To anyone saying that was a flop go to the 40s mark of the video, JR nailed him. If Terry were flopping why would he be jumping up and trying to fight? And this is not 90's NY Knick basketball unless you're referring to Starks stupidly headbutting Reggie Miller after which Ewing and Oakley went off on him for acting so stupid.

I think it's clearly a flop- once he gets hit he starts falling (not denying he made contact), then mid fall he suddenly changes his tragectory as though he's just been shot by a sniper (around the 36second mark). He clearly exaggerates the contact, then garnishes the performance be getting up and pretending to go after JR. looks like the way he hit JR on the stomach is what triggered JRs elbow, though to be fair JR seem in a sullen mood all game.

Genuine question- did KG get suspended for these elbows to the face:

Elbows Mario Chalmers in the face

Elbows Bogut in the face

Elbows Kardashian in the face:

Elbows Q-Rich in the face:

Think he did for the last one, but it was an off the court altercation, so I don't know if that made it more severe.

I don't know if KG was suspended but those aren't comparable situations. In the 1st video it's in the context of fighting for a rebound which is a pretty time-honored tradition in basketball. The 2nd and 3rd videos are not anywhere nearly as violent as JR's. I think you're right about the 4th one and him getting suspended and that might have had more to do with them spilling into the crowd; the NBA has been completely paranoid about that stuff ever since the Artest melee.

Yeah, I had a bad feeling about that play as soon as it went down. I think the league will look to suspend him. (I think it would be an overreaction by the NBA, but I'm a 90s baby. This would have been a technical back in the day IMO. Totally different league now.)

The reaction of Doc Rivers is priceless: absolutely mute on the obvious Terry foul and explodes on the J.R. swing. And watching the other KG elbow attacks and Rivers' reaction, these guys are simply a-hole clowns.

The game was well in hand , J Terry just got dissed again on National TV. Didn't know he was suspended ?

The league might give us a gift but why give them the opportunity to suspend you?

Human emotions- nothing to do with intelligence. Obviously I wish it didn't happen, but in competitive sports it's pretty common for someone to lose their cool. I wouldn't be surprised if he got suspended, but he really shouldn't be- Terry definitely flopped to make it look worse. During the game there were at least two times where KG went flying into Shump with his elbow flying. Oh, but that was part of his trademark illegal picks so that's okay...

I agree. It's understandable. I just wouldn't try to spin it as a good thing.

Sending a message?

Knicks been working on not whining and responding with emotion.

Sending a message?

"We will react to your foolishness!"

No messages but the final score of the game. Thats the only message.

We can only succeed by being mentally tougher than our opponent.

Celtics are getting creamed and teams will resort to low tactics to try to turn the tide.
YOu know it would happen at some point.

Knicks donn't need to take the bait.

JR's tats did not elbow JT, His inflated pride did.

Just win baby!

Not to make this like the second gunman on the grassy knoll, but to me it looks like the hard swipe from Terry accidentally may have caught somewhere near the nuts/groin area, possibly lower abdomen. Looks to me like Terry got caught solid in the chest, not the saw and suddenly developed a case of spontaneous whiplash after he leaned back and well after the ball was above JR's head and there was about a foot or two worth of space between his face and Smith's elbow.

It was a solid, on purpose elbow though. A fine should be the extent.

I've seen guys rebound the ball, stick out them elbows, and turn side to side like a freaking dog drying off and those have been much more dangerous and violent and would do a lot more damage if they connected.

Check 40 seconds in, Terry clearly got nailed in the face/chin.

First - JR's foul does not warrant a suspension. An ejection and fine is plenty. Terry gets hit but not that hard and then flops.
Second, Terry whacks JR across the arm and/or stomach and no foul is called. Refs, where were you? You could have stopped this before it started.

Third, the Celtics have been hitting JR hard also. KG gives JR a face washing when JR has a clear path to the basket. It was called a foul but could have been called a flagrant 1, except that Garnett is too tricky. So I can understand why JR might have been pissed.

Terry got hit , but he flopped too. He only came back at J.R because he got dissed on National TV again. He got embarrassed , that's why he jumped up.

What clip are you watching ?

If you notice after he's hit, he takes two steps back(he has his balance) and then he drops like a fat women sat on his chest. In other words he made it look worst than what it was, because if J.R would have connected cleanly, Terry wouldn't have got up so fast.

LIKE THIS !

I watched it. His chest gets a brunt of the hit and it looks like a glancing blow to his chin. His head never snaps back until the ball his above JR's head.

I agree that it does not warrant a suspension but that doesn't mean the league won't suspend him. If you catch my drift. Guess we'll see what happens.

Last I read J.R. was preparing like he was playing.

It was clearly not a big deal. And if it's taking them this long to decide, I'm hoping that means they have come to the same conclusion.

Fine Terry for flopping and call it a day.

I wonder if the league, privately, doesn't want the Knicks to sweep. The TV viewership is high and also more attendance at the arenas. The distribution of foul shots 18 for the Celtics; only 8 foul shots for the Knicks, is way too lopsided.

And THAT is what I think is taking them so long to decide. They know this doesn't really warrant a suspension, but they want to extend the series and up the revenue from it. So they're wondering if they can "get away with" suspending the 6th Man of the Year w/o an uproar occurring.
