+1, Answerman.

Don't feed wild, morbid animals. It only makes them more dependent on the content of your garbage cans.

Who didn't cringe like a beaten stray when we were starting Chris Dudley...Chris Dudley....yes, Chris Dudley... repeatedly against the Twin Towers of Tonio in the Finals of '99? Wait, let me restate that all you "but he was an offensive rebounding machine" types. ...when we were PLAYING Chris Dudley...Chris Dudley...yes, Chris Dudley...repeatedly in the NBA Finals.

Who cried and moaned and wanted anything but watching Charlie football in your starting backcourt?

Who still wonders what the effing hell JVG thought he was doing sucking face with Zo's foot?

Who looked away from the TV repeatedly when Hubie would look blankly down the end of the bench and put in Ken Bannister...or Eddie Lee Wilkins...

This is our team. You may not have seen a championship since you stopped soiling your pampers. You may have suffered incredibly with our pathetic IT-zombie-brained owner. You may still wake up screaming seeing Louie Orr trying to dunk.

It's not brain damage to be a Knicks fan. Fandom isn't liking what works and wins. That's pragmatism. That's mutual funds hedge fund short sale options trading. It may be just that you love a particular sport. But that's not team fandom. You're here and posting because at some point in your past, you decided, yeah, that's my team. The other goobers in your homeroom would be sporting Bulls sheehit and Rockets sheeit and Lakers sheehit and Celtics sheeeit and Pistons sheeit. But not you. You were staying with your team. Brain damage? I don't think so.

Loyalty. Faithfulness. Honor. For some, they are just a punchline to Mooby homerism. Fables are made of crap like that. It's for little kids who oooooh and ahhhhh whenever Derek comes up to bat. But it's certainly not sophisticated and it's certainly not going to pass muster on a spreadsheet filled with Strat-o-metrics. Not when there are soooooooo many other choices available in this land of the Free with Purchase and Brave New World Order.

I am a Knicks fan, and a player of basketball you sons a beeyatches! The witness is excused!

I think what we learned from this is jrod has first hand knowledge of how a stray cringes when beaten.

The James "Flight" White experiment needs to end. Start Novak for offense or at least start Kmart who has more in the tank than KT. Dont know why woodson feels we need a better 2nd team than 1st team. Maddening

Dudes and dudettes, The Answer Man never wrote the Knicks would go undefeated on this brutal western death march. What The Answer Man WROTE was this would be one of our finest hours.

Translation for the reading impaired and anxiously impatient: From the crucible of this west coast trip will emerge a toughened Knicks personality. There will be cuss words, blood and reported dissension in the locker room. There will be moments our guys will be 'buked, scored and booed off the court. Yes, young fellas, it will be painful to watch.

That much is guaranteed.

If you watch carefully, and forget the scoreboard, there will also be adjustments. At some point a small light will flicker and guys will understand that there is nothing more important than TEAM. There will be losses. That is inevitable. There will also be an unreported team huddle in a coffee shop in some hotel in Sacramento or near LAX. Knicks players will have some moments of honesty with each other because on the road, you got no other means to travel but as a team, and you can only be honest with the guy sitting next to you, who you just got heckled off the court with. The cool part is that those losses will force change and we all know change is good. Especially, during the toughest scheduled month of the season.

So, don't pout, pontificate or try to prosecute The Answer Man as if he lied to you. James K Polk, you don't rehash thread headlines (via which The Answer Man has only intended to stimulate discussion), poke derisively (fish.mike) or deliver snark (knicksfan) via FedEx...

The Answer Man simply reminded you that when the going gets tough,

the tough get going.

And do we also learn that sombers would rather pee on MoobyMelo than admit starting and playing Dudley in our last chip trip was a really painful, bad move?
Maybe I need to learn more. Dog is always willing to learn.

Positives on the road to our finest hour:
--> they only scored 92 points, yayyyy D-Fense
--> Iron Wil Ground's fantasy league standings are alive and well!
--> Melo got lots of rebounds
--> We've possibly discovered that when Camby plays, we win!
--> Melo should have plenty in the tank for Denver!

I might be a bit more sympathetic to your beliefs if the team actually looked like they cared.

The Knicks suffer a series of heartbreaking losses in March. Fans jump ship as it be sinking faster than a lead Spalding.

The sun comes out in April.

Rasheed Wallace is spotted on the practice court.

A. One does NOT reach international recognition, regional respect or local acceptance by profiting from the beckoning bounce of the so-called booty.

However, The Answer Man IS a somewhat humble advocate for frontcourt truth, backcourt justice and the NYK way of hitting the open man.

loweye - if you did not think your words were important, you would not have the courage to write for all to see, yes? Legend? Only for entertainment purposes. It ain't that deep.

"Both teams played hard my man"

Woodson himself is here because he proved last year that he could reach this eclectic group, because as shaky as the Knicks have been, they are 27 games over .500 under his stewardship. He didn’t suddenly forget how to coach. He just needs to do it better, and soon, before the season gets away from him. And who knows what else.
- Mike Vaccaro

Curious, how media vultures start circling with a 55-27 record, BEFORE one full season has been played.

All the Answer Man was saying

Tonight was, like Bronx Chica commented, all kinds of bad. Every kind of bad. If there was any good, it was the sharp performance of Iman Shumpert, who scored 20 points on 10 shots (4-5 from downtown) and did well to remind us that the tyranny of knees can be defeated. Of course, this probably ends with the Nuggets taking him from us somehow.. - Seth Rosenthal

Cousins Tyson Chandler and Wilson Chandler would be a formidable combination.

On to Portland

"But Thomas, the oldest player in the league, pushed aside the pain. He logged 27 physical minutes in the finale of the trip, and his interior defense helped the shorthanded Knicks to a 90-83 win that snapped their four-game skid.

"I was just out there, just competing, just trying to do what I could to help the team out," Thomas said. "I wasn't thinking about how many minutes. I was just out there trying to have fun.
"Once the ball goes up, you're trying to block out as much as possible."

"That's a pure warrior right there," said J.R. Smith, who led the Knicks with 20 points.
"We gave him the game ball after the game," Mike Woodson said. "He deserved it, too."

“We stayed home on the shooters and they didn’t get any wide-open looks in the fourth quarter,’’ Thomas said. “It’s been a rough trip but we kept our heads up and this makes it feel a lot better.’’
