Where do we want Chicago to finish? The Knicks can help determine the fate of this based on what lineup we throw against Atlanta on Wednesday.

An Atlanta win or Chicago loss results in Atlanta winning 5th place, for a first round match up vs Miami.

Chicago (no Rose, but everyone else playing) is still a hugely tough match up for any team. Boozer/Noah make a tough tandem; Deng is a quality 3. RIP is a quality veteran and Nate can erupt against just about anyone.

Two ways to look at this - assuming they're playing the rest & recovery game right now:
1. They can take down the Nets in the 1st round and their defensive coaching can make things extremely difficult against Miami. They're beefy where Miami isn't.

2. They can be a tougher 1st round match up than the Hawks against the Pacers. I think the Knicks can win against the Pacers, but the Bulls have owned our number this season. An upset here means the Knicks face the Bulls in the 2nd round. Rose's status is still unknown, but presumably he'll keep working hard. Another 3 weeks, and who knows.

5th seed. They take down the Nets, the beat up on Miami in the 2nd round.
6th seed. They beat up on the Pacers (and possibly beat them) then we face 'em in the 2nd round.
Doesn't matter.

At least hoping we win the first round, I don't see why anyone would want to face the Bulls in the second. They are a tough as hell team. At least let them and Miami beat the living crap out of each other for 7 games in round two and maybe we can get a worn out one of those 2 teams. Obviously that would most likely be Miami but never said never.

Need to beat Atlanta on Wed, and ensure Chicago get the 5th seed. Leave them and Miami to duke it out in the second round.

Not that the Pacers are a bunch of slouches. They are tough as hell too.

I'd fancy us against the Pacers the way both teams are playing lately (earlier in the season, not so much). But I can't see us taking Chicago in a 7 game series.

honestly the Bulls are THE team I'd like to avoid so obviously I'd rather have that at the #5 seed.
them possibly facing Miami and wearing them out is a bonus, my main concern is avoiding them really.

I believe we can beat the Heat, I believe we can beat the Pacers, I believe we can beat OKC, I believe we can beat Spurs and I believe we can beat Denver/Clippers/Memphis.
I don't however see us winning against the Bulls.

bulls/pacers would make a better series so intellectually i want the bulls as the 6th seed.

but if we can avoid facing the bulls in the second round that would be ideal so my heart says 5th seed.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%
