Then why is he even playing sporadically? Doesnt it make more sense to let him fully heal and bring him back a week before the playoffs start?

Plantar makes no sense. One day it feels like a nail being driven in your heel, the next day it feels like you can run a marathon. It can suddenly flare up or disappear. Its strange like that.

Having played a season of tennis around it, the frustration of feeling no pain and sitting out was unbearable. Camby wants to play. Woodson could be allowing Marcus to test it under game conditions, slowly, so he has some game conditioning in April. Who knows?

Camby, as we all are, is indeed day to day.

Thank you Kurt Thomas, for sacrificing your body to set an example for the other players to follow.

You just may have changed things a bit.

I think this is worthy of its own thread. Kurt knew he was hurt and knew how badly the team needed that win. I think it could really serve as a monumental point in this season.

a week ago some were calling for his head, questioning his decisions, point to stubbornness, and the end of the world.

now we we got Bill Russell and the celtics in a discussion about sustained excellence?

Reasons to be cheerful are the games and the results. Reasons to cloud it are the pathetic state of the conference which is the backbone of the Heats streak. The auto logic is then if we are second seed we should make it to the ECF and that by itself would be grand!

It would. The games are what tells the story. Its a nice improbable w-l record considering the roster and how that translates to the future is anyone's guess. I like winning. Thats enough for me.

A lot of people that were posting here a week ago seem to be taking a break. Maybe its the tournament but there does seem to be a bit of a trend with when and how often some post here.

I was one of those people (except for calling for his head. I dont think he should be fired) and I still question a lot of what he does. I just dont think that constantly complaining about it is gonna get me anywhere except on people's nerves. I just point out the things he does that im skeptical of when it happens.
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Zero pulse of his entire team.

I cant see the stubborn dumb Woodson doing any of such to properly as_sses what needs he'd like NY org to seek.

Let the word dumb sink in a moment.

Bootleg Alert

OGkush121 - correct me if I'm mistaken but I think the Knicks are going to win 50+ this season.
and given all of the injuries piling up throughout the season I think that's a pretty notable achievement.

True

We're playing for something," coach Mike Woodson said. "We're trying to stay at the top of our division. Guys are committed. They've been committed all year. I don't see it going any other way."

Woodson's faith in the unpredictably combustible JR Smith is paying crazy dividends.

Holding a team together through the amount of roster turnover is a notable achievement.

Finish strong.

Woody like many other coaches played the game before, but the difference with him is he understands the today's player in the NBA. see J.R Smith
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Good Times

(30 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.)

"It’s crazy. Off the court it’s like father-son. On the court we bump heads sometimes. He cusses me out, I cuss him out and we just go from there," Smith said. "It’s fun. I love playing for him."

JR Smith is leading and attacking.

That is insane.

Excellence? Now we are comparing to Russle's Celtics and Magic's Lakers? Exactly what have the Knicks done? Second in the East? Big Whooopdedo.
First prove you have even the faintest claim to excellence THEN talk about sustaining it.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

loweyecue: the comparison was only used to certify 50 wins as a standard of excellence. Mike Woodson needs 6 more wins to get us there for the first time in a dozen years. Before 2000, our beloved Knicks have not had consecutive 50 win seasons since 1991-1994.

Nowhere were the 2013 Knicks put on the same pedestal with those Celtics or Lakers teams. Rather than rushing to judge, you may want to slow down as you read and allow your comprehension skills to breathe.

Can Mike Woodson get 50 wins and replicate that standard for three more years?

*Bill Russell’s Celtics won at least 50 games for 10 straight seasons, spanning from 1958-59 to 1967-68. Boston won nine championships during that decade-long run, plus another after going 48-34 in the 1968-69 season.

*Magic Johnson’s Lakers won at least 50 games in 12 straight seasons, starting with his rookie campaign in 1979-80. The Lakers held five championship parades in downtown Los Angeles during that era.

*Tim Duncan’s Spurs recently extended their 50-win run to a 14 straight seasons. They’ve won three titles during that run, plus one more in the lockout-shortened season right before the streak started.

The playoffs have been noted as the "wait and see" moment for several commenters. However, the path to sustainable excellence starts during the regular season. Based on where this franchise was last November, Mike Woodson has led this band of brothers through a season of change, and health challenges.

No matter how it is dissected, 50 wins is a watermark of excellence.

Or is Mike Woodson just another caretaker for yet another regime change?

3G4G - never dug watered down, syndicated radio dj's like Kasem who only regurgitate pop music trends long after they have been out.
