I think the best option is to blow it up. Get something for Melo while his value is way up.

Would you do this trade?

I would offer this trade to Cleveland which would pair Melo with Kyrie Irving and they have their Bosh type player in Varejao which would play well with Melo.

Melo for Speights, Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters, Alonzo Gee, CLE 1st round pick 1st overall, both CLE 2nd round picks 31st and 33rd overall.

Why would CLE do this? This will leave CLE with a 1st round pick 19th overall so they still have some yoot coming in. They now will have a big 3 in Melo, Irving and Varejao that will actually work well together. They will also have some cap to sign a very good big in the mold of Al Jefferson or Paul Milsap. This roster will actually put them in the playoffs.

Why do we do this? We get their 1st round pick 1st overall. We get 2 young lottery players in Waiters and Thompson. We get 2 early 2nd round picks. We get yoothier right away.

We can then select Nerlens Noel with the 1st pick. Select Giannis Adetokoubo with the 24th pick. Select Muscala with the 33rd pick. Select Nate Wolters with the 31st pick.

Send Tyson out for the best offer.

That would be great for a year then in 2014 Melo terminates his contract. Also, Waiter and the 1st pick in the draft yuck. You think Amar'e gets his shot blocked Triston Thompsons gets his swatted back almost every other shot. THe early termination is what will deter teams from trading for Melo.

theyre are NOT going to blow up the team next yr. Melo, Tyson or Amare are NOT getting traded next yr

the following yr, i DOUBT melo leaves cuz he would lose up to 30mill

lastly, woody doesnt play young draft picks..so dont expect to see any contribution next yr

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

It's a forum. It's fun to brainstorm. I agree with you that they will not trade Melo but IMHO that is the only way to go. Sell Melo while he is high.

i get it...but nothing much will happen this offseason

i guess im new to these bball forums. in general i dont like to pontificate on things that most likely wont happen. i like to focus on the more realistic issues...like cheap free agents that are affordable.
