Like Melo became the whipping boy for those who blame him for "forcing the trade" that involved Gallo...

Well do the math yourself...Knicks+Melo+Woodson-MDA-Gallo=54 wins and into the second round..The Heat is showing you that a team need more than one player if its going to win ...54 wins and second round is a start..Get him another player...I am convince that Melo and one other stud can beat the Heat..Melo and Chris Paul can beat the Heat..We need one more guy...UNO..

Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari could return by December as opposed to February, a league source told The Denver Post.

Gallinari, who underwent knee surgery at the end of the season, had been projected by the Nuggets to miss half of the 2013-14 season. But Gallo posted a video on his official Facebook page Friday in Italian, and in the video Gallo said his left ACL wasn't torn and his recovery time will be "completely different" than previously reported, according to the Italian journalist Davide Chinellato. He is a writer for Italian La Gazzetta dello Sport and translated Gallo's video and posted the quotes on Twitter).

Chinellato tweeted that Gallo called it "great news." Here are more tweets from him:

exactly....I said this many times.. let him stand on his own... but he can't and people won't defend him that way... never have I heard a so called star having to be defended by pointing out the shortcomings of a so called "lesser player".. go figure...

when they were both knicks there were endless arguments about the relative merits of chandler and gallinari. i always believed that gallinari would end up being considered the more valuable starter because he is more skilled on both ends of the court. i like chandler a lot but he looked a little overwhelmed this postseason. both he and brewer do not have the kind of games that translate well in playoff competition unless they are coming off the bench for the majority of their minutes. in the playoffs the value of gallinari is his ability to get to the line, slowing the game down against teams like the warriors. he also makes better decisions with the ball than chandler and brewer. chandler is a bit too shot-happy compared to gallinari, which also drives down his value in the playoffs.

I do understand to some extent why posters here have a bone to pick for those who champion Gallo. Yeah the Nuggets missed Gallo's presence this playoffs but ultimately Denver lost because of their lack of defending GSW's back court and unless you truly feel Gallo could have done that whether individually or through team defense, you're fooling yourself.

Here's what's more intriguing IMO which is why I can't stand when too many concessions are made for Gallo. If you look at last yrs playoffs, you know the one in which the Nuggets played the Lakers in the first round you'll notice Chandler didn't play 1 game. Barely heard a peep of his absence from the Gallo crowd. You say Gallo's game is built for the playoffs...well look at his numbers in that series and you'll see they weren't any better than Chandler's against GSW.

Numbers don't lie...matter of fact Gallo had 2 completely dud performances

Not to defend Gallo who really didn't play as good as he could, but there was nobody on the level of Artest's defensive intensity on the warriors roster this year.
Unfortunately for Gallinari, he struggles a lot against physical defenders like Artest, especially when they're allowed to rough him up a little. Gallo did have really good games against the Warriors during the season and posed heavy matchup issues to GS.

Him being there during the GSW series would have helped a lot, as well as David Lee not being hurt as it pushed the Warriors into playing a guard heavy lineup to which Georges Karl didn't adjust at all.
The Nuggets were also really bad at defending the 3pts shot and Curry blossomed during that series before tweaking his ankle against the spurs. Perfect storm.

you make some great points.. but even if gallo just had a bad series, regardless of who was guarding him, it wasn't great, but if we are going to judge gallo based on one series, then shouldn't we already have come to the conclusion that carmelo is a playoff loser after 11 seasons? no excuses...

Again, pointing out gallo's flaws by some posters doesn't make carmelo's past any better...

I think 3g was just saying keep some perspective when judging any player....
