediately elevated to backup PG ahead of Prigioni--he'd get some mins at SG also, even with the depth we have there now). It'd be nice having that type of depth all the way down to 15...I betcha Woody wants IJ bad...Seems like his type of player. Bet he's pushing for him.. Wouldn't surprise me. |

![]() Probably fantasy but I wonder if we could offer Udrih a 1 yr deal + a player option. If he picked up the PO for year 2 that would give him 2 years in a Knick uniform and then we could exercise his early Bird rights and give him a proper raise a-la JR Smith at 175%. Tell you what -- in order to get him here right now I might look him in the eye and guarantee him exactly that under the table with a handshake, even if he got hurt (Knicks would need a little protection built into that handshake deal though -- stipulation would be if he got hurt, he'd only get 1 year at the 175% increase -- if he was still playing well and effective, then we talk a longer term deal). Get creative here -- I mean we were toying with the idea of offering Chris Smith a guaranteed roster spot at one point which I feel went by the wayside hopefully with JR's poor play in the playoffs coupled with Chris showing he's obviously not NBA material in SL...Didn't want that to happen obviously but I still admired the creativity. If they can get creative with that, there's gotta be a way to get creative with Beno Udrih..

![]() i dont like the Pargo stuff. How do you succeed with three PGs who are 30+ I was hoping for some young legs as the third wheels. PG is certainly a position of concern. We had Ray Mccalum Wolters and Isiaah Cannan all go right after our pick and we couldve just signed Buckys and I think all4 of these guys especially Buckys was a better option than Pargo.

![]() I wish we we could amnesty amare...in his place we could sign Ivan Johnon without question. Id also rather have both Urich and Bobby brown instead of Felton and priggy.
Perfect storm would be to trade tyson, Felton and possibly Shump for a big time player and then sign everyone. A man can dream Subscribe to my Podcast https://youtube.com/c/DiehardknicksPodcast

![]() Finestrg...you and I are on the same page. Signing Ivan Johnson and Benu Idrih would be magic.
IVAN is the closest thing to charles oakley ive seen in a while. But why would a decent role player sign up to be a 3rd stringer in an already crowded back court. Id play Ivan WAYYYY more than Bargnani if he ever came Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

![]() yes I would much rather have Udrih, but from the start of FA, Jannero Pargo is a LEGIT VET MIN player that wouldn't have to pray to sign to be a steal
If Udrih does take less money to come to NY it would be great and I believe he is better than Pablo and can even challenge Felton's starting job Instead of using a portion of the MLE for Pablo, I believe more FA's PG's would have come on a low deal for the opportunity for PT, challenge Felton for the starting job, possibly even starting with Felton with Woodson playing 2 PG's last season, and at worse be the backup PG, looking for their next job like JR Smith and Lin/Copeland has done in to raise their stock |

The issue is we only had $3.1mil to spend because our roster is pathetic with so many guys who are over played. Even Artest is only making what $1.3. The only cheap option for a young change of pace pg was through the draft and we added another JR in Tim Hardaway. Now we are looking at jannero frickin pargo |

![]() I trust Grunwald and the rest of the scouting staff that if they zero'd in on a PG in the draft they would've found a gem. I'm really beginning to think the problem is Woodson does not like young PGs and will not play em. Maybe it is the Larry brown philosophy where a SG like Hardaway can slide right in and not get in the way. But tell Boston and Rondo that. PG is a prime position

Rather sign bobby brown or anyone for that matter actually I got to see ivan johnson here in Atlanta, he is a tough player. I like him.. but here again is my problem guns.. why did we waste money on artest.. johnson brings the same things to the table as far as toughness goes, yet he is younger, fresher legs, higher motor... so where is his playing time is going to come from?
