This Amare Stoudemire injury/contract situation is reminding me of Allan Houston. Is there a way out?

I don't think getting out of the deal is the way to go. If he is healthy this year - great (he has bounced back before). If he is damaged goods for good, well then he comes off the books right in time or could be used an expirting contract to get long term assets for a team trying to shed 2015 space

Yeah at this point he only has 2 seasons left so no reason to do anything with him. Play him off the bench, if he excells in limited minutes great, if not he can be a professional and stay on the bench.

Best is to root hard for his return and hope his contribution helps the upcoming season.

If so, maybe next year a team sees him as the final piece and willing to trade an asset to put them over the top. By then we may be Melo-dramatic if he bolts. We might look different in a year.

Sure, as long as we take a bad contract back

Yep if we hadnt traded every single pick away and let cheap productive players like Cope walk for nothing this may be different.

by the time Amare contract expires, Melo and Tyson will be on their way down. that's why I think either do something yo replace Amare or blew it up.

Melo just turned 29. Still young guy. Tyson only a year older.

“The main thing with Amar’e, he needed rest,’’ Woodson said. “Last summer, he put in a lot of time. He had some bad luck - I call it. Because he worked his ass off last summer. This summer we’re resting him and making a push to get him ready for vet camp. Then we’re going to have to monitor him through vet camp and through the season to make sure he’s there every night for us to play.’’

“Right now, as it stands, he’s going to be on some restrictions. What those restrictions will be, I don’t know yet.’’

I am glad the Knicks are limiting the work Amare puts in this offseason. I believe it was McDyess that wasn't allowed to play ball in the offseason and it extended his career.
