Not going to happen unless OKC and LAC get into a funk for a couple weeks. I say if the Knicks can be 33-17 by the All Star break (9-4 from now until the break) we have a super good chance of getting the 1 seed. But I'll take top 2.

Best case scenario is us at the 2 seed, Miami at #1 with Chicago and Boston at 4-5. That way, let's say Indiana or Brooklyn make it to the 2nd round and we contend with them rather than the winner of Chi/Bos, who Miami would have to deal with.

That's a perfect scenario for the Knicks if the get #2 seed. Gives us the clearest path to the ECF with either Miami, Chicago or Boston battered after 2 grueling rounds.

That would be a good scenario. Avoid Chicago, Boston and Miami at all cost

To be the man............... avoiding teams solves nothing.

I agree and think they're overthinking the situation. There are tons of different ways the seedings could unfold. Just try to get the #1 seed and have home court advantage against the whole eastern conference.

I agree Bonn. If we play defense like we did early in the year then we can get the top seed. Right now we are not as good as Chicago, Boston and Brooklyn and Indy doesn't have Granger. Miami doesn't need the first seed. Lebron will turn it on in the playoffs

For a team with the second best record in the conference, there seems to be a lot of teams "better" than us. lol

After tonight we will be in 2nd by a half game. Both Chicago and Indy play inferior teams. Brooklyn is playing Atlanta without Josh Smith

Although Miami is 8-9 on the road and they are in Golden state tonight. We can actually be tied for 1st place for a second

If the knicks beat the Pistons, none of those play enough games to pass us this week.

all the writers/t.v people are talking about other teams and take that as a fact like the heat are locked as the first seed!
the heat are easying their way to the last two months of the season and the knicks when healthy are a very deep team.

if we go on a winning streak we can get the first seed!

Why "talk about the first seed"?

When we're currently playing for it...

As the current number two seed, being only .5 of a game back of the defending world champions (Miami Heat) doesn't lie... We're not "talking" about number one seed; we're actually playing for it.

Let's not even talk about injuries.

Kidd (4 games).
Melo (7 games).
Felton (9 games).
Thomas (13 games).
Rasheed (17 games).
Camby (23 games).
Stoudemire (30 games).
Shumpert (37 games).

If the Knicks haven't and/or aren't playing for the number one seed, then I guess it's safe to say that zero teams are.

East is very tight though. 8th placed team is only 5 games behind us. We're competing for 1st seed, but given our indifferent recent form, we might be more likely to fall back a bit.

Glad our upcoming schedule is relatively easy.
