I believe we cannot match the offer of both Copeland or/and Pablo, at least not after 3m
If we do match, it will require using our MINI MLE, so either way we are screwed
Why would a team need to trade for them unless they are over the cap and do not want to spend the exemptions on them?
Spur's/Pacer's have the cap room to do such moves while they both will benefit of each other with the way they compliment each other

I think Copeland can easily get 3-5m depending on the number of years he wants
While Pablo can range from vet min to 2m

Again Miami will find many solid vet min players searching for their ring like Barnes/Dunleavey/Nate in addition to a 3m mini MLE steal like Tony Allen being a realistic target
In addition to the players in the East getting better with cap space/MLE/draft picks/trades and injuries the health of Rose/Rhondo/Wall etc

I would trade for Beasley before I waste the MLE on Copeland.

This isn't news. It was known when the new cba came out and was also discussed when Houston offered Lin the poison pill contract.

The only diff is that we could have matched anything to a billion dollars due to the NBA gift that Dolan rejected.

I know RonRon and Narddog were heartbroken by this realization. Guys were pretty much stuck with this team
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

The cba and the new rules were talked about a lot in the last offseason with the contracts offered to Lin and Fields. Not sure why this is considered news. It was a huge topic last summer.

Judging by Ronn (and some others) posts he already knew this so I doubt he is heart broken, can't speak for Narddog. Give me Tyson value to CLippers and I could think of ways to improve in theory.

It is considered as a valid topic to tackle due to the 2nd round exit. Unless the Knicks find the fountain of youth we really need to look at another alternative.

I agree - but will not happen. We are owned by owned being bad to mediocre is our sweet spot, we will again put together a team full of has beens and broken down old guys and the whole messgae board will jump up and down during regular season about 50+ wins. Then we will exit in the first round unles we get lucky again. The definition of insanity - Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Wow..Grunwald wants to go down with the ship ...I hope Kidd ignores him and call it a day...We don't need more GM's who doubles down to prove they are right...Kidd is done...

How is Grunwald sure of this? I mean, we should all be reasonably certain that our cap figure will be too high but the NBA doesn't release the actual numbers until sometime in July. I suppose if he's already counting the Smith brothers as already signed it makes sense.

P.S. Good thing we didn't match Lin's contract last summer, right? After all, the new CBA makes it harder for teams above the luxury tax. We're really going to need the cap space we're saving.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

I think he is keeping his few cards close to the vest. Ny should be under the apron once jr. opts out and the nee tax apron is established. the apron will probably rise to 76 million.

Actually Lin/Fields Houston have nothing to do with the predicament we're in but...

Kidd
Camby
Novak
Felton

What would be the alternative? I really think Grunwald was resourceful finding Cope and Prigs. Hopefully he nails the draft. Also, he signed some guys to team option second years so that their salaries could be used in trades this offseason. I believe he has a trade exception and a second round pick from the Brewer trade. I don't think there is much more he could do knowing that all of the money the team had locked up in the frontline. I have no issue with shopping Tyson. He might be moveable and I don't think he is worth the money.

I posted this topic because the Knicks could have made moves to get under the cap if they needed too. Grunwald is basically saying the Knicks are going to improve through other means excluding S&T's.

Novak and cash for Michael Beasley type deals need to be explored.

Beasley and JR on the same team

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Suns forward Michael Beasley is the subject of an investigation regarding an alleged sexual assault, according to police in Scottsdale, Ariz.

ABC15.com reports that the alleged assault took place on Jan. 13.

“At this point we can only say the investigation is ongoing,” said David Pubins, Scottsdale police spokesman. “We are interviewing those involved and processing any physical evidence we may have to try and determine if criminal charges are appropriate.”

KTAR also reported the investigation.

This is the second time during Beasley’s tenure in Phoenix that he has found himself in hot water. Word broke in February that Beasley was cited on Jan. 25 for multiple driving violations for driving 71 mph in a 45-mph zone at 1:10 a.m. in a Mercedes that did not have a license plate. Beasley was driving on a suspended license and a loaded gun was found in the vehicle. Suns management did not discipline Beasley after the incident.

If he's expecting to sign JR to around $5M/year plus whatever Chris Smith is getting then he's probably right no matter how much the luxury tax is realistically raised.

Beasley is a disaster. I wouldn't want anything to do with him.
