We will of course look to make the playoffs during this time and fight to get out of the first rd, but at the end of the day the ultimate goal needs to be to add at least 2 more Shumpert level prospect pieces to go along with Melo(resigned), Shump(QO), Hardaway, maybe Felton, & hopefully Leslie can stick. Then with the major cap space go for broke to sign 2 studs or 1 stud and some quality core players. IMO that should be the line of thinking. Not how we can compete with the big dogs today but how can we build a championship caliber team in 2015/2016. There could be a lot of young talent available around that time. We could be in the mix to par Irving and Love together with Melo. That of course is the best case scenario with low odds of happening but its possible and worth the shot.
If we fail again this year then i would seriously look to tarde melo especially as he gets older his production will probably drop off. I am all for gearung up for 2015 and starting over again
Depends on what you would get for Melo, but IMO looking to add 2 more studs with Melo would be the best way to go after a chip.
Melo would have to take less money and i doubt that would happen. i mean i still believe that if melo just waited to sign with us during free agency we would be better off now
We would not be better off if he waited..A few guys here would be happy because Gallo would be in a Knick uni..If Melo waited, Knicks would have resigned Gallo, Will, and Felton...Gallo at 10 mil...you would have to pay Will more because when healthy he actually put up better numbers than Gallo..Do will at 8/9 per and Felton at 7 per, Moz at 3 mil...Instead of that Crew, we have Tyson, JR, and KMart...We currently have better players at a cheaper wage..So it was good we got rid of those contracts..
