Really?! I didn't see the play....

The video of the play is here. http://www.thebiglead.com/index.php/2013/04/26/russell-westbrook-surgery-for-meniscus-tear-in-knee-no-timetable-for-return/

Wow...I cant call it a dirty play because I dont think Beverly tried to injure him, but is was an unnecessary play. No reason for Beverly to do what he did on that play when clearly, OKC was calling for time as all teams do when they dribble towards their coach. When Beverly knocked the ball away, it went out of bounds so what was the point of that play? Totally uncalled for.....

definitely uncalled for but certainly not dirty, just like you suggested. Man, just unfortunate?

Lots of players do this though, right? Wouldn't be surprised if Westbrook himself hasn't done it.

True, lots of players do this but the risk is higher than the reward especially if it results in an injured player. Its moreso done to be annoying than it is to get the steal which almost never happens. As you said, I'm pretty sure Westbrook has done this before too, but like I said, its unnecessary...

Houston coaching staff preaches this move. Lin and TD before he was traded has tried to steal from PGs about to call a timeout. They have been successful with this play. Going by memory, Lin has actually stole some of this for layups the other way. Same with TD. And for some reason, they never get called for fouls.

Damn...I just read something today about how OKC was the team that faced the least injuries this season ... are jinxes real?
Wish him a speedy recovery...sad news indeed.

I said it after David Lee went down: the season is way too long with the size, strength, and speed these guys play at today

Was very similar the year after the 99lockout. Both the lockout season and the one that followed saw a rash of injuries.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I don't care about other teams injuries, so what...It's funny how boston beat us 2 years ago in the 1st rnd, the next yr miami beats us in the 1st rnd, and all thats ever said is "THE KNICKS CAN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE 1ST ROUND SINCE MELO HAS BEEN HERE" you hardly ever here, the knicks were ravage with injuries going into the playoffs the last 2 seaosns and that cause them to have quick exits..

But I promise you OKC will have the excuse of westbrooks injury all next season if the have an early exit.

But NYK losing Billups and amare one yr, then Lin, Shumpert Amare and baron the next, well that gets swept under the rug like those weren't key players, like they were just some role players that wouldn't have made a difference..

Lets see how DEEP and Good OKC is now..

Season isnt too long. This was a freak injury.

David Lee was playing hurt which made his issue worse.

Wow. Definitely agree it wasn't intentional, but if I'm a role player on OKC I'm taking a flagrant 1 on Beverly as soon as he enters the lane. Some may not like it, but this just cost OKC a chip as far as I'm concerned.

Well unreal timing. You know-guys like MJ Malone Stockton et al used to play every single game every single night 82 games + playoffs. It seems to me that the NBA is not as tough as back than physically--yet there are more injuries now? I wonder if it has to do with guys using more athleticism versus skill or what have you. Still this is unreal to the Thunder who put so much reliance on Westbrook. They did start playing Reggie jackson and he played well later in the year--I would wonder if they moved Jackson to one and play either Lamb or Jones in the 2nd unit.

believe it or not, I went to a health conference the other day and found out that Gatorade is one of the worst products on the market..athletes lose so many vitamins when the sweat and there giving gatorade to try and replenish them, and that sht is crap..there's no calcium in gatorade, it's water and sugar (something they use to disguise the sugar) "YOUNGJEVITY" HAS A PRODUCT called "REBOUND" that a hand full of athletes are using (LBJ being one of them) and man o man..it has a sht load of vitamins, it's all natural, and you won't need Knee replacement when you retire..

The NBA is seeing it's stars go down and there not doing anything about it..It's up to the players

It's like the Dodge Caravan. It was first in the scene and people associate it as "The Minivan". Toyota and Honda are now in contention but it took awhile for people to figure out that the Caravan was a crap minivan.

Really sorry to see DLee go down and now Westbrook...WoW, huge playoffs implications..I thought Gallo going down was just horrible for the guy more so than the team...I thought Denver was deep at the time but they miss him...Im an Knick fan and want my team to win every game and our players to outclass all others..You never want to see guys go down like this in their primes...Speedy recovery to all...

terrible timing but the play was not dirty.

OKC should be able to soldier on pretty well without westbrook-- it is going to force durant into the same role that pierce has with rondo out. i think durant will rise to the occasion and we are going to see his best basketball going forward. if i recall durant has said he wanted to model his game after larry bird... now he gets his chance.

westbrook is just a bit overrated as it is.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

I completely forgot about that but you're right

Selfishly speaking, I'd love to see a shorter season and esentially the removal of 'let down games'... you know the type fo games where guys just go through the motions because the game matters very little in mid December and they'd rather go out and party than prepare for the game. I'm guessing I'm in the minority on that one though. Hopefully big names stop dropping like flies in when the postseason hits next year

I hear youngevity is infused with Deer Anter spray

Man I never bought into the gatorade/vitamin sugar water. Milk and oj does the body good. Mix in some cran juice and you are good to go.

Hell get a little adventurous and mix in a little vodka!

I don't disagree with you at all. It has it's purpose. I'm sure there are better products on the market right now though because Gatorade was the first to market. Newer generations should be better. I do know that a decade or so ago they used to drink Gatorade on the NY Rangers but they would add an equal part of water because how it is mass produced isn't optimal for athletes

Coconut water is much much healthier and it also has the electrolytes and natural sugars that your body needs. Gatorade is useless.
