Not discussing this, as its not important to me as it is desperately important to some, and the facts tend to disturb good hard working Knick fans and hurt their feelings. Who am I to tell you Santa doesnt exist? Enjoy the holiday!

Melo will not win MVP because he's a scorer, not an elite defender and has posted these stats before.

If you think he's gonna win Im happy for you. If you think finishing 3rd is awesome then Im happy for you.

Its the ARod thing all over again. Even if he wins MVP, which he has about a 2% chance (assuming KD, CP3 and Lebron all tear ALCs) whoop whoop. I would trade all the MVPs for a player who can get hot and win us some series this spring.

But yes... with Amare out and Shump out several guys have stepped up, among them Melo.

Nice to see a new thread expressing new exciting ideas.

And people wonder why Melo leaves them with a bad taste? News: Its not Melo, he is what he is. Its his minions who are brutal to listen to, but ubiquitous for sure.

One last thing... Being a Yankee fan and season ticket (full 81 games plus playoffs) from 97-2009 I guess I have developed a different attitude about players that come here. Lets see... your paid like a king. Treated like a king. Play for a great franchise in a great city. We arent supposed to be happy your here. Your supposed to make us happy your here. Sorry fella, but this is the first year to have any reason to rejoice Melo being on this roster. Im happy he's playing well, but we didnt trade the roster so he can be in the "MVP conversation." We traded the farm for a guy who will win us games this spring. THATS my measure for success. If you guys want to wank each other over a good 20 games this player your franchise gave up everything it could to get enjoy. The best part is GOD FORBID we lose in the first round people here will actually suggest people like me are happy because Melo failed. Hee haw hee haw.

Here's the funny thing.....I don't care if Melo wins mvp. All I care about is wins and a ring at the end of it all. I posted the article because Fish was saying how Carmelo isn't really in the legit discussion (along with some others). I think NBA.com proves that wrong.

It is the funniest thing to me that posters get pissed and almost irate about this topic. I'm being told to "get over it" etc lol. Hilarious. That would mean something to me if I had anything invested in him actually winning it. I never said he would but I would NOT be surprised at all if he did. He deserves it. Our team could maintain the best record in the east. If so, give it to the man.....or give it to Durant. Simple. Either way suits me fine. I just want the Knicks to win.

As for Nash, yes he ran a great offense for plenty of years. Yes he went deep into the playoffs plenty of years. But last I checked, you win MVP for THAT year. A single year. You are not being rewarded for future years and years past. You're being rewarded for THAT year. He did it twice.....and with no defense at that. Go figure.

Lastly, if a Knicks player is getting legit considerations for MVP, guess what? I'm pulling for the player. Same with Ewing. And if they don't win? So what! Makes them no less of a great player in my book. I just find it hilarious how pissed off people get that he could possibly win it lol.

And nice touch, posting to yourself Fish lol. Classic.

I am offering the opposing party view on this article:

Melo is not proving anyone right or wrong because he is playing at an elevated level not seen before in any conversation with his name. Playing defense and ball movement are elevated that make his mates "better".

The last two weeks have shown a lot.

As the unofficial spokesmen for the Somberites I think his inclusion in a discussion is warranted.

Note: "Unofficial".

Your statement might get vetoed by your somber brethren shortly.

So much for the rational, "Centrist Party".

Melo scores, he's an iso, unidimensional black hole. Playoff loser.
Knicks win, it's ANYONE ELSES contributions, Jkidd, Wallace, even Cope, for Godsakes, it's Stat's training! Don't give me your Melo love, you brainless, stat-less (yuk yuk yuk) homeristic fable lover!
Melo mentioned ahead of any of the holy duo Durant/Lebron, and it's latent Dolan groupie minion bullspit.
Look! Barkely says Melo suhucks! So there! Marv Albert says Knicks win because of NineSecondsORLess! See?

It's okay Somberguys, we're only 17-5. Things have to get worse soon. Be patient.
It's a long season.

Sometimes I believe that some of you really don't want a championship. I think that some of you just want to find a place to bitch and moan. It's too soon to know for sure if Melo will get the MVP but in my mind he is my mvp.

Exactly!!!!!

I don't care if he wins it or not. First it's he's not in the discussion, then not top 10, then not top 3 ... wait wait he won't win though. So what if he wins or comes in third. He is "MY MVP" of my favorite team, that's trying to compete for a championship. I have no complaints.

Who cares were he ranks on %Ts or other useless stats. The one number that matter to me is winning percentage!

I used to think of Melo as a guy that was hard to handle but that he could be handled if teams planned for him. Now his shot off the dribble, set shot and his post up game can't be stopped. The guy is unstoppable. I wish he would get a few more calls but otherwise couldn;t be happier.
