So if we are able to trade Tyson Chandler to a team that is under the cap and can is willing to take his contract it would give us much more flexibility to continue to build a team around with what we have vs the limited abilities we have with being over the tax with overpaid players and little ability outside of vet min contracts, 3m MLE, and our 1 draft pick I can see teams like Pacers/Spurs/Clippers getting much deeper with their team and with their flexibility in their cap
just by offering a little bit more |

We're suppose to be a title contending team, so I can't see us trading a significant member of the team for essentially nothing. That trade exception would only be pursued if there was a current star that is available, which I don't think any team would give up for cap space/flexibility. Besides, the Blazers should at least give up their draft pick in this draft for a top 10 center in the league. |

![]() The team has options besides trading Chandler. They can trade Camby to a team looking to dump cash if they give them 3 mil to pay for Camby's contract next year. I could see Orl giving up on Jameer or Afflalo.

![]() I don't think we'll have a 2nd round pick for the rest of the decade. We traded a ton of picks.

Nelson and Afflalo are starters, so we'd need assets that include young players and/or pick(s) to interest in a rebuilding franchise. |

I hope they find a way to bring back Cope, Martin and JR. I worry about the Knicks having to rely on KMart/Amare too much if they trade Tyson. Both guys have had micro fracture surgery and I think KMart benefitted from having a long time off this year.CrushAlot wrote:RonRon wrote:I wonder if we can get him back, with a trade exemption for Tyson Chandler with PortlandAre you suggesting the Knicks trade Tyson for the rights to their second round pick from last year and a trade exemption or am I misunderstanding something? Jermaine O'Neal is a free agent and he's managed to stay healthy/productive all season. Maybe we could sign him if he decides to note retire. Even we did sign him though, we'd still be pretty shaky at the 5 since I doubt he'd be able to play more than 20mpg. |

![]() How about Chandler and our rights to our 1st round pick this summer
for 14m Trade Exemption, Kostas Papanikolauo (Grunwald went to scout him this season), 3 our their 2nd round picks this year at picks about picks 39,40,45, and a future 2nd round pick or 2?)
Again, by going under the tax, we can participate in S&T's, 14m trade exemption to sign a FA, possibly gain the full 5m MLE vs 3m MLE, and even the 2m bi annual exemption to use I am not sure if we are allowed to cheat the system by using the 5m MLE first, and using the 2m bi annual exemption, then using the 14m trade exemption for a FA or trade AFTER which would put us over the tax bracket again IF so, that would give us legit shots at signing players that want more than the vet min, and do we have a shot at Cp3? |

![]() Last year in Istanbul, NBA executives were left in awe with his performances. Something that this year in London didn’t happen, but there was no need for something similar. Kostas Papanikolaou of Olympiacos, winner of this year’s “rising star award” as his team defended their title in London, has already proved that he is one of the best European players and this why many NBA teams are thinking of approaching Portland to acquire his rights. |

![]() RonRON...Dolan and these knicks are NOT going to trade Tyson Chandler
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Besides, there is a general rule of thumb that you don't trade big for small. They should amend it to include not trading (a talented, top 10 center) big for next to nothing in return. Portland would have to give up at least first rounders in a decent draft for me to consider that. |

I don't understand how or why people still go crazy over Europeans. The success he's having over there is almost all but guaranteed not to translate to the NBA. Hell, James White was tearing up those leagues and he can't even break into our rotation. I would not be giving up any serious value for a bet that is against the odds. |
