I've always had faith in this team despite their flaws. Honestly, it's much more fun to just enjoy the ride.

Enjoying the ride as well. I knew what the team's ceiling was at the start of the season but wasn't sure if all the bad luck was going to overwhelm them. This season, even with all the ups and downs, is still the most fun I've had watching the Knicks in many years.

Wow....Am I the only one that believed in this team? This was before we even played 1 game. Just based on the additions and age of the vets. I'm just kicking myself for not betting on them before the season started. Even if you bet a few bucks, you would come up big because vegas odds gave a slim to no chance of winning.

I still hate this lineup....I still think our small ball lineup will come back to bite us. The only thing I like about our lineup is Melo's advantage against bigger guys on offense. Everything else is a disadvantage.

Lack Defensive Rebounds
Increased Fatigue and tired legs
Increased Foul Trouble
More Defensive mismatches (Pablo)
Nobody to protect the paint (Due to Chandler's consistent switching on PG's)

Lets hope Woody can prove me wrong. I just hope he's not afraid to change it up against bigger teams.

WHY should we fear bigger teams? OKC is bigger. Memphis is bigger. Indiana is bigger. Yet we beat those teams. Our smaller lineup has been VERY effective against a lot of bigger teams. All we need is to get a bit healthier by the playoffs and we'll have enough size to deal with anything anyone can throw at us in the NBA. The Bulls are the only team in the league we never really solved. That's hardly a major indictment of this teams chances. Every year there's some team that has another team's number in the regular season.

IMO the Knicks mainly just need to worry about how they play and not so much who the competition is. It seems we cause as many problems for teams as they're likely to cause us, it not more. As long as we stick to the game plan. Ball and Player movement. Tough team defense.

We can win it all, but we need the following:

Melo to just keep on going, that is a given.
JR MUST keep (or rather start again) taking it to the hole. This transforms the team. This really is a key.
We need Martin and Camby back, to back up Chandler (in the event of foul trouble also). One of the two would suffice, preferably Martin.
We need better defense from Felton, or perhaps have Shump defend the PG.

Those things at least stand out to me...

You weren't the only one. Go back to the 10,11,12 pages on this board and you can see what a mess things were. I was creating State of the Board threads because everyone was trying to trade Melo and Chandler for peanuts. It was bad but I'm glad a nice little win streak has changed the perspective of this place. Like I said then, only one month ago this place was the most negative it had every been, it was amazing.

Agreed. The west and their style of play dont scare me. Except for the Spurs and Clips who present matchup nightmare for our awesomely defensive backcourt of felton and prigs

I think we get the winner of the 4/5 matchup in the 2nd round which right now would be bulls or nyets. Or is it the winner of the 3/6 which would be indy. Actually I think you are right. Looks like Boston Indy Miami road to the finals! Having homecourt in the first two rounds is awesome. Never thought id see an elite knicks team again in my lifetime

NO the Knicks would get the winner of the 3/6 match up. The higher seed always get the easier path. The 6th and 8th spot is still up for grabs. ATL is only 1 game ahead of Boston in the loss column. Boston really let one slip away Friday but now Garnett and Pierce are back.

Boston big games left are the Nets, Heat, and Pacers(2nd to last game).

MIL: Miami, AtL, Denver, and OKC(last game)

ATL: Mil, NY(last game) but they have not played Philly well.

CHI: NY, Miami

Worry about any team we play in the first round

Especially Boston, which has history and ghosts on its side

We are doomed

Nobody sweeps the Celtics. Not the 69 or 73 Knicks. Those old men pushed the Heat to the limit last year. Or did you forget?

Nobody

Our Coach is Mentally Incompetent

gunsnewing - We will never win a ring with Woodson's low IQ offensive strategies(low IQ like his fav player JR). If you can call it strategy

don't worry, if/when the Knicks fall apart, gunsnewing will stop posting here until the second coming of Jeremy Lin returns. So even if the Knicks lose, members of this messageboard win

Unlike you I am here through the good and bad stretches. A lot of people on both sides go into hiding when things adent going their way. A realist sees things for what they are. Having faith in the team does not impact the game. The players and coaches do. I judge the team based on what I see on the court over a substantial sample size without getting all religious

Not only is the gunsnewing quote false, it is highly insulting. The historic knock on players like JRSmith and coaches like Mike Woodson regarding their lack of ability to think smacks of a bias for coaches and players who appear "smarter."

Earl Smith, drafted out of high school, has a coach for the first time in his pro career. It's more than strategies and diagrams. A true "coach" knows how to squeeze the most out of his employees as a unit.

Thanks to Woodson, our "whole" (despite a Soul Train line of injuries) is greater than the sum of our remaining healthy parts

Substantial sample size my ass

If that were the case, a dip to .500 basketball (after an outstanding start) for a few weeks would not be a cause for alarm

Fire Mike Woodson. Yeah right

Dude, over the past 13 seasons .500 basketball was cause for happy face time in Knicksland

Who moved the freakin goalpost?

We just won 50 games in less than a "substantial sample size" of a full season.
Can you dig it?

You are making it sound like you are the only one enjoying this great run. Why do you disappear when the going gets tough? Hopefully busy praying for a turn around. Your faith seems to have paid off and I commend you
