Explain all the struggles with 3pt competitions, wide open 3's in games, etc?

I didn't even like the pick but that kid has the tools to be a very very good SG, including a beautiful stroke. Clean up his shot selection and he is a different player. That is perhaps the easiest thing to do, unless your name is JR (Smith!), which even he cleaned things up a bit.

@earthman...i was just responding to someone who said that he wasnt impressed with those shots going in. i admitted that anyone can shoot well and get lucky when theyre wide open (even myself)..but yes im impressed with him too
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

pressure is on, fans watching, noise. lots more distractions compared to a draft workout.

No this doesnt mean he'll be a great player or even a greater shooter. I just thought it was kind of cool (and for me somewhat nostalgic)

I just remembered that I dropped 19-20 high school three pointers hitting 15 in a row before missing. I couldn't even make the JV team because I sucked at everything else.

Well, I hit 8-9 straight threes against xNBA / NFL players at my local gym. And I was 39 yrs old (just turned 40). That has nothing to do with a young 6'6 Hardaway pedigree, that has a 38" vert, damn near hit every single jumper he took.....Inside and beyond the NBA 3.

I'm not worried about his release.....He will have plenty of time to get his shot off, when playing in the System. Feeding off of Melo double teams. There's more positives than negatives in this clip.....

- Nice Shooting Stroke
- Great Shooting Consistency
- Great work ethic
- Competitive

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

Man people are too much. We drafted Shump who had nowhere NEAR this level of shooting ability and all people can do is piss on T Jr. as if he's gonna be some bum. People have to take into account that sometimes players look worse than they are based on the system they play in and the coaching they get or don't get. Woody isn't gonna let this kid go out there willy nilly. He'll have more focus. Also after college most kids get legit pro instruction and for the 1st time they have all the time in the world to really work on their game. This is why kids often look much more impressive in the combines, cuz they've been working on everything after the end of the college season.

Also you can tell just by looking at a player if they have legit shooting touch and with a kid like T Jr. he probably was making some small mistake in his shooting form or shot selection that was messing up his %. I can't wait to see this kid for real and get a better idea of how he does on the next level. Hopefully he's the kind of solid perimeter player we need on this roster.

This reminds me of Kyrie Irving. I watched a couple of his NCAA games and he never looks like he would come close to a star in any of the games I watched. Once he was drafted dude turned into a superstar. Some people are just better at the NBA game than NCAA. One reason for the difference may be the zone.

Yup! Also we don't know what the college coach asked him to do. I think too many fans that just don't like his being picked are jumping on any opportunity to talk bad about this kid. Someone saying his shot is slow! PLEASE Joe Johnson and Paul Pierce have very slow shooting motions too. The real secret is knowing how to create space to get your shot off, which it seems T Jr. is able to do. There's a reason this kid went 24. He's not that superstar type of player. That doesn't mean he won't be really good for this team. He's clearly a guy that can excel in a team concept which is what we should be looking to do more of this year, rather than going ISO too much. RUN SOME DAMN PLAYS WITH MOTION!!! That's what he excels at.

I'm not saying its a negative, I'm just saying that practice shooting is not an indicator of anything at the level that NBA players play. They all can shoot with accuracy.

Oh, so there is no pressure when you are playing for your draft position, your future? I think we are just talking perspective. If what you are saying was the case, then most guys would have incredible workouts, right? Anyway, if there was no pressure then the bar would be equal across the field, so it is irrelevant.

@callmened - My bad. Anything is possible but my point above is pretty valid I think. (Though the season will tell!)

The zone really stops athletic guys (and others as well) from showing off their stuff.
Also, playing in a system that is structured, where you are trying to make things work, can make you fly under the radar. It happened to Wilson Chandler I believe.
I wasn't happy with the pick (as usual) but after looking closer I am content. (I was happy with Shump from the get go, though Faried was who I wanted.)

You can't compare Rautins and Nichols to T Jr.. I mean come on. This is the kind of typical Self hating Knick fan crap I just laugh at. It's easy to pick out a few draft duds and totally ignore the guys that work out. There are no predictions of greatness for T Jr. just an expectation of being a solid role player which makes sense for a #24 pick. From the get go Rautins and Nichols were long shots to even make the team and never expected to be more than help off the bench.

T Jr. is probably a solid shooter off the bench at worst and could be a starter if he fully maxes out his potential. I don't see any problem with that. At least we can envision his role quite clearly.

Yeah, muscle memory. Unfortunately, his muscles will remember he was standing calm and still, flat-footed on the floor. The Rautins video at least shows a better shooting drill. You see, in real basketball games you normally spend alot of time running around before you shoot. Alot.

And if this Dave Hopla shooting j's flat footed without jumping drill is so great, how come Jason Kidd couldn't hit layups at the end of the season? No muscle memory for old folks?

And no one could ever, EVER call me a Knicks hater.

Woodson will most likely be parking his azz on the far end of the bench until maybe the all star break.

One thing working in THJr's pedigree is his low usage rate in college. If anything, this projects well into him adjusting to being a 3/4/5th option on offense and being a role player.

More than a fair share of players come to the NBA with massively inflated stats based on being superstars on their college teams and that spells bust if they can't crack into the rotation as a 1-2-3 option.

I think Hardaway has the upside of a better pro player, all things considered. But based on his college experience he shouldn't have a problem playing a role immediately, that is, if the minutes go his direction... (this would be enabled if Shumpert shows he's capable of playing PG!).
