Now how will fans spin this....

Not mad at Sheed he was about turn the Century mark.

Another horrific signing by Grunny. That makes Brewer now Sheed pushing a count 3-2 one striking out while watching an off-speed pitch and another getting caught on a check swing....

Camby is in the On Deck Circle while Kidd is currently looking a 2-2 count

Skipper is looking deep into the dugout and has spotted Martin to DH if Kidd can manage to get on base.

Since we got Kenyon Martin to take Sheed's minutes we need to get some backcourt help. We need a veteran but not an old veteran. Who is out there?

Real CONTENDING teams never make this move not even if all of their Top 8-9 man rotation had broken feet and out for the year. Gotta learn to let go of your past heroes. Not to mention McGrady is another playoff FAILURE had the potential to be so much more though

A real shame. I was against the Sheed signing, but he really won me over with his play and his impact on the team. Make him an assistant coach the rest of the season and use his roster spot on a PG/SG.

I like the idea of Delonte West. I'd rent crazy but never buy.

I was vehemently against this signing not because Sheed hadn't proven himself over his career as capable. Basic common sense took over....away from basketball 2-3yrs 38yrs old...that's simpler than a 1+1=2 equation.

The best thing we can do is what Boston has done try and win with what you have maybe try and find someone like a T-Will talent if it exist(Donte Greene...although not thoroughly enthused) this is what happens when you make the kind of free agent signings and trades we've made.

knicks hopes of playoff success just dimmed a bit more. we were humming when both kidd and sheed were fresh and injury free.

no way kenyon martin is going to be as effective as sheed.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

kenyon can be effective, just in a different way than sheed, all depends on what type of shape he is in and how much he can contribute. I like him in starting lineup for 15-20 minutes per game if he can bring what he did with LAC. Rebounder, weak side defender, intimidator, energy guy.

Sheed bought the outside shot to the game which was a big asset! Opened things up a bit also.

If his man left him to stay down low he could shoot off the perimeter defender. If his man came out it opened lanes. Briggy had often mentionemd Byron Mullins and when not hurt he is effective in doing this. This is the new NBA which is more euro style.

Need two PG's that can go full out and bigs that can hit an outside shot.

Sheed was a low risk addition where anything he gave us was a plus. Its not like we cut the next Linsane player to keep him!

Sheed's contributions were always a bit overrated in my opinion. He's a big body and skilled player on D. He gave next to nothing on O. At one point he was able to sink 3's, but it certainly wasn't this season. Whatever we lost in him can be more than made up by a healthy KMart and Camby. Health is the biggest factor, obviously.

Knicks saying they expect to keep Sheed on the roster, might be ready for the playoffs. Terrible decision if true. Stress fractures are tricky enough and I doubt that a 38 year old will be ready to contribute in about 8 weeks. Hell, if anything wouldn't we be able to cut Sheed now, sign someone else to take his spot, and then if he's making good progress in his recovery couldn't we cut someone else, Copeland, White, and resign Sheed?

Being a fan of this team is one of the more stressful things in sports. The guy is OLD. The guy IS INJURED, he is of NO VALUE on the roster, Why dont they replace him with an able bodied person?

Even if he does come back for the playoffs, playoff basketball is much more intense....and at that point he wouldnt have run in over 2 months.....

It would be closer to 4 months and that's only if he's back in time for the 1st round. With all the holes this team has, and with the decent talent that's available, it's an unconscionable decision.

If this is true then this franchise has really reached new levels of incompetence.

This is exactly what this team doesn't have^ let him play tonight

If they are bringing someone in they have to have him signed by March 1 to be on the playoff roster. In regards to the playoffs, despite the doom and gloom on this forum I think the Knicks make it out of the first round this year at least. The playoffs are stretched out. There are not back to backs and Sheed could be ready at some point to play in the playoffs. If the team can get a vet that can contribute now and in the playoffs I think they should. If they are going to get a Gadzuric type or a young player that will never sniff the court they might as well keep Sheed. Earlier in the year guys, especially Cope, were talking about Sheed's positive influence on them and working with them. That might be worth more than a Gadz type signing or Henry Sims signing etc. I think we will know in two days as Friday is March 1.

If only the season ended in mid December. It was the best Knick basketball since the 90's. now wer are back to the 2002-2012 knicks. I gotta give sheed credit he played much better than i though he would and even thpugh it was predictable he would get hurt it would have helped to have him and camby. Hopefully this offseason the knicks will try and get some young blood instead of older injur prone players
