What we NEED is Kevin Love. Let Amare expire when he does and go all in this dude. In the meantime do everything we can to get our hands on a good PG - floor general and convince Prigs to stay.

Make Melo understand that the offense will flow through Kevin Love and not him. But he will still get most of his shots anyway. If KLove is impossible- I would go for Pau Gasol.

I don't hold Chandler blameless but I think his frustration had less to do with not being involved in the offense and more to do with how putrid our "offense" actually was. He was asking for alley-oops because nothing else was going in anyways. It was clear to him and a bunch of others watching the game that Woodson's offense would fail spectacularly against a well coached team defense and it did.

Melo is not versatile because he doesn't defend consistently. He doesn't need to be lock down he needs to be consistent and he needs to care enough to actually work on it. He isn't and he doesn't. That much is obvious.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

I think i'd like to change the point of emphasis from Melo and JR with a little bit of Felton, to having a better PG and more dependable SG to run the offense thru. It would keep everyone else more involved if the bulk of our offense was dependent upon two ISO players. Not being able to effectively run NBA level sets is a huge problem in the playoffs.

Sure we need a PF and back up C, but what really killed us was not being able to score. The lack of flow to the offense is insane. Just watching a high quality offense like the Spurs run shows you how far we are from the ideal. Even against the best D the Heat can play, the Spurs offense looks fluid. The Knicks didn't look fluid even against the Celtics and forget about the Pacers. Those are tough defenses, but superior offense will beat great D IMO. People get it twisted sometimes. In the finals usually both teams can defend, so you've got to have a superior offense in order to get over the top. Knicks didn't lose cuz they couldn't defend. They simply couldn't score.

If we had a speedy drive and kick PG off the bench rather than Kidd or a mobile catch and shoot SG rather than ISO JR, that could've made a huge difference. You saw how just a hot spurt from Cope or Shump made a difference. Imagine having a rotation with reliable scoring at PG and SG. Players that demand attention from the defense. That would help to make Melo more effective. Tyson would be more effective if the defense had to give help all the time. This team needs a lot given the players we'll have to replace, but there are specific qualities that would make a huge difference.

Tyson was really out of line going to the media. You don't lead that way and he was brought in to lead, rebound, play d and set picks. He did a really bad job in all of those areas against the pacers. The Knicks have too much invested in him to be able to win if he performs like he did against the Pacers. They are already in bad shape because of Amare's situation.
Ten Knickerbockers played in at least nine of the team's 12 playoff games - Tyson finished 8th in PER, ahead of only the two back-court black holes astronomers have dubbed "J.R. Smith" and "Jason Kidd

I want you to pay special attention to the defensive rebounding percentages, which I've highlighted - Chandler, the 7'1 defending Defensive Player of the year, only managed to post the sixth-best percentage on the team. I know rebounding isn't everything...but Jason Kidd? If you're going to be out-rebounded by a corpse, Tyson, at least let it be the corpse of a front-court player.

In terms of per-game defensive rebounding, Tyson came in fourth, behind Melo, Shump, and - I **** you not - J.R. STOP THE PRESSES - J.R. Smith did something better than someone else? And on a basketball court, no less? Hard to believe, I know, but it's true.
