BUZACTLY hence why I qualified my original post and said I don't believe Melo is a target of trash talk from players in the league any more than other players.

Players don't get suspended for trash talking other players. They do if they cross the line with refs but what would be Dolan's motive here other than placing himself as a target with the league undermining their protocol. Also how is it that all his Garden Secret Service ways get leaked to the press?

I guess Dolan is building a case to present it to the NBA... if he will really catch some stuff.
Not like he want to gain something but rather have some "material" at his disposal to make Stern and Co shut up if needed.

Yeah but isnt Cuban sending in video tapes of fouls and/or missed calls? Same with Ferry. I dont know what Dolan plans to do with audio of things said on the court but I also dont think much can be done about it once its sent to the NBA unless he catches some refs saying some things they shouldnt.

I dont know if you watched the game yesterday but i distinctly heard the refs tell Melo and Woodson to "shut up", in those exact words.

Cuban send in "unfair treatment" Ferry sent something that was a blatant rule violation that the ref allowed.

I did watch but I didnt hear that. Was that when Breen kept talking about how the ref was saying "enough!" to Tyson and JR?

I may have misread your post but I thought you were saying that Dolan wants to send in audio tapes of the trash talking to goes on. If you're actually talking about the officials and all that then I already agree with you.

I do believe it was spurned on by the incident against KG, but lets be realistic on this, the mic is picking up everything said, not just melo and whomever is near him. It's not even wired to him.

I think it was a few moments after that incident, Melo was talking to one ref and then the other ref came out of nowhere and told him specifically and woodson to shut up.

Do you seriously believe the only thing being picked up on the mic is what melo says? You guys are slow.

Maybe I am wrong, but what I got from it is Dolan is actually trying to hear the type of trash talk that is being said to melo. My guess is that if he picks up something like what KG said he would send it to the NBA to have the player suspended. KG never gets suspended because its hard to prove exactly what he says.

I dont know man I think that would set a dangerous precedent

I'm sure all teams do it.

If all teams do it then this wouldn't be a story. I seriously doubt all teams place officials throughout the arena to record audio conversations and send them to the league.

Why not? both tapes were sent in to support unfair treatment.

I know exactly what moment your talking about. Melo was talking to a ref about a precieved miss call. When another ref stepped in and told melo to 'shut up and stop talking to the other ref'. Melo then said something along the lines of mind your own business you don't have anything to do with what we are talking about.

That's the point it isn't a story, read it and you'll see it's nothing but a trash article to once again piss on the knicks.

Then audio recordings of what takes place in games would have been a more known story league wide. Get real.... Melo isn't the only player to be trashed talked to that extent especially not by K.G. So if all teams are doing it as you said and it proved fact finding to the league..... Garnett would have been fined and/or suspended several times over by now. Come on my guy look at your logic here.

Are you paying attention to how ridiculous your premise is?

What the hell? I cant believe I missed that, thanks. The only problem is that sending any of that audio into the league wouldnt do a thing. Stern protects his refs like no other.

Lets go back a few days, woodson tells his club stop arguing with the officials let him handle it, then the first game back, the Garden has special mics to record things.

Really not that complex to me, sounds like the situation they feel is out of norm is being handled.

The article though is a weak attempt to paint bad light on both parties.

When ferry did it they suspended Rondo, even though the ref didn't even t him up for bumping him.

The league didn't even know it happened, how do you explain that?

If they audio all Melo's comments and fragmented comments from the opposition sending this to the league it creates an incomplete sloppy case.

Case in point, let's say Garnett is shooting free throws after a hard foul from Melo. They jaw jack a little bit while at the line regular trash talk stuff but as both teams go to the bench during the timeout Garnett yells beyond the 3pt line Honey Nut Cheerios....audio doesn't quite pick it up and Melo fires back walking to his bench "Shut the Eff Up Purple Skeletor".......Melo gets a tech as he's closer to a ref and Garnett doesn't? It proves to be Melo's 16th tech,.....what are they going to be able to prove from this if they sent audio to the league while they were both calling each other the N and B word at the line. Will they edit the audio and take out what Melo is saying? Even if the opposition if going hard at Melo do you really want the league knowing what is coming out of the mouth of your star player?

I can understand Video but Audio.....is a bit much and the only case I could see for it, is to go at a ref. Audio would be too arbitrary and easily manipulated by teams with issues

wasn't the refs exactly what woodson told his team to avoid...conflicts with refs?

The article is nothing but guesses, but we all heard woodson say out of his mouth the refs are HIS responsibility.

It's not a surprise to me that now there is additional recording device, whether audio or video.

Video is for what you want seen, audio is for what's heard....the whole MSG is video recorded already.

Ferry going to the refs after the game got him fined and it also just caused the NBA to go and look at the altercation when the otherwise would not have and given Rondo's reputation (doing it once before) they made their decision. Thats punishing a player.

That has nothing to do with punishing the refs. Im talking about Stern protecting his refs. Ferry got fined because you're "not supposed to approach the refs after the game". If Dolan presents any tapes with the intention of having any of the referees punished, he'll probably be fined and nothing will happen.
