Shump wasn't even at his best defensively yesterday. He lost Prince a couple of times, and gave Knight the lane once, although he missed the shot. But, that steal and silky smooth layup he had was
so Shumpert. I'm amazed by how fluid his finish was on that play, given the fact that this was his first game back. Also? His jumper looked really good. He's clearly been working on it; it's much more polished than it was last year. He's developed a nice, smooth stroke. Very good form.
I have missed his energy and youthful enthusiasm for the game. His presence felt like such a great lift for the team - I can see why Woody had him in the starting lineup. It's no coincidence that the team got off to a good start for the first time in ages with Shump back in the lineup. Very good decision on the coach's part.
