Devin Harris, Colderon with a S&T?

Martel Webster, Belineli, Dunleavy

If Marion get the axe I would take him over Artest on a 2 year deal with a team option for the 2nd year or partially guaranteed.

For example

Ny Trades Tyson Chandler to Sacremento for the 6th pick in the draft and PF Jason Thompson (we pick either Kelly Olynck or Victor Olapido in that order)

Ny drafts #24 Nate Wolters PG

Ny buys a 2nd round pick in the late 30's and picks Erick Green SG

Ny signs C Timothy Mosgov to a 4 year 12 mm $ contract

NY signs SG Martell Webster to a 4 year 10mm $ contract

Ny Signs Kenyon Martin to a 1 year contract

Line up

C Timothy Mosgov

F Amare Stoudemire

F Carmelo Anthony

G Martell Webster

PG Raymond Felton

C Jason Thompson

F Kelly Olynck

F Steve Novak

G Iman Shumpert

PG Nate Wolters

Green
Martin
Prigoni
Kidd
Camby

This gives us more diversity up and own the lineup. It blends in youth that can play now adds size to different positions and a diversity of skill and athletic ability. It also sets us up for a new core at the end of the next 2 years. We have diversity in size defense 3 pt shooting penetration ballhandling and gives us a stronger more polished depth that wont go belly up with injury.

You've come a long way from the guy in the Tyson thread I started earlier in the season. You called him a "monster" who was "saving us"
http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=43348&page=2
Yet Tyson's production has still been very good. The only thing that's changed is that the team is looking for him less on offense (well, and his rebounding and blocks have improved).

You have to give to get in this world my friend. If we fail this year--I dont see how we can keep Tyson and his 14mm $ price tag if we can find a deal like this.

If we fail again this year, I don't see how we can want to keep any of our current players. Melo is the one with the most trade value. I'd look to trade him first. Shumpert probably has more trade value still than his actual value. I'd look to trade him next.

Fail? how do we define success?

Is it where the starphuched worship Mooby and buy jersey's, support sponsers and tickets while viewership is up?

Is it where the team keeps a good % of fan base from leaving to BKN and its Swag?

Or where some actually define success as having won a championship?

Maybe Briggs is looking at it all wrong, its no how do we rebuild, its how can we starphuch more!!!!!

What i think this team will need to do is to move Tyson Chandler's contract out--preferably for a high draft pick and concentrate on getting younger faster more skilled and more diversified

The Spurs have 9 players on their roster--three starters who have 3 years of experience or less the Knicks have 3 of which one is 35. This team needs to diversify its roster like the Spurs.

I think we need a skilled long PG a couple of young 6-10 athletic big players and another proven NBA 2 guard all less than 30 years old. I would be looking at taking on 3-4 rookies and 3-4 NBA now players(6-7 new players to replace what we have now). If we rid ourselves of Tysons contract--we likely can use the big MLE.

There's no way we trade Tyson, and we shouldn't, unless we're blowing up the whole team.

Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come

this. He would be one of the last I would trade even despite his salary. Our defense is horrible without Tyson on the floor. If you are moving Tyson, you might as well blow it all up.

I don't understand why would we trade Chandler? He's a good center, protector, Defensive enforcer. We can't trade him for anyone with the same effect on the floor. Keep Melo, Chandler, Shumpert, and build around them. Find a nice combo forward to start next to Melo and go back to war next season. Learn from what worked early in the season. This was a contending team. Chandler is a big reason for it.

Even then, I'd trade him only if we're also tanking to get a high draft pick.

Its pretty simple. If we fail this year--this did not work. The only way I would not do something like this is if I get to the ECF and go 6 games in. We have 55mm tied into three players. In order for us to diversify--wed have to give up one and Chandler is the guy. This stuff about defense is stupid. Who plays C for Mimai--Chris Bosh a terrible defender. Its team concept and in this scenario wed have much better team defenders anyway.

But why wouldn't you trade the guy that our failed team was built around and that has more trade value than Tyson?

It shouldn't matter how much money we have tied into 3 players, because trading 1 of them won't get us under the cap to do anything. As long as we advance in the playoffs and move in the right directly, we can search for role players that improve our chances of competing. Melo and Chandler are too important to trade in a half-assed rebuilding effort.

So just because we failed to build around him this season means he is not a player you can build around? Was Lebron not a player you could build around in Cleveland since they fell short too?

2 Different players. One is a creator that makes everybody around him better. The other an elite scoring machine. Easier to build around LeDouche.

but we know melo will not go anywhere for maybe 20 years, and we know shump will, so you package tyson and shump for pekovic and ridnour and sign a tall guy to man the middle while peko muscles the boards, ridnour sets the offense and i don't know what we can do with felton, maybe put him on a fishing boat and see him float away

Who says shump will leave? Your opinion does not constitute a consensus. The recent "no trade" deadline proved the Knicks to be committed to shump, so long as he recovers well. He says he loves playing in NY.
