I guess I'm not seeing the issue with these comments by Amar'e. Skepticism is fine, but all STAT is doing here is taking excuses off the table. And you have to love hearing some of the comments straight from Amar'e himself.
Offensively I’m definitely improving for sure and my main goal so far this season is to get better defensively so I’ll keep working on that.

I look forward to seeing it.

Amar'e did not say anything that should kindle the type of vitriol spewed in this thread. Some here need to go get a life, seriously.

Did anyone say anything here that should kindle your kind of reply? No one said they hate Amare or wish him illness.

Its great that Amare feels like he is 100 percent but I hope he tries to pace himself. I think of Dice in that preseason game. He felt the same way but tried to do too much too soon.

Lets not forget these guys HAVE to talk to the press. THey get asked questions, its their response.

What is he suppose to say: " What happens, happens", or " lets see how I do". Fans then will say he is not "passionate".

Personally I won't read too much into their quotes.

I am sure he feels good but I think back to McGrady when he was in NY. His first Knick game he was amazing. As time wore on it became obvious that he could not overcome his injuries.

I seriously doubt that, Amare gets a lot of love in NY from the fans, even on the road, it's just a few selective Haters who quickly forget that we were trash for 10 yrs before he got here..

You gotta give him some time guy's, it's got to be an adjustment for him playing with melo and jr, not seeing the ball on a consistant basis. He had a couple of days in training camp and that's it...

Reporter ask how you feeling, whats he suppose to say..I guess im ok.

He gets love because he's a good guy,

You run ZBo in MDA's first season and we win 42 games, Amar'e's first season Knicks won 42 games, that's 3 more wins than the 03-04 Marbury Knicks, so let's not go crazy,

I understand they have to talk to media, and this comment on its own is not a big stinky fish; it's that you add it to the getting taller, gaining muscle, punching extinguisher, the cumulative effect is that he's a talker first and action second,

We'll see, all the time in the world to right the ship this year.

Good points. I was actually thinking about Marbury's first year here. The team was around .350 and hadn't made the playoffs in a long-time. They then played around .550 ball for the rest of the year with Marbury and made the playoffs for the first time in years. Why am I bringing this up? Because it's pretty comparable to what Amare did and no one outside of the a few Knicks message board posters care about or remember it.

I hope the medical and coaching staffs aren't listening. I don't want him getting heavy minutes until he is completely fluid as well as proven to be in top notch conditioning. he was in awful shape last year and he should have to get in the best shape of his life as penance

Amar'es conditioning tends to not be an issue because he does incredible things like that. However, it's such a fine line with how much muscle he needs and how much weight he needs with the back and knee issues. Hopefully he figured it and it really is just a matter of getting his timing back and learning defense as opposed to him toughing it out and trying to work through too much added muscle or too much weight loss. A healthy STAT getting things together would mean the world to the Knicks. All of those easy dunks and that sweet mid range shot coming back can only lead to more wins. Improved defense would be a lovely surprise.

I don't see the comparison, we were basically rebuilding with a whole new roster. Back then we made a mid season trade and upgraded the position, but still had a lot of left over's..maybe record wise you can compare, but the situation was entirely different. The roster got flip twice in one season, do you remember that

Amare comes to the knicks we basically was 2 games over .500, melo comes to the knicks, we finish at .500

You're taking it too literally. The point is bringing you're team up to .500 is nothing special. Marbury did it and probably a thousand other forgotten players have done it.

To a certain degree your right, but when your talking about a team that finish 20 games under .500 for 8 yrs in a row, getting into the playoffsis pretty significant. Going fwd the bar raises, and Amare is and will be a big part of that. .
