and if he goes into cardiac arrest while in the box, then just bury it!

He could take meds but that would mess him up.

Why cardiac arrest, where does this come from?

If you need to, ship him with the whole kitten and kaboodle, doctor, the medical gadgets, it's chump change for an NBA franchise,

You can't put him under 80-100 times in 8 months! Just can't do that and think he'll be fit to play in a few hours let alone remember where he parked his car, where he lives, or his name!

Whats next for him? Join the Air Force and claim they are being "insensitive"?

After maybe the 10th or 15th time of being put under, he might realize that just growing a pair and walking on a plane is a better alternative,

the whole thing is ridiculous, cases like this need tough love, not pampering,

what Houston needs is a leader in the locker room that will beat some sense into him

I've been following this too. Initially, I agree, I had some sympathy. At this point, I think the guy is a scam artist. I think he's trying to find a way to get out of his contract while still getting paid. He has no interest in playing NBA basketball.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think he's stuck between wanting to make a stand and at the same time wanting the money too- always a tricky dilema!

I feel bad for White and at the same time he's picked a profession that requires frequent travel. Trying too hard to play the victim, we aren't talking about putting in a wheelchair ramp here.

He should think about playing in Europe, the distances might be easier for him to cover by bus or car, for the most part. If Royce is that good he could make a nice living there. Maybe some doctors over there might have better luck with his condition.

He should play in Serbia and see how the Partizan fans will tolerate this

Royce knew flying was part of the MBA when he signed the contract. It's pretty simple. He should work out a system where he hires a 24 driver. And at least make 90%of games. He's whined since day. 1. He needs 2 help create a solution or accept this is not for him

I'm not even sympathetic to this guy, If you can't or wont fly, get then Sit down with the team and come to some conclusion, if Houston knew about this before they drafted him, then they derserve to let him have his $ and go there seperate ways..You $ for your mistakes..

Dumb question: Are there no leagues where a pretty good player can make a living and not fly? Some small island country with buses and rail? I'm sure he'd have to take a pay cut but he could play and work on his treatment. Putting the rights and wrongs of Houston/D League/White/doctors aside, what are his options assuming the NBA just doesn't like him enough.

Yeah, but imagine if you told them before hand that you couldn't carry a gun or learn hand to hand combat, and they still decided to employ you for millions of dollars to be an fbi agent knowing that.

then we'd deserve each other, but they'd probably still find a way to strong-arm me into carrying a gun and learning hand to hand combat if i wanted to keep a job.

Ironwill, if the guy has anxiety disorder you have to consider a couple of things. 1) This is nothing he can control without the help of meds and some of those meds create god awful side effects. You can't just say "grow balls" about this man. It's more like "take care of yourself" bc anxiety disorder can be an extremely serious thing.

2) If he's already on meds, you can't just say "put him under" bc you have no clue how those sleep pills will react with the meds he's already on. You absolutely have to be supportive of his situation. With that said...

If the guy is whining, he has to stop. He knew full well what he was walking into.

BTW, what makes anyone think he wont regress. How do we know that in 3 years from now he will be mentally capable of playing an NBA game. This is what you have to consider with anxiety disorder. Some people can't get out of bed with it!

Nalod wrote:It was a gamble pick as his value dropped in the draft. Rockets knew the deal. I too was sympathetic but the dude is just running his mouth like he has a "Right" to be an NBA player and they should accommodate his "handicap".

He has to be able to fly. The logistics of games nearly demand it. Logistics of getting physical therapy demands it. Logistics of how coaching is dispensed and being part of the team demands it.

Not quite, but he sounds like a flight attendant complaining the airlines are not being sensitive to his condition. Dude gotta fly!

The graphic above with the head line below "march madness" takes on a new meaning! Im sure he is very frustrated with him self and the league but running the mouth looking for public support won't help. Gotta fly!

YEA, can't get a job as a traveling sales man and you have a fear of leaving home.. just doesn't work... The NBA is a job in which you travel by plane.. can't fly, can't play in the NBA.. I think tyrone Hill had a similar problem, but he flew when he had to and when possible, he took a bus...

Therapy isn't magic- it's very unlikely you'll get someone to go from fearing flying, to going on 80+ flights a year after only a few sessions! Ridiculous, really don't know what the rockets were thinking. Trust broke down, now he's convinced the Rockets are out to do him harm.

well this is a good way of looking at it also smack.. I didn't bother to look at it that way... good point..

Maybe Houston could've handled it better, but the guy has been a punk attacking the team over twitter. Is it really worth the effort? Do you want a guy when you have a game 7 road game who decides it might not be good mentally for him to fly? I don't trust his motives based on the way he handled it.

Royce wants to get paid for playing 82 games and play in games he feels like. Doesn't work like that.
