How can we be talking about the need for a PG again? This is ludicrous. Last year, we let a 25 year old PG leave and got a 28 year old PG for cheaper. I thought the issue was closed. I guess not! Crazy. The only answer is Paul, that must be the plan, somehow, some way.

Lin was let go because Melo did not like him for whatever reason. Probably his ego. The thing is, Lin would probably take some of the heat off Melo. In the end, the difference in the regular season and playoffs was probably negligible.

As for Shumpert, I'd prefer him to learn to be a 2. A real 2. A guy who can come off screens and catch and shoot, a guy who can take a guy off the dribble and get to the rim and a guy who can shut down his opponent.

Lin's not even the best point guard on his team, currently.

Lin did not have a great year but overall it was good. The thing is, he still has an upside. Now for $8M and cap inflexibility, NY made a decision, I get that. However, Felton was supposed to be the answer and it is quite obvious that he is not. We know his ceiling and he did NOTHING this season and especially in the playoffs to make us think he can get any better. At times he was really good. At times really bad.

At times LIN was a superstar. At times he was really bad. A bit more upside, IMO.

I know its over and gone but this thread brought it all back for me. NY fans hoping for a new young PG yet again! LAst year they had one and the team threw him away.

Lin is only a 3 year deal. If he is worth it the Knicks can make a run at him summer 2015.

we'll probably overpay for him coming off a career ending injury. Perfect!

Let me say that I did not watch any of Lin's play either during the regular season or the playoffs. Looking at his numbers- yes, it appears he disappeared during the play offs.

But during the regular season, he ended with numbers very comparable to Felton.

The key with Lin was he had the upside to be a game changer. He might not get there.

But Felton is what Felton is.

There's only 2 real pgs in the nba.....the rest are combo guards. 2 guards....2 forwards......1 swing forward.....shump is a guard, not a forward.

The question should be will shump play one of the guard positions?

you mean nash and paul and you imply that the position, like the back to the basket center, is going extinct.

right?

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Lin isnt that good folks. He was out played by Beverly
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Great. A broken down Nash is our new saviour. We'd have a better shot at hoping for a Baron Davis comeback.

Shumpert's knee guarding PG's all season is a scary thought. For Shumpert, that is.

It's true if you're talking about the most recent sample size(playoffs).

Lin definitely did not get a chance to show what he can do in the playoffs. He got injured going after a loose ball and getting hit hard by OKC. If you look at the whole season though, anybody would have to admit that Lin had a better season than Beverley. Beverley is what he is, a tough all out type of player. He has very low BBall IQ though. Not a trait you want in a PG. We know what Lin is not. He is not a spot up player but this is where he was relegated for most of the year. Talk about setting him up for failure. I have a feeling that he might get traded but I doubt it. Morey loves this kid.

I watched a lot of Rockets games because I'm a Lin fan. I thought he was a all-star waiting to happen. instead what i saw was a solid-average NBA pg who could handle a team. Hes def an NBA player who can contribute; I just don't think hes an above avg PG. I guess i got caught in the Linsanity hype and i thought that would continue with the uptempo rockets. His shot improved and his turnovers decreased but in my opinion, beverly made that team better with his team and defense. In my opinion, Ray = Lin; theyre both solid starters who might be better backups (like Jarret Jack). i was PISSED when the knicks let him go but now im over it with no regrets. i dont think theres much potential even though hes still young and im afraid he mightve peaked already.

im not trying to make this a LIN thread though. He's gone and we should move on
