Boy I was watching that game and I keep thinking that man we were a controversial blocked shot at a dunk away from possibly having a game 7 with a chance to go to the ECFAfter thinking about it--we must stay course--but some change is needed. The foundation if the team is Carmelo Shumpert Felton Amare(as new 6th man) The disappointment to me--the reason why this series was lost falls on Chandler. Chandler if he played big--we wouldve won. Thats two years in a row--and now the Knicks have to weigh on the question of can we do this with Chandler? Can Chandler make a commitment to come back and make a 12 foot jumpshot and one post move to expand his game? Will he lift weights and put 10-15 pounds of muscle on a body that was overwhelmed by a bigger man? If he can come in to the office and say I need to work and put on a little weight and strength--add some much needed offense to my repetoire---than keep him. It's easier to go with what you have --it will be hard to trade him right now but it can be done Im sure.
Stay the course plan
A. Decide what we want to do with Chandler--if he commits to putting on 15 pounds of muscle and brings back some offense in terms of one post move and a 14 foot jumpshot--then I say we roll with him. He has to improve he cannot rest on what he has done personally in the NBA--he has to admit he needs to get stronger and come back with a simple form of an offensive game
B Include Amare in a role for 24 minutes as sixth man
B. darft pick 24 we need proven and athletic Larkin Greene Hardaway and I still sticking to Wolters
C Buy a 2nd round pick and go for Branden davies hes athletic 6-10 245 with length perfect 4 size with a skill package
D. Go big with the MLE If it was me I would go very hard after Blatche first Kaman and Dalembart second
E. Resign Copeland Smith and Martin to reasonable contracts if not goodbye
F. See if there is a market for Steve Novak for a trade for a G or draft pick
G Opportunity knocks. If a guy like Paul Pierce became available for the MLE or anything like that--offer team the MLE
H. Get Kidd and camby to retire
Were not far off. Stay the course and try to improve the team. Mandate Chandler to get stronger and come in with post moves. Get Amare on page with a 24 minute 6th man role. Shumpert gets a whole 5 months to get stronger. Get two draft picks who can contribute especially pick 24 to out transition game that has been so bad. Use some money and get a young big PF like davies. Get the best bang for your buck with the MLE start big but lets see who is there.
I dont have a problem with this. JR Smith probably destroyed his open market value in the postseason. The chances of him getting a big deal now is next to nothing. Copeland looks like he is developing into a nice rotation player I wonder if a team will come in and snatch him from the knicks. Martin is worth keeping but after his play will probably field a few offers with the same amount of money. he could be gone. Novak is awful but I dont think trading him is out of the question. I think we could get a draft pick for him. What about the PG situation? Felton is mediocre and Jason Kidd is done. I thought Prigs played well and I would bring him back
