That trade is a steal for the Knicks.

You don't think the Celtic would trade Rondo for Shumpart and basically two 1st round picks <Hardaway & future pick>(and filler to make the salaries equate)? They just gave away Pierce and KG for ostensively 3 1st rounder.

Are you stopping to take into consideration that Rondo is 25 years old and in the prime of an elite career while Pierce and Garnett have any one or two seasons left in their career? It will take heaven and earth for the Celtics to consider moving him; much more than what you are purposing. Look at what the Clippers had to give up to get Chris Paul and that would be the ballpark package we'd need.

You need to consider that Rondo does not want to be a Vet on rebuilding team after years of intense success under Doc Rivers.

That's fine. He is under contract, which effectively means that the Celtics can choose the team he goes to and not the team that he favors most. We're not going to get him with the package you're purposing.

Well if I am the Celitics in rebuilding mode.
If I can get a future building block like Shumpert, 2 1st round picks and Felton for Rondo... I'd pull the trigger.

What's the point in building around a 21 year old Iman Shumpert who is little more than Toney Allen with a jump shot, when you can build around a 25 year old Rondo who has already proven capable of being the best player on a contender?
shumpert is 23

The point is you get get 2 1st rounders and a vet pg who plays with toughness.
They can play for the lottery this year and piece together a contender within few short years by trading building/trading some of their youth and signing FAs (like the Rockets are doing).

Again, why build around a 23 year old Shumpert, when you can build around a 25 year old Rondo?

Contract wise, I don't see how this can happen. We just sent 2 good size contracts in Camby and Novak in the pending Bargs trade. Unless you trade Tyson, Hardaway Jr and Shump for Rondo and Courtney Lee. Then the contracts match.

Yeah, but it will be hard for them to tank if Rondo is still on the squad lol I'm sure any package for Rondo will involve taking back Green or Bass.

Isn't Rondo recovering from Knee surgery. I don't think he will be very effective next year.

According to Marc Stein on ESPN.com, the Mavericks reached out to the Celtics regarding Rajon Rondo and were told it would take Dirk Nowitzki to get a deal done. That ain’t happening.

Unless Shumpert somehow surpasses Dirk's legacy over the summer then well we have no shot at landing Rondo...especially after the Bargs trade debacle.

i MEAN why stop at rondo.. lets see if we can trade for lebron, Durant and westbrook as well... we couldn't get rondo if we offered carmelo, chandler and shumpert.... I mean we have to look at value. I think everyone ignores value... the celts asking for dirk should tell you all you need to know..

The answer is no! I would not trade Shump unless we are getting Chris Paul, LeBron, Durant, or an elite big man. After the way Shump stepped up for us in the playoffs he is almost untouchable.

I love Shump but considering we are win now mode you would have to pull the trigger on this. Of course, there is no way that Boston would agree to such a deal so kind of pointless.

Iman Shumpart has immense potential to be a defensive game changer for years to come, and be groomed into a 15 PPG scorer within 3 years. Would you send Shumpert in a deal for Rondo?

Absolutely - without?

Shump greatly overrated and Rondo likely underrated on this board.

Shump is a roll player - maybe a bit more than that. Rondo is a top 5 pg in his prime.

Ask yourselves this, how many championship teams in the last 5 years had an elite PG? None. Now how many had an elite defensive two way playing wing? All of them. Elite defensive wing > elite PG not named Chris Paul

Why ask ourselves that? What's so special about 2009 that makes it the cut-off date for the analysis?
