Nets line up has the same problem ours does... not enough guys defend and too many are useless w/o the ball in their hands. Pierce and Iso Joe are pound the rock kind of guys. Bropez we all know isnt doing much without the ball in his hands either. Its possible they are worse the Knicks were last year.

You riight and its why Kidd recently said he was going to TRY to have less Iso. Recent article.

Jason was a push the ball kind of a guy and the knicks did look best when he was on the court and his shot fell. It was about open looks. Come crunch time Nyets have some good closers. KG can still hit it, pass and reobund while Deron need not be called upon to fabricate everything. He can penetrate and kick it out to Pierce/JJ. Nice luxury to have. JJ is a clutch game shooter.

Bargs
Amare
Melo
JR
Felton

Is a very nice crunch time need a bucket lineup.

what the nets do have is depth at every position that fits together. obviously there are a lot of shots to go around, but you have guys like livingston, evans, ak47 and even garnett that aren't going to be requiring shots. they are going to limit everyones minutes, unlike what woodsen did with kidd, mike did with amare and keep everyone healthy and they can withstand injuries because each player actually has a role. unlike putting amare out there with melo or bargs with melo.

Another post on limiting minutes you can look at.....

Trust me, you will see Melo and Bargs on the floor together!

The Nets SHOULD be good. That's not a guarantee they'll be the best team in the Atlantic. There is so much that goes into the chemistry of a team and i'm not sure about the chemistry of the Nets yet. I do have a better sense of how the Knicks will function on offense and defense, because more of this season's team is back from last season. The Additions for the Knick are IMO a better fit for what they want to do. I'm not sure how JJ and PP actually work well. IMO JJ and PP are going to make the Nets a very poor defensive team. I could be wrong, but I don't see them being able to stay in front of anyone!!! Sure they've got KG, but how much can he be expected to cover for them?

It's going to be very interesting. There's also the issue of how Kidd will do over the changing course of a season. That's not a given either, even tho I like him as a guy I think has some talent to coach. Still this is a very big deal for Kidd. The intensity of this rivalry is going to be huge. How will Kidd deal with that? Heck we've seen Woody mess up in tense situations and he's got years of experience.

Melo at the 4 can't defend and rebound. Tyson is old and injury prone. Woodson won't play the young guys for consistent minutes. The vets will break down again at the tail end of the year. And JR will regress both physically and mentally. Felton is not a starting calibur pg on a contending team. Can't run an offense other than dumping th ball to Melo and occasional lobs to tyson and can't defend scrub PGs. Hopefully Murray explodes onto the scene and Woodson is forced to play him

Guns, are you doing that thing where you predict we lose within the 5 minutes of a game starting (but you really think/hope we'll win and you sort of reverse jinx it) except you're saying it before the season even starts? It actually worked pretty well last season so keep it up lol

I think we'll start out rough due to the loss of JR unless someone else picks up the offensive slack... time will tell if Bargnani will be that guy but right now we don't know if Amare will healthy enough, if Iman and Felton will be consistent enough, or if the rooks (possibly 3 of them) will have a smooth transition into the NBA level of play and can contribute. You're right that Amar'e and Bargs are weak defenders but we're losing our second best scorer in JR for a while so they may just fill that need. I hope they have an early training camp like they did last year and come in in great shape again. I didn't expect the hot start we had last season either so who knows...but I'm not expecting a miracle this year either. I do think we got better though because Bargnani + Metta > Novak + Cope. We only have 11 players on the team as of now (assuming K-mart comes back) so I'll reserve further judgement until we have all 15. Also, we really need to hire an offensive assistant coach for Woody. It's clear he needs some help in that department.

One positive is that we have retained our core rotation players and those we brought in likely won't mess with the chemistry too much. With the Nets...sure they have a LOT of talent but they also just injected a couple of very strong personalities into a team that already had a few. THERE BETTER BE MILLIONS OF ARTICLES ABOUT WHETHER PIERCE/KG/DERON/JJ CAN F'IN COEXIST.

I freaking loathed all those articles about Melo/Amar'e coexisting when it was clear they were actually good friends and if anything never got a real shot at playing together with Amar'e perpetually injured due to his back, knees or fire extinguishers. That discussion was everywhere for two years straight. The nets better not get a pass on this. Bring on the drama!

The article talked about the Nets players ages but doesn't mention a lot of the Knicks ages. Here they are (approximately)

Carmelo - 29
Bargnani - 30
Tyson Chandler - 31
Pablo - 36
Shumpert - 23
JR Smith - 28
Amare - 31
THJR - 21
CJ Leslie - 22

Rose is not the answer.

Isn't Bargnani 27 now, turning 28 next season?

Bargnani is 27 going on 28 on Oct 26th. Amar'e will be 31 this Nov. In any event the Knicks are a team full of players in their prime years. It's unfortunate that JR had to have surgery, but he's expected to play this coming season, so it's not the end of the world at this point at least.

My main issue is that it's not so clear cut that the Nets will end up being the better team. I know the Nets adding KG and PP make it seem like the sexier team but just for a moment lets at least take note of the slowing down of KG and especially PP. Heck even JJ is appearing to slow down. So many media guys were jumping on the age of MWP and yet AK47 is nearly the same age. It's just a double standard.

kG AND PIERCE bring a mentality the nets need.. and they can still play at a high level on most nights.... that is their advantage..

Deron is still a top flight PG, and the nets have enough youth and vets, that can still produce..... KG and pierce makes them real interesting...

I would take KG at 20mpg over the amare we have now at 20mpg... and I like amare..

I don't think anyone would disagree with that. Still think we end up with the better record.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
