They didn't think the Knicks were gonna do much this year and they ended up better than their beloved Nets who were supposed to be better than the Knicks. They can rag on AB but if we had him this year I bet we get past the Pacers. All we needed were a couple of timely made shots. Despite all the rebounding edge the game came down to missed or made shots by the Knicks that were wide open.

We had a player on the bench that could do the exact same things

We kept Prigs and JR over that player. Bargs move was separate. The argument should be if we should have not retained Prigs and resigned Cope. In terms of players actually playing, The Bargs move was essentially a trade of Novak for AB.

and three draft picks........

Yes, of course...... I specifically mentioned "players actually playing" in my post. But undoubtedly someone will come and remind everyone of the 3 draft picks. For some reason, when it comes to the media and some posters here regarding the Knicks.......2nd round picks are extremely important. But for other teams, they don't even mention picks. As an example......Look at the linked article for instance, no mention that the Nets gave up 3 first rounders and the rights to swap a fourth.

Take a closer look at the picks. Next years second round pick is projected to be the 59th overall pick in the draft. The other second round pick is for 2017. Four years from now Melo will be 33, Tyson 34 and Bargs 31. Can't see hanging onto that pick if you have the opportunity to move bad contracts and get a player that will help you in the present and has the potential to be a major steal. The first round pick in 2016 will be a late pick, 21-30 most likely. The Knicks are trying to win now. Hoping that in three years they can get a quality role player late in the first rather then going after someone that can help now and help their cap makes sense.

2016 pick will be late? Im not so sure, who knows we could easily be horrible by then

Draft picks and young players doesn't always translate into 54 win seasons. Rebuilding generally takes a long time and usually a young player or two is moved to bring in a star. They won't be good for awhile.

Some fans keep hanging their hat on 54 wins. yes it was nice to win 54 but once again the playoffs werent too impressive. I mean we almost blew a 3-0 series lead to a broken down and injured Boston team. then we got our ass handed to us by Indy

My point was 54 wins is a long way from a rebuild. The Celtics got rid of a 37 year old that was considering retiring, a soon to be thirty six year old that they were considering not picking up the option on and another thirty six year old that had struggled for most of the season. It was time for them to rebuild and they got a lot for their old hofs. The Knicks star is 29 and Tyson is 30. You don't rebuild after your most successful season in almost two decades. The Knicks won 23 games a few years back. It was horrible. If you are building through the draft it takes a long time. If Boston keeps Rondo at least they have a star that helps attract free agents. Look at the Nets who had cap space and wanted guys and couldn't get anybody. They tried to build through the draft and free agency for years. You don't want that if you don't have to go there.

well to be fair the celtics have been a much more successful franchise. I love the Knicks and happy we won a lot of games BUT at the same times we have won 1 playoff series in 13 years so its tough to get too excited until we see them have a better run

I would feel a lot better if I thought this was the start of an upswing the truth is its the peak and its going to go down from here. I wouldnt mind but without any future assets competing for a championship isnt happening. Maybe when we get all are picks back in 2017 we will build it the right way

I agree. i mean i want this team to win so damn badly. We are a playoff team whihc is nice but this group just isnt good enough to get past teams like miami indy and chicago.

When did they try to build through the draft for years?Kidd left, 1 season happened then they got Deron. The last time they built through the draft they went to the finals twice. Kidd was the piece they traded for, tied it all together but he was obtained with a high pick player Marbury. Martin Jefferson,Kittles , Collins were all huge pieces through the draft they would of had Kobe to if he would of played there.

These are some of the same people that had the Knick's finishing 6th in the East in their most recent season predictions. These experts are typically wrong.

Barg's has many liabilities but he will most likely provide more consistent shooting and be a solid PnR option.

My favorite game the media plays is: "Player x is a Knick= Player x sucks; Player x is no longer on Knicks= Player x is great".

Players values seem to increase or decrease depending on whether they are Knicks- remember Gallo, Mosgov and Chandler where "over-rated", poor players who Denver would be crazy to accept in the Melo deal, but as soon as they became Nuggets they were all hidden gems! This summer they've even been saying Toney Douglas was a great signing by the Warriors!

Unfortunately now Bargs is a Knick he is the worst player in the nba.

I think its more likely 6th then 2 again. I think there r 3 teams a lot better then the Knicks and then Chicago who I think is better

That's just fortuitous coincidence- we just happened to suck for 90% of the last 12 years
