Blazers badly wants a "defensive Center". First Team Tyson fits that.

T'Wolves, I do not know why the T'wolves would take Tyson over Peko. Unless Saunders value Tyson more and wants a little more defensive rebounding.

What is Al-Farouq Aminu going for this summer? Yes he has been a disappointment but I would take a flyer on him for the vet min. 14m is a nice amount to chase any player with
Cp3 can probably get more but NO WHERE would he be able to market himself better than NYC
All State and many endorsements deals would be headed our way if he signs a 3 year deal with an opt out after 2nd which is when we can have the ability to resign
Lin is a complete joke when compared to Cp3 and I think SIGNING him with that 14 exemption is the closest we can get in building a team around Melo

Melo
Cp3
Amare (till the end of 2015) maybe in 2015 we can form a big 3 of Melo/Cp3/Aldridge or Love
JR
Iman

MLE
1st round pick

Pablo/Copeland to keep or send to a team like SA for 2nd round picks and salary exemption of about 5m together??

whatever 2nd round picks we acquire to get from Portland as they own picks 39,40, and 45
whether to use euro stash talent/high risk high reward development players/ or players that can contribute right away like Solomon Hill, Ryan Kelly

and another player in 2015 FA class to longer deals

About Al Farouq Aminu, he is the same guy that some here said was already better than Wilson Chandler
Those same people that said we won the Melo trade....

trade for Cp3
vs
Melo

Eric Gordon (is he really better than Gallo)
Aminu (are they better than Gallo/Chandler?)
1 1st round lottery pick from Cleveland is this better than 1 Knicks pick in 2014, swap in 2016, 2 GS 2nd round picks *one of which was predicted an early 2nd round pick*

AR worth a 2nd round pick at the time?
forget about the 40m we saved in salary + more in taxes with Curry's contract
Felton the turned in to the 1st rounder and Andre Miller

But you can't sign players with a trade exception. And, if we can't receive a player in a sign-and-trade if it puts us back over the apron.

Exactly, a trade exception is great when you have other assets but when you don't its just wasted space to use when someone wants to dump players like Memphis did. SO if you trade Tyson you need to get players, high draft picks, and 2 rds/euro stash n grabs. That way it gives you the ability to have something teams want to take back in a sign n trade.

We have a year to use the trade exemption from the date it would be acquired, while Cp3 would have all the leverage as a UFA to sign with a team or trade with NYK
So we would be under the tax threshold when FA starts, meaning we have the ability to use the full MLE of 5m, bi annual exemption of 2m

He can threaten to sign with Houston, Dallas, Pacer's *if they get rid of Granger's salary with amnesty or trade*
Heck, use 2018, 2020 picks for all I care, in addition to some of the 2nd round picks we acquire from Portland
Look at Marc Gasol *2nd round pick stashed* and how he was traded for Pau Gasol

We could still ship out Copeland/Pablo to SA for 2nd picks and 5m trade exemption
We still have the non guaranteed contracts of Q Rich, Earl Barron, Brewer's trade exemption
+ 150% rule to take back a contract like Caron Butler

RonRon wrote:he reminds of a Troy Murphy with less athleticism and not as good of a shooter in his better years
I don't think he fits well with Tyson Chandler *unless Chandler regains his mobility/speed/athleticism/strength and is a solid 1v1 defender and good help defender*
A lot of Chandler's improved rebounds have come from *TAP OUT's that should NOT be counted as a rebound but recently did*
For Tyson to be successful he must be the only weak link on the floor and play with a versatile SF and PF, including a PG that has the ability to penetrate and do a bit of everything
The team must also be aggressive and solid on DEF with good BB IQ and quite honestly, we didn't have that in addition to the health problems and effort problems of Chandler this play offs

They are just too slow as they both need to work on their speed with a better philosophy on OFFENSE than ISO to get role players involved in a system
As I suggested earlier, Camby was in Woodson's doghouse and DID NOT play because Woodson's loyalty to Chandler/Amare/Martin rather than "his injury of planter faciletes
He has always been productive when given 20-30minutes a game in his entire career and was NOT when playing under 15minutes a game
I still believe he can contribute at a high level and could be no worse than what Tyson Chandler was playing in this year's playoffs if given the chance

How Muscula develops, continues to work hard, and if he reaches his full potential is another story
To me, he is a 2nd round pick and not worthy of a our pick unless we trade down for him like Nate Walters, Pierre Jackson, both McCullums', with a few other players like Solomin Hill
I really like Pierre Jackson and see a bit of Nate Robinson with real PG skills unlike Nate's earlier years, and being a poor man's version of Cp3

For our pick, my opinion would be, we need to either upgrade PG *with speed/quickness to initiate the OFFENSE* or SF possibly SF/PF that can do a bit of EVERYTHING
We have 2 SG's in Smith/Iman that one play's SF and is just too small to defend Paul George/Lebron/Durant/Rudy Gay etc

Shane Larkin *which I think Pacer's will grab right before us*

Giannis Atedembo *he is a project, very young, is quite raw, but but his potential is quite high*
He is the SF/PF with all round skills, athleticism, length, versatility, all round skills, and huge hands
is only 18 and could still be growing as he continues to fill out body *only about 200 pds) and reminds me of a bit between AK47 and Ibaka

Both solid players that likely be ready to contribute right away but with less "potential"
Sergey Karasev a very good shooter that is a SF with good all round skills, and plays within a TEAM CONCEPT
Glen Rice JR with a taste of playing with D League and carrying the team to the finals

Both have good potential and can contribute but slightly too high for our pick
Allen Crabbe
Archie Goodwin

With Pablo and Copeland, I don't think it worth using our mini MLE to keep and I am 50/50 about Copeland *I think he is worth it but we have so many positions to fill and Woodson just doesn't utilize him to his strengths for the "big names like Amare and players that coach likes"
Say we can package both of them to The Spur's for a combined 5m trade exemption and 2 2nd round picks, one in this year's draft and next years draft, it is something we have to consider *would prefer Spur's 1st round pick this year but doubt that is happening*

Unless we can find a taker for Tyson CHandler to a team like Portland for multiple 2nd round picks (they have picks 38,39,45 this year), our 2nd round pick last summer *says he wants out of Portland*, and the trade exemption of 10-14m
Again, this isn't about getting value for Chandler himself, it is about going under the luxury tax, and regaining the flexibility/asset's/exemptions with 10-14m/ 5m MLE vs 3m mini mle, and possibly even the 2m Bi Annual Exemption
If we made a move like this I would be in favoring of keeping Copeland

But with Kidd already here, I just don't think Pablo is worth keeping with Felton unable to defend PG *for majority of the league* and SG's *for the contenders*
I think we just need much more speed on both ends of the floor on DEF and OFF, penetration, and ability to facilitate the team

With our 2nd year players in Q, Earl Barron, trade exemption in Brewer, + 150% rule, 3m in cash, I would target players *that are realistic options* like

Brandon Rush - he is coming of a knee injury but has a player option for 4m on 1 year
He was very efficient player in limited minutes, REB/DEF/1 block + 1 STEAL/ and had good length/athleticism

Barea(probably more realistic without including assets and just salary dump)

Ridnour/Sessions *would most likely require an asset with at least a 2nd round pick*
Nelson *not sure how we can get him since he has a higher salary though*

I wouldn't mind James Johnson as a vet min player and would give him a 2 year contract
We just need much more size in our SF/PF department
Stephen Jackson/Ron Artest(if amnestied) would fit the younger SF/PF as vet min contract is
Thing is we don't have much roster spots and Chris Wright would hold one as well while we need upgrades in many positions with a youth movement that can contribute and still continue to develop for our future

With all the players like Rhondo/Rose/Granger and team's improving with salary cap/exemptions/amenstied possibilities it would be a much tougher next season as this year was likely our best chance in going all the way/at least ECF
Scary thing about Pacer's is they could still trade Granger or at least amnesty him while still having the ability to go after a max layer like Cp3 or 2-3 solid players while keeping their core together with the development of Plumlee as their PF/C in his 2nd year

Still remember some poster's saying "PACER"S DO NOT strike fear in me"
Well Paul George is a big reason of their improvements that is a max talent that does not have EGO issues and plays well in all aspect's of the game in terms of DEF/Facilitating/Scoring or doing whatever is needed without for the benefit of the team rather than playing like he thinks he is a LEGEND already
His ability to defend Melo/Lebron 1v1 with Hibbert in the back helping is a big part of the Pacer's success with his combination of size/length/athleticism/ and all round skills
He is already more talented than Melo in all aspects of the game *besides scoring* and is only going to get better, while his "max pay" will be 5-10m less than what Melo could be starting at for his next contract in a Joe Johnson type deal
His talent is comparable to a younger Tmac/Grant Hill and with great DEF plus work ethic

I believe the Knicks being over the cap requires them to take back dollar for dollar in a trade. I believe that is part of the new cba. It was one of the reasons Coon suggested that the Knicks match Lin and then waive him in year three and use the stretch provision to lessen the cap hit. I could be wrong but I think this is how it is set up. Teams over the cap are very restricted in what they are allowed to do player movement wise. Also, I am angry with Tyson for going to the media about the team and coaches and taking no ownership for his play but I wouldn't trade him for just second round picks.

guys...lets be realistic about two things...whether we like it or not:

1. CP3 isnt coming to nyk
2. Tyson is NOT being traded

i say this with supreme confidence for several reasons:
1. lack of cap space
2. Grunny said he wont be making an sign and trade deals
3. Tyson had a bad playoff series and I believe he regressed this yr on defense but he was still voted 1st team allNBA. They made a big deal of him coming so there not going to get rid of him so soon

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Zwerlings latest article mentions the following possibilities:

PG- Dennis Schroeder
PG- Pierre Jackson
PG- Nate Wolters
PF/C- Jeff Withey

Any of them any good?

BRIGGS, myself and others have talked about these and other draft prospects in other threads..but in a nutshell:

PG- Dennis Schroeder = i never trust overseas prospects cuz i havent seen them in person. looks like a beverly type
PG- Pierre Jackson = i love his motor...has some NATE in him...(id pick him)
PG- Nate Wolters = luke ridnour clone...i think hell have a solid NBA career (size and skills) but hes slow on def and we dont need that
PF/C- Jeff Withey = i like his size and shot blocking ability...i hope hes STRONG enough though

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

The more and more I look at him--hes our pick. He makes a TON of sense. I wanted to draft Nate Wolters since November with Eric Green as a back up--but this kid for our team makes the most sense. This is a Spurs type pick. Hes NOT a C prospect--that is why he is not higher--he is miscatagorized as a 5 when he is in fact a 4. The differentiator from him and anyone else slotted to go anywhere near our area is that is skill set is superior by a fairly large margin to any big player. I think in almost any circumstance--go bigger first. This is a 611.5 PF with good speed length agility and two way skills. You like that he is the top NCAA passer for big men--that he has avag 2 blocks per game every yera for 4 years. That he has improved his skill set to a 20-10 level--I believe Vucevic had similar numbers. Someone is going to get from him is this--he is the Vucevic of this draft from the PF position. A team like the Knicks who need lengthy athletic 6-11 players--well? I do not think this player lasts out of round 1--in fact by bet is by 28 he is gone to the Spurs. I think we have a better chance of acquiring a 2nd round pick for a back up PG like Green Wolters or anyone else that may or may not like. We need the size first we have ray felton and starting a PG rookie is hard. Muscala will be able to play right away.

This guy looks really good. Do you think he moves up in the draft higher then 24? Draftnet doesn't even have him in the second round but he looks like at least a late first round talent. Also, does anyone know if the Knicks have already spent all of their 3 million allotted for transactions this year?

from what i know, the knicks havent spent anything yet (season just ended. lol). Theyre are rumors that JR will resign for 4yrs/22mil but remember THAT doesnt count for the 3mill MLE or salary cap cuz we have his bird rights

i dont think muscala will hey a lot of draft hype. when was the last time anyone good came from bucknell? there will be a lot of doubters due to the league he plays in. He just needs to work hard and have good NBA combines

I think the 3 mil for next season becomes available after the moratorium on signings for next year (7/9 or 7/10). For the Knicks to purchase a pick they would need to have some of that money left from 2012-2013 season. I was wondering if they have any of that cash left.

White's contract is confusing to me.

White has a team option for around $1 million next season that the Knicks have to decide on by June 30. If they decline, White will become an unrestricted free agent.

So, if they pick up the option is the year guaranteed or is it the team option that makes it non guaranteed?

White has a team option for around $1 million next season that the Knicks have to decide on by June 30. If they decline, White will become an unrestricted free agent.

So, if they pick up the option is the year guaranteed or is it the team option that makes it non guaranteed?

I believe the fact that it's an option makes it non-guaranteed; if we, or a team we trade him to, picks up the option his contract for next season would become guaranteed. At least that's how it usually works. If that report is correct I guess we would have to trade him at the draft to get any value.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

we have a 2nd rd pick?
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Jamelle Hagins would be a player under the radar as a F that has good rebounding/DEF skills/SHOT BLOCKING SKILLS as a PF next to Melo
He also has solid post skills, solid 4 year fundamentals, and with good foot work

For a mid/late 2nd rounder as well
Reminds me of a Millsap/Kenyon Martin/Trevor Booker and I have a good feeling he will be a solid pro without maturity issues which has produced all 4 years of college and was a TOP DEFENDER as well

also still like Jack Cooley especially if late draft or undrafted
I personally think Muscalla is a bit slow to play PF in todays league, the position has changed drastically the past few years
I am not saying he cannot play PF at times, I am saying he is too slow to play PF unless there is a mobile/athletic C that plays behind him for majority of the times
Like a Drummond would be perfect to team up with Muscala
I do think Muscala could be a solid player but think he is closer to a C for this team than a PF
We need more speed not to get slower vs our opponents set up for DEF
But more importantly, we need a PG with another G/F that can push the tempo, and take the facilitating out of Melo/Felton at times

I really believe that this draft there will be many solid players left in the mid/late 2nd round picks and Portland has picks 39,40,45 and a SF that we drafted
A PG will likely drop there as well
So I hope we can utilize this "weak" draft and get the maximize value for it with some steals, some that are on potential and some that can contribute right away

As for our 1st round pick

Shane Larkin
Giannes Adteombke

would be my 2 top choices if they fall

Still like James Johnson as a 2 year vet min deal
With either JO/Brandon Wright/Hiddaydi if we do trade Tyson Chandler
Forgot his name but kid at PF/C from Farmingdale as a high risk/high reward development player

not currently, I hope we can get rid of Chandler after his comments EVEN THOUGH HE IS RIGHT, he shouldn't lash out like that with his performance and keep it in the locker room

I see my trade with Portland as a realistic trade considering CHandler is OVERPAYED and not even close to top 10 center by any means
I fear injuries/age/years of NBA is catching up to him and he no longer possesses the combination of size/length/athleticism/speed/mobility that he once was
In fact he didn't even have much effort in terms of fighting for position/cutting and challenging layups dunks
It has been night and day from his first 2 seasons here and his last couple of months but Woodson still stood by him

i dont think muscala will hey a lot of draft hype. when was the last time anyone good came from bucknell? there will be a lot of doubters due to the league he plays in.

Ok, I just notice the draft is june 27. I thought it was later for some reason. I can definately see him traded to OKC for their late 1st rounder or in a pkg to help any other kind of trade.

To continue a discussion in another thread but giving it it's own subject re Mike Muscala
