easy, this is only "for show" he is telling us "no, i am a celtic",

cash money talks, chance to win championship and play with chris paul, up-and-coming champion team, celtics are the pits now,

it's all for show, this "i am a celtic" front, he has to stay in the good graces of the fans

They just need to trade Paul Pierce- as soon as he's gone, KG has no reason to stay.

poor paul pierce,

he was there before allen and kg, now allen and kg are both gone and pierce is again the Lone Celtic,

it is poetic trajectory

Now that would do it, otherwise KG stays with the group to prove they can still compete.

He gets to finish his career for a championship contender instead of spinning his wheels with Boston and, I believe, he either lives or used to live in Malibu so he would be closer to home.

he still has home in malibu, now if he plays for clippers he can win the championship and then in the off-season he can cruise with the top down, money ain't a thing

That C's team might break up anyway. At least this way he goes to a contender.

He'll be gone as soon as the C's and Clips agree to a deal. KG will love to play alongside Chris Paul.

So of the two that will be left, who gets traded or leaves first, PP or Rondo?

I always end up thinking that DJordan had more upside than he actually shows.

Why would the C's trade KG? They are in Playoff contention and just ran off a win streak. Also Bradley is no slouch. Trading KG or PP would cause that fan base to mutiny.Ownership knows that.

The idea that they want to trade and start over is based on Danny Ainge saying a few seasons ago that the Celtics made a mistake in trying to hang onto their players too long back at the end of their glory days, and that they should have traded them to get pieces to rebuild with. The last two trading deadlines he's been very very close to pulling the trigger, but has backed out- basically his brain is telling him to trade, but his heart is against it.

If I were them I'd stick with what they've got- look at the Bulls post MJ and the Mavs this season as a cautionary tale of what happens when you let a good thing go for the hope you can rebuild something better.

However as a Knick fan I hope they break that team up- I worry about meeting them in the first round and having to endure Pierces smug smile of last second victory...

I'd want my team to always be on one of two paths:
A) contending for a championship
B) (re)building

I don't think they'd on either path if they kept KG and Pierce. They'd be on path C) - stuck in mediocrity.

I don't know, I think people seem to have this romantic idea of 'rebuilding'- that somehow you always make wise draft choices, and each year you develop and get better. In actual fact it's much messier than that, and you can be stuck with nothing and go no where (Bulls post-MJ). For me, the Celtics will likely never have the likes of Pierce and KG for over a decade- sometimes I think you may as well just ride it out all the way, like we should have done with Ewing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pierce and K.G. get traded to the Clippers....Paul is California bred.

As they discuss this trade, C's have signed Terrence Williams to 10 day contract via Twitter....

NBA source adds Williams to #celtics is nearly done. He is waiting for clearance letter from Chinese team and headed to Denver to join team

That team would be nasty:

PG Chris Paul
SG Billups
SF Pierce
PF Griffin
C KG

But I don't see them having the salary to send back to get KG AND Pierce. Also the signing of Terrence Williams indicates they're not breaking the team up- he's more of a tinkering signing, wouldn't really be a rebuilding piece.

I don't see KG as a big upgrade over Jordan or Pierce as a big upgrade over Bledsoe. They'd just be getting old and slow. They're almost an .800 team in games Paul plays in. They shouldn't break this up.

there's a huge difference between regular and post season and I think Jordan is a player that gets exposed. KG would be a HUGE upgrade over him.

Half court game versus speed game. I don't know how you can equate Peirce and Bledsoe.

Once you adjust for minutes, you'll see Bledsoe is more productive than Pierce is at this stage in his career. No one's actually ever shown convincing evidence that different qualities are needed to win playoff than regular season games.

But Bledsoe is about to get squeezed out minutes wise by Billups. Pierce is a big upgrade over their current SF.
