Knuggs built it around Gallo: Ironic!

Name a team that goes far in the playoffs that doesn't have a go to guy ?

Nugget fans are in for a rude awakening, at best they are built for the regular season.

Pressure of the playoffs brings out the mental midgets who shined in the reg season , but wilt under the pressure of meaningful games in the 2nd season. All the nuggets fit that category.

Since the majority of comparison is Knicks vs. Nuggs and "the trade", one can also conclude "how has having a go to guy worked for us?" IM pretty somber right now but I don't see us going very far this year. This will be three years with Melo in the playoffs.

I think it was good trade for the knicks. We are in the playoffs three years in a row which is better than before.

That in itself is a good thing. No complaints.

The long standing arguement has been: "We could not build around Gallo!"

BUt Denver did. They build around a good player who is inconsistant but because they are not paying him a star they were able to add lots of pieces and keep picks, thus they traded Melo and rebuilt around Gallo!

Not in the traditional sense of him being a closing star.

Denver is getting better as we are falling apart. Nobody here is saying Knuggs are a great team but the trend has them getting better thru the season. Come playoff time, we'll see what happens.

But if you want to compare you can't deny that since the trade, only Lawson exists and Gallo was the best player Denver recieved back. Not the best player traded, but the best player. They also got Corey Brewer.

Denver is a better team than us right now. Not earlier in the season.

Like Melos knee, its all a fluid situation.

Denver built their team around Lawson. They wanted to run and take advantage of his talent and the altitude. They have been smart in their acquisitions. Guys like Faried, Brewer, Javalle etc can run all day. I love that they got Iggy. I think if you could have guaranteed Amare would have stayed healthy Iggy would have been a great fit with Amare -. Gallo is a part of their success and he has sustained his health this year which is huge.

Not how it works, we were too busy outbidding ourselves for broken down Amare and Melo. One of the things I disliked about Walsh's Amare signing was the contract. He could have given him $70 M for 5 years and the dude probably would have signed. There wasn't one other team in the league offering him a guaranteed 5 year deal.

That would be by trading players that people actually want. And reagrdless of how jaded you are about them, there is afar bigger market for Denver's players than for our medical miracles.

Injuries haven't allowed us to truly compare what a go to guy has done for us with vets surrounding Melo.

Denver has to come to to realization Chauncey (big shot) Billups finals MVP isn't walking thru that door for Denver.

We tried the win around inconsistent players, that's why we traded them. LOL

Becoming the Phoenix suns of the east wasn't gonna cut in NY .

WE NEEDED BATTLE TESTED VETS !

Hows that going?

Injuries are part of every teams season. When your the oldest team in NBA history what can you really expect? The names on paper are stale. We got out to an early start. Then it broke down. Its like getting a high miliage BMW or Mercedes "at a great price". They are great cars but there is a reason why it came with a discount. High miles means things break.

Year three we are breaking.

You can't change a mental midget into a night in shining armor coming to save the day.

They like to run around at a fast pace and are easy to root for(entertainment purposes only) until they bow out like Phoenix did all those years.

As for the vets I'll tell ya when the 2nd season comes around, that is what they were brought here for right ?

PHX did better than we did, and are doing.

Is it better to go 2 rounds, or ECF than to not make playoffs, or get one and done?

Not all teams can win.

All I know is we have one a chip in 40 years and the "all in" season appears to be coming undone.

Its amazing how some of pur fans act like the Knicks are in a different class than most teams lol. Im a huge knick fan but 1 playoff win in 13 years is something taht we may never live down. Its pretty embarrassing

In the "Mecca", the "Sophisticated" see what they want to see.

Its like we buy a S-class Mercedes and think that makes us better. The other guys buys a Honda Accord, AND a boat, AND a motorcycle and is busy using them. Personal preference is ok, We got Melo but its not that we are better.

The record speaks for itself.

Were fans like this during the Isiah Thomas era? If they were then something is wrong lol

Somber starphuchers? Yep! Some of us actually thought layden was saving cap space/pick and then Isiah ( a starphuch himself) prematurely blows the wad on the Marbury and his band of (talanted) misfits, drunks, malcontents, injured and over priced contracts to disasterful results!

This somber has enjoyed most of this season just thinks the team was playing over its head and woodson did a fine job!

Those homers that bent over and took the whole starphuch are the ones that are hurting the most. Best advice, When jimmy dolan drops the Starphuch soap, don't try to pick it up.

Yea it was a gimmick, that got old, didn't win any Chips, but sure made the fans come back just to fall short every year.

You are probably right. It was awhile ago but the Knicks were scrambling once they lost our on LBJ. I think it was Amare or Boozer for big names left if I remember right. Knicks were desperate after their two year purge.

It's not crazy for folks to look at things from the perspective of the 2 teams involved in the big trade. I understood the desire to add a top tier talent like Melo. I also understand the idea of wanting to build off the youth we had before and see what developed. It would've left the team with more flexibility cap wise in order to make needed additions. Also having fewer huge cap hogging contracts has it's merits. The proof of concept will be demonstrated in the playoffs this year. We'll get to see how the Nuggets do and how the Knicks do with both models of team building.

Nix, this has been discussed ad nauseum for 2 years. There were a couple of threads looking back on this trade just a week ago, no to mention the "Other NBA teams discussion" thread which is really a Nuggets thread in disguise. Enough is enough already....

.....and yet here you are!

I made my point. Some wanted to discuss it. When the discussion is over so will the thread.

That is unless we go into the secondary phase of talking about the thread more than the threads actual content.

Besides there were lots of articles and threads related to our opponent the other nite. Which was the Nuggets. Who is 29 and 3 at home and spanked us good. Melo's first visit back since "the trade".

You might not like the current trend but its relevant.

Those who danced and sang the praise earlier in the season and celebrate Gallos inconsistency (as if he was the only trading piece) don't want to deal with the current trend.

Smacking down Lin, Gallo, Knuggs and Rockets does not help the knicks in any fashion. The games only matter.

Pistons's won a title and went to b2b finals right? Of course Billups (4 teams in 4 years and signed via mid level exception) is a superstar right? How about Boston.. oh yea, they have Paul "comparing Melo to PP is joke" Pierce and they won a title.

Hey.. the good thing about when your star players go down with injuries its always a good chance to give young guys extended minutes and get a good look at them. Oh wait....

I turned on the game last nite and was very saddened by the staring front line of

Cope
Kurt
KMart

Looked like the a post apocalyptic Starphuch from a bad movie. We could not get one of our "big three" out there!

$64,000,000 out and we got no "depth"!

Just looked sad. Felton looks over 30 next to those guys. we were up 8 pts and it was bed time for me. I was pulling hard for guys and was hoping it was one of those games that sometimes you win.

one way to look at it.........
