Depends on how you see it. In one hand, he can only blame himself for not being there, so he remains a risk for any team. On the other hand, yes we missed him, but we stilltied the game and went to overtime.

JR is worth more today than yesterday. Think about it. Take him away from the team for a few games.

We should have won without him. Think of it this way we played without him and melo had probably his worst shooting night and still almost won. If Melo hits 1 damn FT we sweep today

JR Smith has ALWAYS had talent that is why he was drafted out of Highschool. His issues have always been in regards to his behavior.

People forget he was traded from New Orleans to Chicago to Denver. Denver didnt even want to resign him. He also didnt get any offers last summer. His father can say whatever he likes. If he signed with the Lakers he'd be playing behind Kobe and he'd be on a short leash.

With the new CBA. Teams arent just throwing away cash on suspect personalities. Nick Young didnt get paid. OJ Mayo didnt get paid.

I think it's crazy that this guy got suspended in the playoffs,

he lost his cool in the Second Season, what if he loses his cool in the Finals?

name the last 10 players that were suspended in a playoffs game, this is the challenge for you

Hopefully this suspension during playoffs puts a "Buyer's Beware" label on his price tag this summer and teams stay away.

I honestly think New York is the only place he can "thrive" and be under a coach that can reel him in in Woody.

Costing a team with his actions in a crucial game in the playoffs will not fly with many teams.

IF JR Smith was willing to wait a year to get paid I assume the Knicks would do a 4-5 year deal worth 40-50 million. IF that happened then I say the Knicks would need to rebuild around Melo and Smith.

Can you offer the 4-5 year deal, but give him the right to opt out after the 1st year? That way he has the guaranteed long term security, but can still opt out and sign a higher deal with us after the first year. Or can you only offer an opt out for the final year?

No, if he resigns with us this offseason he needs to sign for a minimum of 2 years with no opt out. If he were to sign for more than 2 years he could have options every year after the first two.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up!

The talk of JR and a flagrant and now Nate makes me think of '06 and the brawl that started with Mardy, JR and Nate...

Funny how life goes, huh? I don't think if you told me back then we'd be here today I'd believe you.

That picture reminds me- The Legendary Jared Jeffries got cut by the Blazers, I think- would you welcome him back as a Knick for the third time this offseason?

ironically I think yesterdays loss, which was caused by JRs stupid move, proved how valuable JR is
Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

The only thing we truly need to fear is Woody giving a "guarantee" that JR Smith will be a Knick. Don't want to live through that again.

Hopefully, JR doesn't overdo Game 5 trying to prove his value. Take it to hole, make your FT's. Put the C's away early, shut them down in the second half like games 1-3.

Sure he is valuable but is he dependable? Has he been consistant on and off the court? Is he a distration? Does he have maturity on and off the court?

No.

Is he getting better? Yeah. Is it contract motivated? Maybe.

Does his inconsistancy give him leverage in negotiation? No.

Its one thing if he sprains his ankle. Its another if you try to elbow some one in the head.

Im going to speculate the league warned him after he nearly took Sephaloshia's head off weeks ago. Thats why the suspension.

Im not into anti knick discrimination. Basically I think kNicks in playoffs and going deep is great for the league. Why sabotage it?

Now with JR Smith being suspended for one game will things like this have a affect on a big payday for him??
