Still trying to figure out how Avery Johnson and his 11-8(4gm losing streak) NYETS won coach of the month

I still give Coach of the Year to Popovich, he's leading a team of skeletons and has-beens to the best record in the league, plus last year if Timmy D doens't get the flu, or whatever the problem was, Spurs go all the way baby.

Immortal, the Pop, the O, the Vich, the POPOVICH

skeletons he is very familiar with and you can't discount players being accustomed to the system. In my opinion, that's what gives Woody the edge. With all the added pieces, to be able to mesh them all and get so much out of them is Coach of the Year worthy. Not like anyone was expecting the Spurs to be bad, the did have the best record in the league last year with pretty much the exact same roster. Who could have expected or seen this coming from the KNicks. That alone makes all the difference.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

Without 4 starters for different times this season so far also (Amare, Shumpert, Kidd, Melo) and still winning.

"He treats nobody different — except for the rookies. From myself to [Jason] Kidd to [Rasheed Wallace] to Kurt [Thomas] to James White to 'Melo to [Ronnie] Brewer, it does not matter who he's talking to. He speaks to everyone the same way. He demands the same thing out of everyone, and that's respect, hard work and being a professional." - Tyson Chandler

Mike Woodson has guided this franchise to an unexpected level of excellence. No one saw this coming. Not even The Answer Man.

Woodson is managing the fragile balance of ego and team play to a ridiculous home record (22-2) and an overall record that places the Knicks in the discussion for the best team in the league. Crazy stuff.

Does he have the Midas touch?

"He's doing fine. He's been solid I think. The minutes that he's got has been quality minutes for us. He's doing a lot of positive things on the floor, so I think he's adjusted well. He's not playing big minutes, but his minutes have been very, very productive for us."

Woodson could be talking about anyone above. Who is it?

After the string of "winning" coaches that have been in here and fallen on their faces, Woody is definitely a breath of fresh air. I'm not in the locker room to see it, but it certainly seems like the players are listening.

Woodson's knack for subbing in the right player at the right time reminds me of Joe Torre when he was in NY. Torre would call on a player out of nowhere, veteran or rookie, and more often than not they would step up. Copeland had a great game a few weeks ago, Woodson starts Cope after very little PT and he delivers. Credit to Copeland as well for staying ready. Woodson seems to have the pulse of this squad.
