We will of course look to make the playoffs during this time and fight to get out of the first rd, but at the end of the day the ultimate goal needs to be to add at least 2 more Shumpert level prospect pieces to go along with Melo(resigned), Shump(QO), Hardaway, maybe Felton, & hopefully Leslie can stick. Then with the major cap space go for broke to sign 2 studs or 1 stud and some quality core players.

IMO that should be the line of thinking. Not how we can compete with the big dogs today but how can we build a championship caliber team in 2015/2016. There could be a lot of young talent available around that time. We could be in the mix to par Irving and Love together with Melo. That of course is the best case scenario with low odds of happening but its possible and worth the shot.

If we fail again this year then i would seriously look to tarde melo especially as he gets older his production will probably drop off. I am all for gearung up for 2015 and starting over again

Depends on what you would get for Melo, but IMO looking to add 2 more studs with Melo would be the best way to go after a chip.

Melo would have to take less money and i doubt that would happen. i mean i still believe that if melo just waited to sign with us during free agency we would be better off now

We would not be better off if he waited..A few guys here would be happy because Gallo would be in a Knick uni..If Melo waited, Knicks would have resigned Gallo, Will, and Felton...Gallo at 10 mil...you would have to pay Will more because when healthy he actually put up better numbers than Gallo..Do will at 8/9 per and Felton at 7 per, Moz at 3 mil...Instead of that Crew, we have Tyson, JR, and KMart...We currently have better players at a cheaper wage..So it was good we got rid of those contracts..

If the Knicks waited you assume that the Nuggets aren't trading Melo at the deadline to another team. Knowing that Bosh and LBJ had just left their franchises with nothing in return the Nuggets goal at the time was to get something for Melo. While I know the Nuggets were moving Melo at the deadline if you play it out and say that he isn't traded you now are expecting the guy to take 25 million less to play for the Knicks. I don't think he does that and I don't think it is realistic to expect guys to do that. The if the Knicks waited scenarios always result in the Knicks getting everything and the Nuggets losing a franchise player for nothing and Melo giving up a fortune to show he has character and is all about winning. It wasn't happening. There were other organizations and individuals that would have lost a tremendous amount in the fantasy scenario many around here kill Melo for.

They also held no expectations on Lin taking less money to be here...
