Chicago can score though and they are very difficult for the Knicks to match up against. If it was philly then It wouldn't mean a thing. With Mutombo can single-handedly help us beat the better teams like Indy on some nights.

Mutumbo was huge. I'd nearly forgotten what a boxout presence and rebounder he was for us before he got hurt. I had not forgotten about the shotblocking, and he came up huge in that department tonight. Penny Hardaway had his best offensive game as a Knick too. The touch on his jumper looked a lot better tonight.

I'm very relieved that we've clinched a playoff berth--- it was getting kind of ugly. It's nice to have Mutombo back.
While there's no doubt that Mohammed is capable of putting up good numbers in the scoring and rebound departments, Mutombo is an order of magnitude better on the defensive end with his still excellent shotblocking/intimidation skills. Nothing puts more fear in a guard driving to the basket than a 7'2" center with large, clumsy elbows. A big chunk of our inconsistent defensive play has come with Deke out, so perhaps he'll help us keep our opponents scoring under 100pts.
With a game lead in the loss column over Boston, we're the favorites to meet the Nets in the 1st round. Can we beat them? I suppose as long as we can slow down their transition game. There are lots of little subplots going on: will K-mart and Kidd be healthy, will Houston be healthy? Tim Thomas will be playing against his hometown team, Marbury and Kidd swapped places, Mutombo was dumped for nothing, Penny/Kidd were teammates, with IT's trades be enough...

"At the start of the second half, I was sitting on the bench and Lenny said, 'Let's go,' " Mutombo said. "I asked, 'Where are we going?' I didn't know he wanted me out there." ---Daily News

God I hope we get the Nets first round, I would love to see Dikembe swat another 10 blocks

I can't believe the posts about this being a one-horse team with no future. People are basing what's to come in the future, on the last 40 games of this tumultuous season. That's patent stupidity.
Why are we losing when Marbury has off nights, and why is marbury having off nights?
Could it be because the next best weapon in the knick offense has been in street clothes more often than not? To say nothing of the injuries to Deke and the time missed by Frank. Even with all the turmoil, the Knicks are an above .500 team since Isiah came aboard. Given an entire season, that translates to about 45 wins, and then factor in the cohesion that will come with training camp, coupled with whomever is signed for the MLE and it's no stretch so imagine a 50-win team next season.
The knicks aren't done building, but they've come a good ways. The first round pick was the price to pay for this success, this renewed interest. Going to the playoffs is just the first step.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
