Because it means that you're first place of your entire conference 50 games into the season. Oh wait, maybe the goal is to be 12th place 50 games into the season ala having to climb uphill throughout the remainder of the regular season? Yea, right, that's it.

Nalod wrote: you can freak out when then drop from it?

Actually, no, you're wrong. Being first place of an entire conference means that you're in first place with only 32 regular season games remaining. It means, that at the All-Star break, the #1 seed has a head start amongst all opposing teams moving forward ala an advantage moving forward,

Nalod wrote: Only thing that counts is after the regular season and the seeding you get

Yea, right. As if you just "magically appear" with the number one seed and/or if our first 50 games of the regular season means nothing. Only thing that counts is after the regular season? Yea, right. Tell that to the likes of PHX, NOH, SAC, MIN, DAL, WAS, CHA, CLE, ORL, TOR, DET etc, etc. How many of these teams are still playing meaningful games?

Also, I will always and forever QUOTE you on "The only thing that counts is after the regular season and the seeding you get". So, the next time you make a negative remark after a Knicks loss and/or harp all over our Knicks due to a single loss, you know what I'll quote moving forward? "THE ONLY THING THAT COUNTS IS AFTER THE REGULAR SEASON SO QUIT YOUR REGULAR SEASON COMPLAINING". lol.

Also, fans such as myself enjoy the journey to the postseason and/or potential championship. The Journey and the challenges that we've had to overcome as a team. Fans, such as yourself, don't understand that A.) You must win during the regular season in order to even B.) Have a chance come postseason play. Do teams such as PHX, NOH, SAC, MIN, DAL, HOU, POR, LAL, WAS, CHA, CLE, ORL, TOR, DET, BOS and/or PHI have a chance at the number one seed here in 2012-2013? The answer would be NO. And the reasoning behind the answer? Because they've failed heading into the All-Star break ala regular season.

SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT GUY?!? Or, are you just being negative for the sake of being negative?

In closing, if the goal is to end up with the number one seed during the regular season, wouldn't it be safe to say that owning the #1 seed 50 games into the regular season puts you in solid position to do just that during your remaining 32 games; Enter the playoffs with the number one seed. Or, would it be the goal to be the 5th-15th seed heading into the All-Star break?

Last but not least, you do know that the regular season ala playoff run started on November 2nd of 2012 against the Miami Heat, right? 45 games ago. We won that battle. It's now Feb 3rd of 2013. The chase/run/goal for the playoffs doesn't start on April 18th. You do know that, right? So your little "only thing that matters is after the regular season" sounds very clueless and makes zero sense.

Look how happy I made you! You have something to write about.

YOu started this thread not me. Im not saying its a bad thing but its totally intangible.

you took the last thing out of context, I meant the regular season is very important but its not over is it? The Seeding is very important and I would be thrilled to finish first. Note the Word "FINISH". Not, "we were no.1 with 32 games to go". What does that do? All star game meant something when you were kid right? or when every game was not on tv.

Im not being negative. But im not jumping up and down excited over this. When the season is over then we know the record and seeding.

Your a funny dude sometimes. Just ready to go off on anyone that is not all warm and knick fuzzy.

Great now Spolstra is going to run Melo and Tyson into the ground in the Allstar Game.

Hopefully this is the only time Miami send Woodson on vacation this year

Oh well, coach Woodson gave it a strong run. Would have loved to see us feature Woodson as the Eastern Conference head coach during only his first full season as Knicks head coach. With all that said, as a team, we can still head into the All-Star break first place of our Eastern Conference. As of right now we're only 1/2 a game behind Miami for the one seed.

Monday:
Knicks vs. Pistons.
Miami vs. Charlotte.
Chicago @ Indy.

Tuesday:
Indy vs. Atlanta.
Brooklyn vs. Lakers.

Wednesday:
Indy @ Philly.
New York @ Washington.
Atlanta vs. Memphis.
Miami vs. Houston.
Brooklyn @ Detroit.

Thursday:
Chicago @ Denver.

Friday:
Brooklyn @ Washington.
Indy vs. Toronto.
Atlanta vs. New Orleans.
Miami vs. Clippers.
Knicks @ Minny.
Chicago @ Utah.

Sunday:
Knicks vs. Clippers.
Miami vs. Lakers.
Brooklyn vs Spurs.

Monday:
Brooklyn @ Indy.
Chicago vs. San Antonio.
Atlanta @ Dallas.

Tuesday:
Miami vs. Portland.

Wednesday:
Atlanta @ Orlando.
Indy vs. Charlotte.
Chicago @ Boston.
Denver @ Brooklyn.
Knicks vs. Toronto.

Thursday:
Miami @ OKC.

As you can see, the Eastern Conference is about to get busy heading into our All-Star break.

Knicks:
vs. Pistons.
@ Washington.
@ Minny.
vs. Clippers.
vs. Toronto.

Heat:
vs. Charlotte.
vs. Houston.
vs. Clippers.
vs. Lakers.
vs. Portland.
@ OKC.

Miami has a much tougher schedule heading into the break when compared to our Knicks. Would love to see us head into the all-star break as the number one seed with only 32 games remaining before postseason play. Every game matters.

Really? Now you're starting to sound a little clueless. Since when was 50 games heading into the all-star break considered to be (only) "half the season"? You're wrong as wrong could be. Half the season come the all star break? Try again. Think smarter. 50 is half of 100. But since when was 50 considered to be only half of 82? That's what I'd like to know. In case you haven't noticed we're already past the half way mark. We were at the half way mark after game #41. We're now at game #45 and still have another 5 games remaining before the all-star break. It'll be 50/82 come the All-Star break. Only 32 regular season games remaining. Nice job of trying to eliminate 9 games though. But yea, which "half season" were you referring to when trying to down play the importance of being a number one seed come the all-star break?

Did anyone actually waste their afternoon watching Toronto? Of course I subscribe to the "anyone but Miami" mantra, but eesh. Not even Woody wanted to spend his Sunday with the Craptors.

Enjoy your vacation Woody, Coach of the Year is still up for grabs.

Thanks for the math lesson. I think the coach for all star was determined today, and yeah, I over shot it by 4 games.

Don't fret, league has real good stat guys that keep the schedule.

How about this:

team is no. 1 going into the last week. Say, thru 79 games. I guess your quick to realize there are 3 game left right? Ok "Good Will Hunting"? Say we are no.1 by a game, then lose three in a row, and Miami wins three? Tell me, we don't finish 1st right? Of course not. So what does it matter?

We get the 2 seed. Lets see the season thru the end. Thats all Einstein, thats all.
