According to you we didn't have single PG on the floor. Felton is a SG (which is what you called him telling me to compare him to Harden) and Kidd and Prigs were on the bench. And Kidd causing TO's was what started the comeback so there goes your thread.

Melo brings the ball up so he can get the ball early, before the double team comes. I've been in Melo's position before as the go to guy finishing games. I would rather bring the ball up, than work extra hard fighting through double screens and holds. Especially if there's a Bradly type defensive player on the court, applying solid pressure on the passer.

Melo also has an injured shoulder, so he doesn't want somebody yanking on it again, trying to break free from all the holding players do on defense. When Melo is healthy, he knows how to protect the ball more. Thats why he wears thos elbow pads. Their like chicken wings for his offense and defensive swipes. But as you can see, he did not want to take that contact from Bradly with that injured left shoulder.

I've said this before, but it may have been over looked. You can't have too many iso type players on the floor at the same time. Melo's isoball freezes everybody else out. Add in JR, who is out there watching our leader do exactly what coach told JR not to do.....It's like telling an alcoholic to stop drinking, but surround him with other alcoholics.

This is why I don't like JR and Melo starting. I rather have more willing passers and shooters and defenders around Melo, with JR off the bench to keep that 1 iso player on the floor at all times for last second shot clock fadeaways. Otherwise, both iso players on the floor together is a double freeze on the other 3 players, and kills team chemistry when they are on or off.

This is also why Amari doesn't fit in.....When Amari is freezed out from Melo, he's either going to have turnovers or brick shots or try to forced some kind of iso play himself, just so he can get some shine. Add since his defense is non existent with his own man, similar to Chander's overrated defense, all Amari is his offense to show his wealth. Both guys are average help defenders and terrible man to man defenders, but thats for another topic. For example, do you think Kenyon Martin would allow little Bradly to get that shot off under the basket in crunch time?

Woody is the most important piece to us winning it all. This is why I like Phil Jackson type coach, because he has the nuts and respect to sit Melo and / or JR during those iso plays. Woodson stays with JR way too long during games. Same with Kidd. He sticks with his favorites, instead of using logic, like putting Shump and Pablo back in the game, since they helped give you that big lead....Remember, Shump went on a roll, with Melo on the bench. As soon as he put Melo back in the game, the lead was gone! Melo and JR killed the chemistry by taking too many jumpers, that wasn't falling, while freezing out the other players that were playing great!

What I noticed is when we get pressured, we stop running our plays and go iso ball. Or they easily give up on the set plays and just give Melo the ball. This cannot happen as we go deeper through the playoffs

I can't blame Woodson for going with Smith there, especially as Vinny Del Negro is about to get fired for not playing his reliable scorer and trying to mic up his lineups in a close-out game. JR and Melo are the most reliable creators on the team (although it was nice to get O from some of the other guys yesterday). If they struggle, the Knicks will lose. They still need to move the ball more as the poster a couple above me said.

Chandler's a much bigger asset against Indiana and Hibbert. When the other team has a Garnett or Bosh-type center that can hit J's, Chandler struggles.

I disagree. Woodson rolls with guys he trusts. The Knicks had the lead. Knicks needed smart plays. Felton, Smith, and Shumpert dont always make the smart play and get carried away.

Realistically, Knicks only semi-consistent scorers have been JR Smith and Melo. Shumpert and Felton have just recently come on strong. I don't expect Woodson to make radical changes when we were up 3-0 in a series.

Good post. Perfect explanation of why we cannot make blanket statements like Melo should never bring the ball up the court.

Actually that was a great post BLK You presented your argument and reasoning without making generalizations about other fans. Good stuff thats what a discussion forum is all about whether you disagree about the reasons why melo brings the ball up or not

Why didn't he trust Pablo to run the team then ?

Prigioni finished with 14 points 5-9 fg, five rebounds and three assists over just 23 minutes.

I'm not buying it !

Celtics came back because the Knicks got complacent and thought it was blow out time. Knicks got blown out because Jason Kidd is too slow for Avery Bradley. Your thread is on crack and you don't remember how it went down. You take one possession and think that's how the whole game went.

I agree with you. My only problem was that Woodson just laid back and gambled on JR and Melo would pull us out. When we were up by 26 points I would have left the same guy in until almost the end of the game I would have let Melo sit. Hey Boston had it out for him and I agree felton and Kid played a big part in Boston's come back.

Correction, he shouldn't HAVE to bring the ball up when we have 3 pgs. But, as last night showed and what's been shown throughout the season is we can't really rely on them to take care of the ball and in many cases we're better off with the ball in Melo's hands.

Maybe that is the reason why Melo and JR bring the ball up although I have doubts. Why would you ever have the ball in jrs hands to make decisions but what is the reason we suddenly go into iso mode when the pressure is on? With both melo and jr

So you rather Melo bring up the ball with the speedy avery bradley guarding him? Dont know if I agree with that strategy

You are talking about Phill Jackson ?? He is over rated Jackson had the greatest Player of all time and his side kick Scottie Pippen and a great cast. Jackson never went to a place without a championship team already assembled. Phil Jackson ain't stupid he ain't going to Detroit to coach or even Philly. Now he will go to Miami if Miami loose. He will go to Cleveland if Lebron goes back to Cleveland. Let's see what Jackson can really do with a team that dosen't have the worlds greatest player. He left LA because he new he couldn't win there anymore.
