So, there was a claim made on another thread that everyone hates Sprewell. Go ahead and vote and we'll see if that's true.

without a doubt. I always wonder what he could have been for us if he'd been allowed to play his natural position of 2guard. Instead he produced form the 3, being guarded by and often effectively guarding opposing small forwards.

People keep calling his scoring sporadic but, he always averaged within a point or 2 of Houston with better passing and rebounding. If he'd been able to play the 2guard, I have little doubt he'd have averaged more than Alan.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I used to get skinned alive regularly on this board when maintaining that exact opinion back when VanDundee was actually doing it.
See the 99 Finals. That's what a prototypical 2 guard is capable of.

BK...too early for Ewing. Spree too late for Ewing and too early for this team. Imagine what Spree of '99 starting on this team at the 2 would be like...

JVG sometimes went with the BIG Backcourt. I loved that lineup. Basically had 2 guards and not a PG or SG. Wish JVG used it more.

I used to sit screaming at the TV for Jeffy Fries to just play Spree at the point and live with it. But no, JVG loved Charlie Football.

The only time I ever actually called the Mike Fatcessa's and dog show was to voice that opinion and Mike flat out disagreed with me; "Sprewell doesn't have the handle to play the point..."

That alone told me I must be right.

H2O can also the point. I mean just have the guard that is being guarded by the opponents SG bring it up or have LJ bring it up against the team SF. I do love JVG though. So I can't really complain.

Spree and H20 = the one-two combo no one thought would work. If only Patrick was healthy that year.

God I loved those '99 jerseys.

it worked because Spree swallowed his pride and played the 3 despite being the superior 2guard. If Spree hadn't been such a real man at the time, we might have found ourselves in another Marc Jackson, Rod Strictland situation where one would have to go. How I wish to God we had kept Rod and Let Marc Jackson go.

I also remember wishing for Jeff to play Latrell at the point. He did have the handle for it and even played the point for the Easts squad at the Allstar Game.

The jerseys were legit...

and, yes, shocking the combo worked. Honestly, i always thought it was a bit of a travesty that the Knicks couldn't find a PG to pair with them. I remember Jason Terry and Mike Bibby being discussed way back when.

I always thought I was in the minority in thinking I'd rather have had H20 than Spree (this being a quite vivid illustration of that) - yet there is a thread about everyone hating Spreewell? WTF is going on here

hell, I even took some malicious joy in watching him come back and torch the shyt out of Houston while cursing Dolan out with every bucket he made.

I remember also wishing we could have paired them with a halfway decent point guard, instead of Christ Childs and Charlie Ward (who happens to be a cousin but, I couldn't take pride in the fact because I always though he sucked too much to be on my beloved Knicks. Family or no family)
