its called fandom Bonn and we all know that the very notion itself requires you to embrace a bit of insanity so, why would we or anyone expect fans to makes sens or be logical

because otherwise they're part of the problem that's lining Dolan's pockets.

not to mention it's impossible to have a rational dialogue. i don't have to embrace the fanatical part of fandom until the team's proper direction, style of play, and substantive winning compels me to.

there is nothing compelling about this team and you can trace it back to two years ago to the day, with a nice ten-game stretch at the beginning of this season to the short-lived illusion.

i'm "not a real fan?"

how about this: "the knicks are not a real team"

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

The problem is that we have a bunch of Kool Kats but no Rough Knecks that will call guys out by name for dogging it instead of the soft ass Kook Kats that complain in general terms. Oak would have gotten in JR's face by now. LJ would have pulled Melo to the side and told him to man up and stop looking for the ref's to bail your punk ass out. Van Gundy would have had these guys shooting a thousand free throws because of how many they miss. He would have benched guys who aren't defending and wouldn't be stupid enough to start Melo at the 4against David West or That Evil Ginger who plays for the Clips.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Most of us became fans in the 90s or earlier. You can't just consciously pick a new team.

If you hate me twice, you can make it 81%.

But really, that was an embarrassing loss and we're just pissed. Simple enough. Don't take it personally.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

yea I have to figure if I was younger and grew up in the 2000s I would certainly not have picked the Knicks to love.

I went Knicks cos of Ewing, Starks, Oak, Riley etc and the fact they won 50+ every year and got deep in the playoffs

First off you are going overboard. Nobody hates this team. We love the Knicks and want them to do well. From 2000-2012 Knick fans went through misery so we expected to one day have a very good season and a chance at a title. The first 6 weeks of the season the Knicks were fantastic. They played defense they didnt turn the ball they moved the ball. They played the right way and looked like a contender. However since mid December the Knicks have played .500 ball and all the great things they did in the beginning is now gone. So you cant blame fans for being upset at the way this team has played the past 2 months especially with the hard schedule we have from here on out

Agreed. Some guys don't like us long term fans complaining.

Expressing yourself is key. Being a Fan is not being fanatic. I think the fanatics here got that backwards.

NOt a fanatic but I get awfully tired of the constant negativity. Stances that negative guys have pushed me to this year: I loved Lin when he was here. I can't stand hearing about the guy now and I don't think he did anything wrong. I hated Melo and the Melo trade but the constant negativity has made me a defender of his and I think the trade was a good one for the Knicks. There has been an influx of guys that seem to want to do nothing but bash the team and Melo in particular. I have a very hard time with that. The team has looked bad for awhile. The great start was a long time ago. I get that. The loss to Toronto and Indiana are two of the worst loses I can remember as a fan (other than playoff loses). I don't have an issue with people reacting to bad losses. I have an issue with guys trolling around waiting to say I told you so every time the Knicks lose or Gallo or Lin have a good game.

Dude..it's been 13 years since we've gotten out of the 1st round.

We've consistently had amongst the highest payrolls in the league and for a good decade or so this was WITHOUT making the playoffs for a solid decade followed by ROYAL ass whoopings from Miami and Boston. Yeah we had injuries and lost to great teams but we barely put up any kind of fight.

Other than when Donnie Walsh came in at no point were we one of those teams that had a low payroll but promising young players just waiting to grow together. Other than that pre-Melo team at no point could we shrug off losses like the one last night and say "oh well we're a young team and we're learning from this"

Fans are supposed to root for the team to win and care about the team. In my mind everyone who is still crazy enough to spend time watching the Knicks, rooting for them, pissing and moaning about them and checking some internet forum about them is probably amongst the most (stupidly) diehard fans in the Knicks fan base.

I don't see where anyone declared that as fans you have to always have positive feelings about a team regardless of the circumstances.

You think fans of any other team (other than maybe the Royals) is going to put up with a DECADE + of high payrolls AND losing AND what is universally viewed by anyone who follows sports as clumsy management and have a sunny disposition? You show me that fan base.

We're still watching the games and obviously care very much about the team and are praying that they find a way to win.

If you can withstand what's happened with this team since 2000 and still be upbeat then I commend you but I am absolutely mindboggled that you don't understand why people would criticize ownership/management/coaching/players.

If a true fan is someone who can do that and all the other mere mortals are just "fans" then I guess I'm just a so-called "fan" Shame on me?

kinda surprised no one said 'cheers' for this post. i think its this for me and probably others. if this team picks it up (there is still time), folks will forgive and partially move on. didnt like dantoni, curry, marbury, etc -- however... if they would have won, i would have had no probs if they remained.

folks seem to be worried the bad ol days are coming back despite talent upgrades.

GO TEAM VENTURE!!!!!

Because it's ****ing New York,

Melo and 45 wins, first round exit would be fine for the Bullets or Suns,

this is a market that is on the level of Boston and Los Angeles but it performs like a weak bitch,

no excuse for this team, with this amount of cash money and power,

it's disgusting.

the standard is higher here for a reason, if you're happy with garbage, year after year after year, then enjoy your Melo

THANK YOU!

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please
