A championship, I assume - not just being a top 8 team. What should he want? What do you want?

Instead of Knicks love I'm reading about the Melo trade, how if we were in the West we wouldn't be as good, that Ray Felton is not that good and pro/con Melo thread? I understand that not all threads/posts are going to be positive and a decade of losing can play mind tricks but WOW. The reason I joined this forum is that there seemed to be a ton of intelligent Knicks fans and basketball fans in general. It seems that many are waiting for the wheels to fall off and are more content to discuss negatives over positives.

C'mon people! This is a NEW TEAM. Yeah the players have the same names across their chests but this is a different TEAM. We're over half way through the season and are a half game out of the #1 seed. I believe that this team can win it all this year.

All I can say is that I'm loving this season and loving this team. How about you?

Yeah, there is NO DEFENSE for the negative Nancy's posting here. Especially the butt hurt veterans of the board who, I wish would become lurkers or, even better, go become Houston or Denver fans.

We suffered through some torturous seasons but, the Knicks Winter is over, we enjoyed the hope brought on by Spring and now that light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and brighter as the season progresses.

For every positive mention of our hero's, someone feel the need to chime in with a negative...wtf is that all about. One doesn't need or have to be a homer to feel ecstatic about what is happen with our favorite ballers. One doesn't have to be a homer to be pleased with Amare and Co. YOU ONLY NEED TO BE A FAN.

For some reason, guys feel the need to play The Devil's Advocate and Bam (as Dan likes to say on PTI) we have to endure the Melo haters and then true fans chime in to counter and the next thing you know.....THREAD HIJACK.

I love this team, I love this game and I love NEW YORK

the winter was over two years ago when we had one of the youngest teams in the NBA and were winning games and beating the best teams in the NBA. Then it came back. The winter was over this time last year when your hero who had quit on the team got hurt and Linsanity ran off a bunch of wins and made the Knicks relative again. Then it came back. Now the winter is over again this year right?

I hope your right!

This has been a great season thus far, but the reality is we dont know how good this team is. The East has been very weak and the Knicks have not been consistant and there are key players on this roster who are a older than dirt.

Ive enjoyed every win. Its great to the see the team playing so well. Seeing STAT round into shape certainly improves our outlook come postseason. You need real scoring to win those games, as we have seen in the past teams lead by 41% career post season volume shooters, DONT tend to do well in the playoffs, so it seems we may dodge that bullet and this team can actually accomplish something. That would be REALLY exciting. Time will tell.

someone obviously has misread my post. Melo is not MY personal hero. I referred to the team as a whole as my hero's. Also, nice of you to rewrite history. And please, lets not bring Linassity or D'Antoni into this. Guys were and still are INSANE about Melo NEEDING to fit in with Lin. Who the fuk was Lin. He was the one (as Jeff VanGundy said) who needed to learn to play with Anthony, the established VET. D'Anphony mis-used Melo, miscoached this team and I am damn glad that they are BOTH GONE.

Also, the winter ended THIS season. Any year you have Bibby and a broken Baron Davis as your point guard and an injured Stat on the shelf, you are experiencing the height of WINTER. Lin gave us a few day above freezing but, that is about it.

You compliment the team with a backhanded insult.....I was right that by making positive statements someone would chime in with the negative...even if they tried to camouflage it.

Also, how is 31-15 inconsistent. Inconsistent was life under D'Antoni where, even if your doing good, you might find yourself benched. Dude was so stubborn that if that he'd refuse to play someone just because the crowd wanted them. N8 was playing well pre-Allstar break but, once he won the dunk contest, coach benched him because he thought it would give N8 a big head. What an ass.

didnt camouflage a single thing. Your post is spot on with what has been pointed out over and over and over again. If you dont think this team is the best and Melo is the best your a hater. Good job. No camouflage needed on that one

Sorry. I am very pleased with the season from top to bottom, including everyone on the roster. Melo has played great. Amare has come back and is playing great. Woody has been solid. Shump is rounding into form. It could be skys the limit. Or it could be we are still build around a player that shoots a career 41% and has the worst playoff record of any NBA player in the last 20 years. So excuse me. Did I rewrite that history also? No. Im happy your so excited. Really... I am. Glad your enjoying. Myself I have been burnt by this team over and over again as mentioned above. So I will be happy to acknowledge their greatness when something has been accomplished. As of right now we are the Pacers, Grizz, Warriors, Nugs, Bulls, etc etc.. we are good, but we are not elite. I do hope we get there. In the meantime I will simply continue to enjoy the games. If thats ok with you.

once again, I never said that homer crap either. I said that whenever there are positive mentions, someone will chime in with a negative and I was right. Never said Melo was my hero but TEAM MEMBERS ARE MY HERO'S. Never said or inferred that you'd be a hater if you don't think Melo is great or the team. Your either trying to bait me or lack reading comprehension. Where did I state any uber love for Melo. PLEASE POINT IT OUT. When did I say your a hater if you not homering????

Please do not attribute things to me that I never wrote.

So do all the NBA teams. Very few have actually won it all and most of them have been spread among just a few teams. People don't understand how hard it truly is to put together a championship roster and how hard it is to win it all. So many things have to go right along with a dash of luck. You can have the best team in the league by a large margin and still lose if struck with a bit of bad luck.

While Im happy with the direction of the team..Honestly looking at how we are playing, the euphoria hasn't hit me yet..I have high expectations and we still have a bit of work to do...We have to get Amare fully into the mix...I would like to give Shrump some time to get his legs back...We are going to need the defensive stopper Shrump can be..But yes, we are close..I would love to see Amare be the focus of the offense and Melo play off that..He doesn't need help, he is instant offense..30-15 is beautiful but it's about how we play and we aren't just there quite yet...Dudes are still tripping about Gallo..Freaking amazing!!!

I'm in NYC as well and am also a Yankees and Giants fan. I think it's becuse of the winning that those teams have done in the past that has allowed me to be so patient with the Knicks and has kept me being a fan through all the losing. I know exactly what you're saying. In Yankeesland anything less than a championship is a failing season. The thing is I feel the same way about the Knicks.

I 100% beleive that this team has the talent and the ability to win it all. This team has been hit with the injury bug big time this year yet we still managed to get to where we are. We're still missing Sheed & Camby but they were never going to be a huge part (major minutes) of the team regardless. We all knew that getting a healthy Amare and Shump back would be key. Amare is playing lights out and has embraced his roll. Shump still has a way but he's improving and theres still plenty of season left for him to get closer to his old self.

As far as the West is concerned, there is no denying that its the stronger conference. However, at the end of the day we just need to handle our business in the East and manage to beat that one team that is representing the West in a 7 game series. The season rests on what we do in the playoffs but the regular season is going to dictate how easy or difficult the path to the big trophy is going to be.

We're beating the living crap out of the teams we should beat right now. This is the happiest I've been with the Knicks in almost 20 years.

I definitely get that but I don't get upset with fans when they don't get euphoric from a .650 regular season.

Not really. The straw that broke the Camels back has not mended for me. I have only watched 2 full games with Knicks and that was against Houston. I still follow the Knicks but only through UK. I want nothing but the best for the Knicks but I am not there yet in regards with my fanatical approach. I mean I used to watch all the games then watch Knicks in 60 or the Encore the following day. Before we had that I used to tape the games and watch the tape until the next game when I had to tape over the game tape. I hate Dolan and his cronies. I miss the Checketts era. Heck, I would even take Al Bianchi era right now if it meant there is no Dolan.

THe record speaks for itself.

As we go along the team will define itself. HOw we doing vs. .500 and above teams? How are other teams doing the same? Road record against .500 teams vs. other teams road records. Stuff like that. The bigger the sample the valid the results. As the season progress's the comps get easier to see.

Not talking trades, Dolan, firing coach's, hiring coach's, Starphuchs, saviors or regrets. Just games.

The record speaks for itself. I don't even watch all the games now. Watched first half vs. Detroit and that was enough. Not taking things for granted but there was nothing left to see. Im also buys with some other things too.

I am very impressed with the team and the league. I like the stories out of Brooklyn, Denver, GSW and the rockets. Some fun teams to watch or keep abreast of. Rockets 23 3's is fun! Warriors response was also!

Knicks record speaks louder than any of us!

Exactly, big difference. Are Knicks fans not allowed to celebrate the "ride"?

We know a Championship is the ultimate goal.

Can't proud parents celebrate their baby "crawling" first before "walking"?

When I first started posting here I wondered why so many people were so "negative"

Then I saw Layden trade for Mcdyess. Isiah Eddy Curry etc and the rest is history. I began to understand.

With that said I am enjoying this season immensely especially when we move the ball and defend and play the right way.

If the Knicks fall short of a championship then I'm going to continue to wish I had Lebron and Durant and be slightly skeptical of any team the Knicks organization puts together and their reluctance to develop their own Lebron/Durant.

I love this team, but they are slacking on d. If they play d, they can certainly take on Miami in a 7 game series, but if they aren't committed on both sides, I might lean towards the Heat.

In Laydens defense, who would not have pulled the trigger on the McDyess trade. McDyess was a beast of an order NEVER seen in a Knicks uniform. Easily a franchise talent.

The coach at the time was dumb for leaving him in a preseason game for so long but, then who could have foreseen what happened.

He was coming back from Microfracture which is worse than a Torn Acl. Then Chaney plays him 40mins to win a preseason game LOL

this. its this simple. I dont even expect a championship, but I would like to compete for one. Knicks of the 90s did that. Yanks do every year. Giants do that every year. Field a team that can built around guys who know how. A lot of things have to happen to win a chip, and sometimes great teams and great players just dont get there

We're taking care of business and doing what good teams do which is win the games would should win. Granted I haven't been a member of this forum as long as many of you but I would be lying if I didn't say I was dissapointed at the lack of enthusiasm here on the UK.

Weak? Wow, kind word seeing how awful the East is.
People talking about Denver in this thread should be happy they're playing in the West all the while having played 17 of their first 23 on the road.

The East being so bad and our insane 3pts % are the only reason we have a shot at the finals.

If we were in the West we would be in 4th place with Gallo's Knuggetts and David Lee's Warriors right at our heels.

If your a Knick fan this has been a good season and there is plenty to be happy about. Enjoy the journey

I agree with everything you wrote. Including Knicks having talent to win it all. This team has shown some signs, but has also shown some weaknesses and the season could go either way.

I think with Amare's leadership you will start to see good things happen. You cant lead from the bench. you have to play. His effort is there on defense and the boards. His scoring is vintage Amare, and while he's ready to expand his role he will be a good soldier and back the coach. He's got a lions heart and a temper to match. He's the key to me.
