Everyone form Bills Simmons to Spike Lee thinks this. I was in the Dirty Jerz last weekend and the dude on Hot 97 was praising the Knicks, then said he'd stop talking about the Knicks, because he didn't want to hear the hate from callers.

This is the best team the Knicks have had since 1993-94. Carmelo Anthony is the best Knick we've had since Patrick Ewing. JR Smith is the best sixth man we've had since John Starks or Latrell Spreewell (if youw ant to count his brief stint there). Tyson Chandler, at his best anyway, is the best defender we've had since Ewing and maybe possibly Clyde because Chandler can guard multiple positions including PG. Our coach is the best coach we've had since JVG.

So on top of all this ****, I have to listen to things that don't even make sense here - like Melo wasn't worth Felton, Gallo, The Mayor, and Timofey Mozgov when we got Felton, Novak, Shumpert, and Chris Copeland to replace them. It's insane that guys won't even give the Knicks, Mike Woodson, or Melo props even on the 'Ultimate' Knicks messageboard on the internet

Actually this kind of response is what fuels debate. There are so few "haters" but they are a vocal group. I have been constant since day one that:

"Its about the play on the court and the knicks need just take care of its own business"

Take what you want from the games.

Regarding Melo, lets examine Lebrone for a second and his image. He needed to tranform from the easy going guy having fun but coming up short to a focused killer who got the job done. Despite being the best player on the planet for the better part of 5 years, he had to exceed his previous image. Kobe gets all kinds of passes becuase he has MVP's and rings.

Melo is in the Barkley-ewing-Stockton-Malone kind of image and while a mulitple allstar and trajectory to be in the HOF based on his statistics, the cred as a "winner" has to be earned in excess of his participation of "one and dones" and the a trip to the ECF!

Knicks have to make ECF's and give Miami a good run for Melo to ELEVATE his image. His legacy in Denver is what it is and its pretty justified: Great player who was selfish at times and gave his coach fits. Denver's success without him does not help and I understand why "homers" don't like that.

King's career was really not that accomplished. HE was a prolific scorer who played on a lot of bad teams and in ny had two massive seasons. Im not speaking ill of Bernard, just looking at the career. If he played in this era after a big coming out party in Syracuse and had the good fortune to have the endorsement deals melo has I would imagine the expectations would have been higher. King had some legal problems and was a polarizing ******* with some substance issues before he put it together in NY. It was a great story. His comeback with the Wizards is what sealed his HOF cred.

Just win and the further the knicks can go the better Melo will be viewed.

I think Supreme's talking about within our fan base. Heat fans didnt hate Lebron when damn near every other fan base did. Even one when he completely disappeared in the finals against Dallas, they still supported him.

Precisely and the Heat example is spot on

Spot on? Horrible. Lebron let Heat to finals and got support. He's got a history of leading garbage teams on long playoff runs. Melo has 9 years in the playoffs, is a career 41% shooter in the playoffs and has advanced once, but yea... he should get the same "support"

Whats lost on the Melo do nothing wrong lovers is they dont get this. They will grudgingly admit Melo is a step below Lebron or Durant or got fobid CP3 but then trash anyone who questions their total and utter embrace of his greatness.

As KNICK fan whos watched piece after piece of sh!t flung at the wall to see what sticks for the last ten years I think its fair to take a wait and see approach. Melo is certainly a talented player but good enough to build a contender around? Yet to be seen. But as you can see from this thread it cant be discussed here. Easily the reason Ive stopped posting here. I find the games more enjoyable without checking into UK to read about how every win is because of Melo and every loss is as well.

Melo is the best playing since Ewing. I guess he knocks Marbury off that coveted pedastal. Ewing, a guy who led a cast of role players past the first round for 10 straight years. Yea.. Melo is just like Ewing.

I hope you guys are right and this guy is the chosen one starmooby you all see him as. It would be nice to see the Knicks compete for a title.

I said 'best since Ewing'. How does that imply Melo was better than Ewing? All it means is Melo is the best player since Ewing. It wasn't a comparison medium. Geez. usually we see eye to eye on Knicks - with this noticeable exception. And then you flip out like Brewer in Half Baked

And the LeBron example is spot on. The Heat fanbase rallied around LeBron when everywhere else hated on LeBron saying he wouldn't do this or couldn't that.

other than that, +1

Dolan is the chemist for this toxic tonic.

Amen - he's great witht eh Rangers because he's completely hands off. he, like the public at large, could care less about hockey

I don't see why you're allowed to post how awful Woodson, Chandler, Melo, etc. are - yet - I am not allowed to post that I think the content you put up for public consumption is just atrocious, and have been wrong on every stand you make. You could have been a Union general at the start of the Civil War. I think you are jinxed. In fact, I think Amar'e would still be healthy if you hadn't started screaming about him needing to play starters minut. We tried to warn you about his medical history and he was probably playing too much even then. Let me know the next time you go to Atlantic City. I am taking the other side of every bet you make because I know I am gonna make an absolute fortune

Ok so I was wrong and you were right? Does it matter? Do you want a medal. Is it in anyway going to help the knicks? Me being wrong is the reason they won 13 straight? If it is then I want to be wrong all the time. Can I enjoy this team and this forum or am I nit allowed? Oh wait you already layed the rules the other day. I am nit allowed to enjoy the sucess because I wanted Amare to start.

And Fyi again I like Melo. I only suggested we blow it up cos he actually has value unlike Amare who is untradeable
