I fast all the time, Bonn!! I go on one 40 hour fast every two weeks and I almost always skip breakfast and often go without lunch.

It's called 'intermittent fasting', has a TON of benefits, check it out and give it a shot, man,

Fasting is not so crazy as many people think,

Your body doesn't suddenly start rotting away if you go without food for a day or two,

We're designed to go right up around 40 hours without food with no problem,

I like to lift weights in a fasted state, always lift better,

I haven't seen much controlled research on it but haven't looked that carefully. The real problem is fasting during an NBA season though.

Edit: I looked it up now. That does sound neat. I still have trouble imagining it being smart do that while you're playing NBA games, though.

I was so excited to share my fasting experience that I didn't read the rset of the thread, your original comment was about fasting for psychological problems, I don't know, my brain always feels clearer after an extended fast and I know I work a lot better without breakfast or lunch,

I'm not big on controlled research, I experiment a lot on myself and monitor how I feel,

Lol, I definitely wasn't doing it because of the Celtics. If Melo is christian, he is doing it to show God his dedication to his will. To show God that he is worthy of the things he is asking for. I don't know what is going on inside his head, but if what they are saying about him and wife, he could be doing to try to get things better between the two of them.

OK, but is he gonna have to do this for God during the playoffs too?

Remember Nazr when he fasted his play suffered. Had no energy. Melo picked the right time. He was injured and suspended and going to personal problems that couldn't wait til the offseason

I don't know exactly what this comment from the article means but I hope he didn't go 15 straight days without eating!
Anthony said after today’s 100-87 matinee victory over New Orleans he’s just finishing up a 15-day fast that he often does at this time of year to bring “clarity’’ in his life.

That what I meant by the events from the game (im now realizing it was poorly worded on my part). We wouldnt have known of all that if wasnt for what went down in the game so thats why I was referencing it. Other than that Im not too familiar with the religious aspects of fasting so thanks for the insight.

Nothing wrong with fasting. Also, Melo has been fasting for the last two weeks which means the fasting preceded the Celtics game. SMH at anyone thinking Melo decided to fast because of KG and the Celtics.

Not sure how serious some of these comments are? Fasting because of what KG said, really?

This is not the first time Melo has fasted, he did it for 21 days while in Denver

"It was mental," Anthony told reporters in Denver. "It was spiritual. It was emotional, man. And during that whole time it was a lot of prayer with myself. And just taking some time out and just getting some clarity on things with myself for my career, with my life, and it really helped me. I started seeing things a lot more clearer from every aspect of my life."

Daniel 10:2-3: "At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over."

I couldn't imagine playing while fasting. I have a fast coming up and it's hard for me to function doing everyday activities.

Its weird I thought Melo looked heavier today than the start of the year. Maybe just extra body armor

Olajuwon fasted during the season. I guess Hakeem was fasting due to fear /anger associated with KG and the Celtics as well.

Yeah, Hakeem had one of his most impressive stretches as a basketball player during Ramadan. Whatever works. People deal with ish differently. The important thing is that he thinks it's helping.

Black people don't see therapist. I'm black.........I would never go to one either.

If you white and Jewish a therapist is a sign of strength and success.

Also that one is making a clean break from their mothers.

I find this comment racist. Seriously.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

Melo was drinking shakes so he got his calories in

But, Im sure he was hungry and if you hungry from fasting and the big bad wolf tells your estranged wife tastes like "Honey nut" then perhaps it explains a lot.

nice of you to speak for all of us. Also, if more of us went to see a therapist there would likely be less crime in our community.

Now that I've gone WAY off tipiclet me say that fasting is a great way of detoxing.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt
