Amare only is useful as strictly a backup PF to Melo. Chandler and Martin must continue to split minutes at center (32 for Tyson, 16 for Martin unless foul trouble ) and amare backup Melo for 10-12 minutes per game. Can't move Melo to SF unless its just for a little bit. I just don't see Amare being a valuable asset for more then 10-15 mpg without disrupting this teams offensive and defensive flow. This team is built around guard play and spacing, what is working in the new nba era. Amare doesn't help us in any area related to spacing or ball movement.

The biggest help he could give us would be to start playing for Indiana

I'd love to have Amare on either Melo or Tyson! Tyson might get a dozen alley-oops per game and Melo wouldn't need two healthy shoulders to dominate!

You clown Amare's defense yet you can't wait to see Novak in there...

Hahaha so funny how people like to pile on Amare. Then he comes back, has a good game and its all peaches and cream.

Funny

Truth be told, Knicks need as many healthy bodies able to score as possible. With Melo hurting and J.R. in space, the Knicks have had to expand their offense, which is good but is riskier than usually spot-on Melo and J.R.

In this case, a steady dose of solid offense from Amare in the middle quarters before we go on full defensive mode is good to have.

In the same line, we need more Copeland!

I have been wanting Amare to come back for the last two years...My hope is all gone with the last surgery...I'm not sure he can do this anymore...The Knicks need to move forward if they can...We are too close to continue in the hope game...

@holfresh...i think amare is done being a star but he can still contribute. Id love to get rid of him but his contract makes him undesirable until hes an expiring contract after next yr
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

The trick with STAT is simply not to expect much from him. If he can come back and give us offense off the bench, awesome. But the main guys and our main strategy should remain.

Yeah but if he looks good like he did in january/feb can you resist playing him more like they did before.
Atleast amare doesn't hold the ball for 12 seconds before he makes his move..he gets opposing defenses in foul trouble and he finishes better then anyone on the roster.

I think amares role can be just like alonzo's role was during the heats first championship when it was all about wade and shaq..Zo came in for 20 mins supplied some defense, shot blocking, and post pts..

To be fair you watched hardly any games this year so none of your opinions are actually based on anything.

That's not being fair,

you don't really have to watch any games to know what's going on in the league,

this is 2013 we are living in now, the wonders of the information age,

plus do you see how astute of an observer I am? I'm painfully intelligent, so much so that my capacity is a liability in most environments.

Painful is the key word. How much does it really hurt when you think?
I'll one up you and say your capacity is probably a liability in all environments.

not all, not at all,

you know panos, you laugh at me, but it is not so easy always being the smartest guy in the room, find some compassion in your cold heart
