That may have been nostalgia on my part but seeing Melo, JR and K-Mart on the same team again just puts a smile on my face.

it utterly baffles me why ANY team didn't sign this guy.

I thought he held out for more money. Rumored to be going to miami for a while.

Boston was rumored to have been suitors too, but Ainge and Doc said no somehow. Imagine things would be greatly different if Boston's front office didn't bumble it:

K-Mart:

“It’s their fault,” he said following the Knicks 100-85 win. “They lost. There was talks, there was negotiations, they chose not to do it. It was out of my control. I’m a Knick now, so they lost.”

Doc:

“I don’t know,” Rivers said when asked why Martin didn’t wind up with the Celtics. “We looked at all the guys, we were still looking at guards at the time. So we were in no hurry at the time for a big. We were looking for more a big of size, if you know what I mean. And by the time we got around to it, he was gone.”

That said they were very lucky to pick up Martin- but that's not a ton of luck. Martin is a known quantity in the league and people chose not to sign the guy, so it is what it is. They were more fortunate to strike gold with a guy like Copeland Or PRigioni.

It's really just Amare who's out and the team seems to be much better without him.

Sheed, Camby. If those 2 guys are healthy the Knicks are a much more complete team. Kmart as picked up the slack for those 2.

They're vet min players. They could help but I was just referring to main pieces.
It's different if you have both you're starting forwards out or you're franchise player (Denver and Chicago).

Why is it "Good Luck" whenever the Knicks find someone & a savvy move by experienced Basketball minds when someone else does it???

Luck: When opportunity and preperation collide.

Its not like Grunwald just looked down and found a $100 bill on the sidewalk. Thats good luck. If he found it in the street and got hit by a bus, thats bad luck.

Really splitting hairs on this one ActionJax?

Grunwald as GM is like a frickin renaissance compared to layden and isiah. 90% of his moves are good ones. Doesnt even feel like this is the knicks. Believe it or not i am starting to miss the dysfunction!!!

just wondering why any & everything the team does well is spun as lucky or fortuitous instead of being the result of hard work & preparation. Sort of like the national sports media focusing on the offensive maladies of the Celtics w/o Rondo instead of the Knicks playing shut down D. it's just a perception thing i guess

its interesting that you mention that. I read something recently about that very phenomenon. It said that Knicks fans are so accustomed to the past dysfunction that they don't know how to deal with positivity. They said that if you eat crap long enough, you develop a taste for it and that many fans will find it difficult to be happy WITHOUT the drama.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Boston went on a tear after Rondo which is how they got to the playoffs.

A 2 seed winning two at home against a 7 seed is really not a big deal. Lets be honest, knicks are not exactly known for its defense so lets not get too sensitive.

Its really combo of both. Who cares what the media thinks anyway is a cry we hear often.

Proof is on the court.

Lets get our split in Boston and finish this in 5!

1st round is really dragging on the calander!

You think someone on the Knicks could deploy this on the Boston parquet floor?

Luck, good: Linsanity, Stat2010, StreakyNovak
Luck, bad: Stat thereafter, IamCambyDammit, PlayoffNovak, JeremyDoesHouston

Opportunity, preparation, savvy good GM skills: Sheed at the start, Priggy Smalls, JKidd, KMart, Shump is still here at the end

Felton came with a chip on his shoulder, not luck.
JR Smith has a coach he apparently will buy into. Nice trophy. Who knew?
Copeland is a relatively old project, more to come, watch the games.

Somewhere, Grunny is smiling, despite the whole "hiding in a hotel closet Houston style" episode.
