Maybe he could be a Kawai Lenard type? Don't know much about the kid.

Is that a bad thing we are picking #24

He has a sick physical body freak like. When was the last guy measured at 6-9 240 with a 7-3 wingspan and a a nearly 38 inch vertical? Its like a Lebron James body. So will he play hard and play his role rebounding opportunstic shot making exploding on fast brek defense? If he can watch out--hell be a lottery type talent as a 4 man like a Josh Smith. If he can be a player like that--thats a nice pick at 24 I hope the Knicks can find a high 2 pick and grab a PG if we go big--we are desperate for a solid back up. A Tony Mitchell Isiah Cannan draft would make us much more athletic. I like both of their bodies for the nBA.

Jason kidd had a wp-48 of .231 ranking him the third best pg in the league. WOW is a joke at times. After January Kidd had a TS% of 43.2 and made the team worse offensively.

One thing that will help him is going later in the draft where he would be expected to play a role and then maybe grow. A team can spoon feed him season to season. The one thing most reports say is that his defense did not fall off that much which is a good thing.

I wouldn't mind an offseason of Mitchell in the draft and picking up Al-Farouq Aminu at the min to add to the young talent pool. Aminu has history with Hopla and more time with him could really help his shooting. With no mechanical issues he could improve over time but play like Ronnie Brewer used to when he was at utah for the meantime. Mitchell and Aminu would probably change the defensive ability of the whole team.

Jason Kidd was playing really good there for a bit of time--and then fell off the page. I think at 40 if its a back injury youre done. His collapse was quick and aggressive.

Aminu would be great on this team. Very good rebounder for his position, great athlete and finisher.

Knicks draft watch: Point Guard Myck Kabongo

Now that Jason Kidd has gone from donning a jersey to wearing a suit in less than a week, and Pablo Prigioni is still weighing his options, there's suddenly a big void behind starting point guard Raymond Felton.

The Knicks will likely look to remedy that situation during the June 27 NBA Draft, either with their No. 24 pick or perhaps by buying back into the second round, since they currently don't have a second-round pick.

Should they look at point guard with their pick, there's one guy who said he's anxious to come in and try to fill the considerably large role of the first lead guard off Mike Woodson's bench -- former Texas Longhorns star Myck Kabongo.

Kabongo, whose first name is pronounced like "Mike," is a Toronto native whose unique spelling rivals his unique speed. The sinewy point guard is as quick as any player with the ball currently in the league and feels like he can actually raise the competitive nature of a veteran-laden Knicks' team that must know their window for winning is closing quickly.

"I'll definitely bring a competitive nature because I'm a competitive guy. I love competing every day," said Kabongo at the Knicks' facilities after a recent workout. "I can change speeds that can very much affect the game at this level ... [and] once I learn from the great coaches and players at this level, I'll be even better."

Kabongo, projected as a late first-round or early second-round prospect, is a pass-first lead guard who has the ability to score, much like Felton. He averaged 14.6 points, 5.5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season, despite missing 23 games due to an NCAA-sanctioned suspension.

The 6-foot-1 guard was big enough to finally admit his mistake -- he apparently wasn't forthcoming to the NCAA on two separate occasions when he denied accepting airfare and personal training instruction with a trainer who was hired by an NBA agent -- and is ready to move on from the incident. His mea culpa was just another step in his maturity, as the incoming rookie said he's now looking to do whatever he can to show he belongs on a roster that is brimming with experience.

Kabongo added that while he's disappointed he'll never get to call Kidd a peer or teammate, he'll settle for trying to fill his shoes.

"My eyes teared up," he joked when asked if he wanted to be able to call Kidd a teammate. "But what J.Kidd did for the league and for his position ... amazing. The things that he's done in 19-something years, it's sad [to see him retire], but at the same time it's an opportunity."

Kabongo has a very high ceiling if he can continue to develop his body, cut down on his turnovers, and develop a more consistent jump shot. Kabongo has all the tools to be a great NBA point guard but needs the coaching to put those tools to use. It's almost surprising that Myck didn't stay another year or two in college considering his current draft stock, which slates him near the end of the first round or the beginning of the second. Had he stayed in school, he likely could have become a lottery pick. At the least, Kabongo will be a very good backup point guard. Kabongo's ability to run an offense and make proper passes will always give a player like him value in the NBA

The entire article is long but gives a good scouting report of Kabongo. Apparently part of the reason he dropped in the draft was because he was suspended for 23 games this year.

Rotoworld's Steve Alexander has some guys dropping in his mock. I only looked around where the Knicks are picking. He has Plumlee dropping to the Nets and Olynck going to the Knicks. His mock is from Thursday.

Myck Kabongo would be an awesome pick for NYK! Solid point guard, with a developing mid range game.. can drive left or right.. extremely quick and crafty. Some believe that #24 may be a reach for him... but I think he may go before the Knicks select. smh.. I actually like his upside better than most of the point guards projected ahead of him!

I like kabongo also. Some mocks have him going in the second round. I think he fell because of his suspension. Maybe the k icks catch a break and he is available when they pick.

From the Clippers official NBA page....

The group included Pierre Jackson, a senior from Baylor, South Dakota State’s Nate Wolters, Texas sophomore Myck Kabongo and seniors Isaiah Canaan (Murray State), Mark Lyons (Arizona) and Erick Green (Virginia Tech), who led the nation in scoring last season.

Id prefer Isiah Cannan. I thought about taking him 21 in the mock--take a look at the physical shape this guy is in right now on the new videos. He really does look like a young Tim Hardaway--he is put together. But the bottom line is there really is a plethora of PG's in this draft that will make the NBA way down into the 2nd round and even undrafetd. I think the KNicks will take Erick Green or Larkin if they are there.

If you are looking for 1 player who will likely be available in the 20s and can have the largest impact right away, maybe even start, its Reggie Bullock. 6'7 F/G athletic shooter/defender/finisher. Guy has Danny Green written all over him. There are other guys like Muscala, Mitchell etc who have better upside, but Bullock would potentially start next to Melo at the 3 next season. Not necessarily my first choice, but he's a guy that helps you right away and will likely be a sleeper. He's one of the only wings i am interested in.

There are many good choices--its a much better draft sans the top spot than people were purporting. The NBA finals will make guys like Bullock Crabbe a few more dollars in the draft. Hes a darkhorse pick for the Knicks for sure. I think they said he made 30 consecutive 3 pt shots while shooting for the kNicks. I still believe 1 and 4 are the main spots we need help in. Kidd is done my guess is Prigioni is gone and then we have to be lucky with al of that cap space out there for a pro PG back up.
