One More Thing
Little Penny: "What's a brotha gotta do to get some potato salad?"
If any player contributed 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, it might be cause for a pat on the back, or even a gold star for diverse effort. If said player was a young phenom buried on the bench (via the Ivy League, headed for the D-League) he might even be celebrated as the next cool thing and featured on a magazine cover. Unfortunately, our guy has an imperfect past and his playing personality only irritates the SSP (suburban style police). He is an accident waiting to happen. He does not deserve the applause because his high performance is expected.
Nah, statistics matter less in this case. High-level productivity is expected from those who jump from the womb shooting jumpers from three point range with their eyes closed. Dis guy is simply just another shootin' fool... or playing for his next big paycheck. 28 points on nearly 50 per cent shooting (10/22) from the field rates yawns and the anticipation of his inevitable failure and fall to earth.
What is that, 4 or 5 games in a row over 20 or 25 points?
Nice game JR Smith.
One more thing.
This adjustment period will not happen instantly. Contrary to the game threaders who KNOW "the Knicks suck" or the sky is falling, basketball is a team game and change is never seamless. Never. As one who played pro ball, Mike Woodson knows this. Just one players absence (Felton) or re-appearance (Stoudemire) can mess up the flow. Prigioni and Stoudemire are perfect strangers in game competition. They will figure it out. In a month.
Shift duJour: Pablo Prigioni next to Jason Kidd. Cope. Carmelo. Chandler. Our two ball-handler alignment is more familiar.
(Jason could use the break and (later) JR can bring the ball up every other time up the court. Yes Mr Smith can defend the three.)
