At the very most, he might not get a contract extension after 2015 but i expect Dolan to resign him for the future. (Amare will be cut off though)

After 2015 Melo should never be offered another Allan Houston like max contract. He would have to take a significant pay cut at around $10-12mil since he already made his hundreds of millions and all thats left is to win a ring like Lebron. In 2015 we will definitely find out what drives Melo. In 2011 he was all about getting made max money under the old cba forcing the Knicks hand into giving up half the team. Let's see if he does the same in 2015 or he actually does whats best for the team this time having already made his hundreds of millions.

Not sure I want to resign him tho, He is in his prime rigth now, at his best, and he is a volume scorer, not much else. What will he be once he slows down after multiple knee/back surgeries?

This is the guy people are so up in arms about trading to to try to build a true championship contender? A team with numerous weapons, high IQ players? Not low IQ coaches and players like JR & Felton

After 2015, i think resigning Melo (for only $10-12mil) at the age of 30...and resigning Tyson for less money (maybe $8-10 mil) who will be about 32 and letting Amare, ray, Novak, Camby and Kidd go (something tells me the knicks will resign JR to a long 5yr deal) will leave about $50mil spending money. Targets #1 and 2 should be Kyrie and paul george

I think a lineup like this is very possible

PG Kyrie ($15mil)/ (backup)
SG Shump ($7mil)/ JR ($7mil)
C Tyson ($8mil)/(backup)
PF Melo ($12mil)
SF Paul George ($15mil)

thats 64mil there...thats a good team/use the rest of the money on solid draft picks and underated FA/young players

this is ALL HYPOTHETICAL..im just dreaming...lol

Knicks should be improved: win about 40 games and maybe sneak into the playoffs. Melo, Rose and even Noah will have some nice moments however this team should be about PORZINGUS. the sooner they make him the primary player, the better

Yea don't see Indy letting George walk. They will trade Granger next yr though.

This is all assuming Melo and Tyson resign for fair deals. When in reality Melo will use Dolan's clumsiness to their advantage and get another max Allan Houston like contracts. Then Melo can spend his final years in a suit collecting and counting against the cap. Then we can hire Isiah and go 60yrs without sniffing a ring. Surpassing the Rangers 53yr wait.

Knicks at 40yrs and counting right now

i agree...its wishful thinking...i dont think indy will let george get away (walsh is SMART) but i think kyrie will be available. my worry is that melo will still WANT $20 mill type of money because dolan will give it to him..SMH

I take it for granted that Melo will get a maximum extension from Dolan, there is no doubt in my mind about this

If Lebron goes back to Cleveland its going to be to play with Kyrie. Kyrie is going no where if that happens. Maybe we can get Lebron but I don't see him choosing us over Cleveland with Kyrie entering his prime

But this is the kind of team you built in order to have legitimate postseason success. Not a Melo 1 on 5 team in which you cater to all his scoring title needs by letting Lin walk for nothing and signing guys off the AARP

Maybe Kyrie comes to NY and LeBron follows????

All seriousness though, Kyrie is from here. I think if the Knicks have the cap space he'd play here.

I would give my left nut for a chance to see Lebron and Kyrie on the Knicks. That would truly be euphoric. Lebron like Jordan will still be dominate well into his mid-late 30s

Kyrie would be the absolute best player to put alongside Melo in 2 years.

Kyrie Irving is a restricted free agent in 2015, that means that Cleveland has the right to match any contract offered to him and, considering he's already worth a max deal, they will. Paul George is also a restricted free agent in 2015 and my guess would be that Indy matches any deal, including a max, do keep him.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

Lebron is not leaving the Heat until he's old and damaged. He'll rack up chips in Miami. Why leave?

This is a deal worth considering.

Those who say build around Melo how do we do that with old players that cant play, injured players, limited draft picks and no cap space. Wait till Amare expires but then Melo will want to be extended and the ridiculous raises will have him making 30 million a year. So there is no way to do it trade him and move on
