My feelings are I would love Amare to come back. The problem is I would love him to come back as a 6th man. His D is too bad to play against the great starters in the league and maintain our current defensive standards. Him playing D against the bench of other teams will greatly reduce one of his deficiencies. Bench players also can't guard him so he will go off on most nights. Melo at the 4 also creates space needed for Melo to do work and Tyson to work his PNR. I rather play players where it helps the team most than just start them because they have a big name. Amare with Sheed and Novak will give him room to work like he had when he first came to the Knicks and a GREAT PNR PG in Priggi Smalls.

Amare has the hear of a lion, hes pretty quick on his feet, and his mid range jumpshot is money. Hes a great pnr player and with Ray Ray playing the way he is, I think we will see a far more productive Amare. I'm not convinced Amare needs to come off of the bench, and I'm not convinced we can beat the heat in a 7 game series without Amare.

My thinking is, we NEED Amare, he needs to come back, he needs to start, along with Iman, and when they do, we will be the best team in the east. Amare is going to make us better. Stop thinking about the offensive foul Amare who had to create his own shot because we didn't have a pg. We have one now, its going to be a special year folks.

I was skeptical on Amare return
but I am more convinced Amare will help & should be welcomed back!

even a gimpy Amare is still perhaps the next best Knick & talented playa overall after Melo,Kidd & Tyson.

looking at the schedule, it's hard to see him coming back this month without (as woodson said )practicing. we play every other night for the remainder of the month and I don't think we really scrimmage the next day after a game.

we may not see him til January

Wood(son). If you don't have faith in Woody by now, you need some help
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

If he rebounds and defends he will be fine. If he comes back trying to score 20 a game while turning over the ball then we are in trouble.

I don't often agree with Anubis, but he's spot on here. Amare can have the heart of ten lions, if he doesn't have "pride" to go with it (i.e., crashing boards and play stout D), then who cares about his heart?

I want him to fit the program, or else sit his lazy ass down on the pine. In my mind he has to earn his play time since our guys are playing at a high level right now. And Stat certainly has to play in the second unit.

what is screw things up? maybe knick fans should be willing to take a step back to take two steps forward.... if it means having a better team come playoff time... knicks might have to adjust a bit, probably even moreso than amare... we are near the bottom in the league in scoring points in the paint.... if we can improve on that with amare, then it may be worth upsetting this three point offense a bit.. again, the key is winning in the playoffs.... you go out your way to fit amare in, if it makes us better in a 7 game series than a 82 game season..

You guys forget this guy is a serious offensive threat. He has never been lazy and he won't be taking minutes away from anyone of consequence. Woodson will figure it out.

Amare has long had to shoulder the offenseive load and the NBA reality is to do that one has to pace themselves and stay out of foul trouble.

At the end of games we have seen Amare block shots and grab rebounds.

If the team is unified at this point in time and he is needed for intangables then I can see him fitting in just fine. Its not like he is playing for a contract and he has been the alpha dog before. This is Melo's time and Melo's team now.

A change has taken place.

He has to pass the ball. There will time for Iso and time for PNR, but if Melo can pass, so can Amare.

And yes, we will take a step back and fans might call for his head to satisfy instant gradification.

Felton knows how and where to get Amare the ball. He is getting Chandler a lot of open looks, can you imagine what he will do when there is a big man option that can finish? Amare is going to do well in this system. People are forgetting this guy dealt with an injury and the death of a brother last season. He was playing like an MVP candidate before that!

Tyson Chandler is excellent at point blank range. Active but raw. (thank you for the back taps) Amar'e actually has some polish to his interior game. Raymond Felton will have Amar'e on speed dial. Scoring is less a concern than his defense. It only takes one blown assignment to throw the cohesion out of sync. Can Stoudemire shuffle his feet? If Amar'e can play 8 quality first half minutes by January it is huge.

Best five finish.
